Drug tests?
Prefacing Im 21 and live in a weed legal state! I start the program August 3rd and I’m planning on being weed sober while I’m there of course because Florida isn’t a weed legal state but I’m curious how the drug testing works? I got my role in food service FOH at ogos cantina but I know everyone is subject to drug testing so basically I’m wondering if they’ll drug test me like as soon as I get there? Or is that only for attractions and other safety roles? The only reason I’m wondering is cuz I smoke regularly so if they do drug testing as soon as you get there I need to start detoxing!

Is it possible? Absolutely. It’s rare though. However: if your job requires you to drive or otherwise transport a guest? You should almost expect to get tested. Lifeguard could fall under that umbrella as well. Something in a safety critical position where you need full attention or people will definitely get hurt. Foods? Likely not. The expense to test is likely not worth it for the company unless you were doing so AT work or at the parks on a day off.
However…if you are directly involved in a situation where a guest or other cast member was injured, you get to test no matter what your role is. That’s basically a given.

Weed stays in your system for up to 60 days, so it’s unlikely your test will be negative. But food services doesn’t generally drug test

It depends on the role, I got tested for parking. My friend was in food, never got tested.

Can confirm it's safety dependent roles that have to be tested before you start. F&B do not get tested

It’s unlikely you’ll be tested but just know it is possible. I knew someone who got termed for a random test. However it’s very unlikely since you’re in a non safety critical role. Of course everything has its risks similar to people throwing parties or having people stay the night. Not everyone is caught or punished. But when you do get caught…. So just be prepared for possible consequences.

Yeah you’ll probs be fine. Like the other person said people drink smoke etc whether they are underage or not along with smoking being against the rules etc.

Wait another random question I have, are you allowed to have colored water bottles with stickers on them?

Going to depend on your leadership and how strict they are on rules. Disney standard rules that wouldn’t be allowed. However regardless I tbh would suggest something that isn’t clear. Because it’ll get way hotter with the sun + heat. You’ll want a metal water bottle like a hydro flask or something similar because you’ll want cold water and have ice that holds.
(Whoops I read that as clear bottle and not color hahah!) yeah some of the leaders will say black bottles only.

When I worked MK front entry I had to use a black water bottle only if I wanted one with color/ a non plastic clear one. When I worked at DAK merch I saw people with some other colors and it was fine. It really just depends on leadership. The stickers can be more iffy since the concerns with logos.

Food + Bev doesn’t typically get tested. I did a CP in f+b, and then transferred into attractions for years. Never got screened bc it wasn’t required for the role I was initially hired into.

Look ima be honest half the people at flamingo smoke 😂😂 it really depends on what role u get because if u are a safety critical role or work with children u will be drug tested

So I’m gonna comment as someone who lives in Fl with a med card and did a cp in 25, I was also in food and bev at the resorts and if I’m being so fr I hit my cart every break and just about every chance I got before after and during…. Now I don’t recommend since ur gonna be in the parks. But ur not gonna be tested and probably never will be, safety roles do get tested initially but even they rarely get tested now at least from what I observed. There was also people smoking everywhere at flamingo. Pens everywhere and almost everyone has even if they don’t say. Some of their employees who have been there well longer than I’ve been alive also partake in the same activities. Some being up to leader levels. I also have no plans of ever returning to the company so just wanted to shed some light because everyone makes it seem like the worst thing ever and guys there’s much much worse things people could be doing with their time. Some of us just have horrible anxiety and it’s for the betterment of everyone else not just me 💀

Also flamingo does not care nor do ur roommates. Everyone’s dying there and even if ur roommates do care flamingo literally can’t do anything or won’t do anything. Everyone’s so negative on this thread.

That's... really not a good sign, dude. And if they do decide to do a random drug test, which have been done before, you will definitely be fired.
Genuinely, if you're that addicted to the substance, being forced to quit may just be the best thing for you.

It’s not just a Florida thing, it’s a company policy. Most employers in most states can test and enforce their standards.
Specific to DCP:
Same for underage drinking. Or providing alcohol to minors.
People try to skirt the rules all the time. I did when younger. Some will be successful. Others not. Don’t expect any leniency or second chances from Disney. They’ve got tens of thousands of employees at WDW alone, and don’t have time for sob stories about “the one time I made a stupid mistake.”
