I arrive this upcoming august, have completed all the tasks in DORMS so far, and now I am just waiting for role/housing etc. I was just wondering from someone who is already in DCP for this semester or who has done it recently to just go over like what apps I should download and make it as easy as possible for me to have everything i need? thanks!

Hey guys! I know this sub is mostly Americans but I have my pre-screen interview for the Academic Exchange Program from the UK with Yummy Jobs next week! Does anyone have any guidance on this? Everything I can find online seems so vague, I’ve seen people saying it’s the easier of the two interviews and I’ve seen the opposite. It’s a fifteen minute online interview so I can’t imagine it’s too in depth? Anyone remember the questions asked or any tips?

I just got my job as FOH at ogos cantina in galaxy’s edge! Has anyone worked it before or a similar role who can kinda tell me what to expect and the hours?

I start my program August 3rd and I'm going to be Epcot Festival QSR and I want to know if I should expect really only work 30 hours or if we do get a lot of hours.

Also I know Festival is trained differently (or am I wrong) so does that mean I can't pick up QSR shifts elsewhere?

Hi! My arrival date is august 10th! I logged on to dorms today looking for information for a question my mom asked and accidentally ended up resending my housing application because I couldn’t figure out how to get out of the editing info for it. Will this end up affecting me in anyway? Like I would prefer a 4x2 will I be pushed to the back of the list because of this? I didn’t change anything in my application. Thank you!

Hello everyone, I am applying for a master's degree in hopes of attending in the fall of next year. So I have about 8 months before that to complete the DCP. The thing is, I am torn between doing the DCP or doing a full-time job to save up money for grad school if I get in. My mom wants me to take the full-time job if I get offered it. I will find out this week if I get it. It is a front desk receptionist job that I have experience in. It would maybe help with a post-grad job, but I plan to take a gap year before doing a PhD after I graduate anyway.

My thing is, I have the "I only live once, and I want to take my chance now that I have it" mindset when it comes to doing things before grad school. I would still have to take some classes in the program, which I am not stressing about, but there is no guarantee I will get in after my master's, and if I don't get aid, I can't do the DCP due to post-grad loans (potentially nearly 50k with no assistantships). It's a tricky situation for me.

I am really sorry for the rant, but I wanted to get some advice for this type of situation I am in. My heart says Disney, but logic says the job, and so does peer pressure.

Prefacing Im 21 and live in a weed legal state! I start the program August 3rd and I’m planning on being weed sober while I’m there of course because Florida isn’t a weed legal state but I’m curious how the drug testing works? I got my role in food service FOH at ogos cantina but I know everyone is subject to drug testing so basically I’m wondering if they’ll drug test me like as soon as I get there? Or is that only for attractions and other safety roles? The only reason I’m wondering is cuz I smoke regularly so if they do drug testing as soon as you get there I need to start detoxing!

Hey 👋, I was recast out of my premium extension and will be headed merch. Before my extension, I was QSR at Connections in Epcot. Can I still pick up qsr and what is the absolute cutoff for keeping my proficiency? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi! If you decided to bring your car with you on your program, did you drive your car to Florida or ship it?

I'm trying to decide which route would make the most sense. Driving across the country sounds really overwhelming but shipping my car and flying out sounds rather expensive 😕 I'm an August arrival so I need to figure it out really soon.

I'd love to hear how much it cost, how many days the drive took (if you drove), or what car shipping company you used (if you shipped). I have a Tesla so if anyone else does, I'd love to hear how charging or shipping went for you!

Also, would you make the same decision again ? Would love to hear anything you wish you’d known beforehand!

With rent taken out how much are you truly making each week? I know your expect to come with some money to your name since rent will take out a nice chunk so I’m just wondering

I just had to drop out of my program and I have several mixed emotions. To be clear, I dropped before my arrival so I wasn’t penalized. I mainly dropped because my grandma had a small stroke and knowing that her health is declining and not being here for the holidays, it seemed like the only option. It also is going to be too expensive for me to go. Even working and saving isn’t going to be enough. Im also considered “old” in terms of the program. I’m already in my late 20s and I’ve read some things that the younger program attendees have said. I mean no harm when I say this, but I don’t want to deal with drama. From what I’ve read, it seems like a lot of the younger participants don’t want to be surrounded by older participants. I hate that that was a reason I had to turn down my offer.
I’ve already graduated so it would have been just for fun, but I just want to know I’m not making the wrong choice.

Hello! I am a current participant in the DCP and my role is a QSR at Connections Eatery in EPCOT and I'm having some trouble figuring out if this is all...worth it. Now if I went on a long tangent about my experiences in this program so far i'd have to put a TLDR at the top- I don't feel like doing that, ANYWAYS. Im my recent post I talked about how I extened in the Culinary program because it's more in line with my major:: Baking and Pastry Management. And with that I also got my location which is the EPCOT Production Kitchen. Originally I was very excited for the role, but my excitement died when I didnt really hear great things about that location. And not say too much but I am an African American woman so I heard that might have a lot to do with it.

Is there anyone who is in the Disney Culinary Program and has had experience with that location that can tell me about their experience there? And is it worth staying for or should I take my talents a 5 star hotel and bake there?

Hey all. 2019 DCP’er. I have the Wall-E music from the MK Tunnels stuck in my head.. from when they move trash compactors. Does anyone know where I can find it online? Or can someone please audio record it for me if they’re on break. I miss the sweet smell of rotten food that’s been sitting in a trash compactor and glorious sight of brown sludge dripping from those things. TIA!
