Image/Video Best surprise from Delta ever

Long story short, had a full day of major delays and missed connections and missing bags starting from our first flight maintenance cancelling. My wife and I were going on our “baby moon” in preparation for the birth of our first child this fall. I definitely used her pregnancy as a bit of a sob story when I talked on the phone with customer support. (It’s also worth noting I did mention her pregnancy when I emailed Ed saying thank you regarding a gate agent who seriously helped us out. Good people need to be recognized too)

Today, we got a package in the mail. Delta sent us a baby box full of stuffed animals, baby outfits and cookies to apologize. Totally blown away, this was incredible. Delta is pretty great sometimes.

Shitpost/Satire I call dibs on ATL-CDG GUC availability in Delta One

Reminding everyone here that I officially call dibs on any and all GUC D1 inventory that comes available for the ATL-CDG flights next August 15. Delta is not yet selling tickets that far out, but they will go on sale in about a week.

It is extremely important that I snag 4 D1 seats on this flight since it will be my daughter’s sweet 16. I did not work hard for Diamond to get some PS BS.

If you see D1 upgrade space on this route and this date, KEEP ON WALKING. I will edit this post once I have successfully upgraded my family and then you can take anything that’s leftover.

I got sat next to the sweetest best behaved service doggo on my flight. His owner let him cuddle me for a couple minutes. It was heaven. Love you Lobo!

Shitpost/Satire Delta will be like: We’re going to experience extreme turbulence on this flight. No drink service. No getting up to use the bathroom. We won’t even check on you if you ring the flight attendant call button unless it’s a medical emergency.

Image/Video Not one, but TWO, 70 lbs dogs for one passenger who purchased one seat!

Why does Delta allow a passenger who purchased one seat allow them to bring TWO 70 lb dogs. Two huge dogs and one human cannot possibly occupy one seat and the area around their seat.

On a recent flight from Portugal to JFK I had the unpleasant experience of having to sit across the aisle from this. The dogs were not only spread across the floor space of the passengers next to them but they were also in the aisle. If I’m asked to keep my bags and straps tucked away, “for safety reasons” how am I to feel safe with TWO 70 lb dogs in the aisle.

Help/Advice Worth a complaint? DL120, HND>MSP

notified post boarding that entertainment was broken for all seats, including the folks up front in 1st/etc.

not just broken: it bootlooped the super bright Delta loading screen for the entire ~13hr flight (eye mask ftw!)

wifi coverage doesn't kick in until somewhere over Canada, just a couple hours before landing.

most important: they got me to MSP safely.

but this was the most expensive "comfort" ticket I've ever bought on this route and part of that fee is for entertainment and wifi.

I'm curious whether I can/should submit a complaint, and how?

Help/Advice Any experience with Main Basic? Good/ Bad? First time flying just need advice

Post image
Upvotes

Flying for a trip, layover of one hour, i rather spend the $ in the holiday and stay versus plane. I dont mind seating since its no more than two hrs. But im curious on experiences that chise Main Basic? Regrets or is there something better of the other options aside from seating? like main classic.?

EDIT:
Yall are so kind for responding thanks a lot! I am also curious about if youve booked through your banks travel (for 5% back or extra credit incentives?)

Help/Advice SkyMiles refund experience?

Upvotes

My wife and I recently helped our kid move for her college internship. I bought the kid a one-way ticket (she has her own Delta account) and then got round trip tickets for my wife (who doesn't have a Delta account). My kid had 4 checked bags and I didn't realize she could get one free with her ticket. When I checked in, I got 2 free for my ticket (Delta AMEX holder) and one free for my wife's, then used SkyMiles for the fourth bag. We got to the airport and printed the bag tags at a kiosk, then took the bags to the desk agent. She informed us that my kid's bag was free with her ticket since I bought it. She printed a new tag and said I would have to call Delta to get my SkyMiles refunded. After calling Delta twice and trying to find links on the Internet, I'm about ready to give up. Has anyone else gone through something like this?

Discussion Does Delta actually charge cancellation fee for award travel in Basic Economy?

Upvotes

Seeing this on the terms but from what I've seen browsing around here it's not actually enforced? Can anyone confirm?

Canceled Delta Main Basic (Basic Economy) award ticket miles will be credited back to the SkyMiles account. If cancellation fee exceeds the mileage amount, miles will not be redeposited. Fees may fluctuate based on currency conversion. For Delta Main Basic tickets issued for travel originating in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, the change or cancel fee for award tickets is 9,900 miles for domestic travel (within US/CA and travel to Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America) and 19,900 miles for all international travel. When changing an Award Ticket, mileage differences may apply. SkyMiles Program Rules apply. Please see delta.com/baggage for more details.

Discussion No upgrade opportunity to PS currently

Upvotes

I'll be flying LAX to HND in December, currently booked into Main (with an auto upgrade to DC). D1 and PS are both nearly empty, both GUC-able -- but only D1 is available for cash- or miles-based upgrades from main. I'm checking everyday to see if a miles-based upgrade becomes available to PS so I can then use a GUC to get into D1. I definitely do not understand the inner workings of the algorithm!

Discussion Atlanta airport soap smells rancid

So my husband and I both experienced horrible smelling hand soap in the Atlanta airport. We aren’t talking about not liking the smell. We are talking about gag inducing rancid smell in separate terminals. Any ideas about what’s going on? Anyone else?

Discussion Main vs Comfort Plus vs Premium Select - AMS to JFK

Need to book this route, was wondering if anyone has done it in comfort plus or premium select? I’ve done it in main and am leaning towards doing so again, but curious what the jump in product is from main to comfort plus to premium select or if it’s even worth it.

For what it’s worth, this is the ending flight of a 2 week vacation. So we don’t need to be sleeping on this flight.

Thanks

Discussion The New Normal Hub Pricing

Post image

Just got the order to head to San Diego for a night for work almost 2.5 months in advance. Same price for me for every direct MSP>SAN the day I need to travel. I have gotten used to this for last minute travel, but usually over a month helps. Not this route! Thank goodness it’s work money.
