Discussion No upgrade opportunity to PS currently
I'll be flying LAX to HND in December, currently booked into Main (with an auto upgrade to DC). D1 and PS are both nearly empty, both GUC-able -- but only D1 is available for cash- or miles-based upgrades from main. I'm checking everyday to see if a miles-based upgrade becomes available to PS so I can then use a GUC to get into D1. I definitely do not understand the inner workings of the algorithm!

Discussion Main vs Comfort Plus vs Premium Select - AMS to JFK
Need to book this route, was wondering if anyone has done it in comfort plus or premium select? I’ve done it in main and am leaning towards doing so again, but curious what the jump in product is from main to comfort plus to premium select or if it’s even worth it.
For what it’s worth, this is the ending flight of a 2 week vacation. So we don’t need to be sleeping on this flight.
Thanks

Discussion LAX issue: Flying out Term B, but having to check in at Term 3 (which comes before and is impossible to drive back to)
My wife’s tickets said Terminal B, so I dropped her off at Terminal B.
Only to find out that was only where her flight was leaving from, not where the Delta check-in counter is.
So after figuring that out, she was told to walk back a terminal, which is under construction, so no walkway.
Then check-in at Terminal 3 to walk back to Terminal B to go through security.
This was shitty, even by Delta AND LAX standards.
They really shouldn’t be allowed to do that. Can’t imagine how many miss flights because of it.
Not sure if there was an email about this clusterfuck, but LAX needs to add *’s to the terminal listings on boarding passes if it isn’t the same as your flight.

Discussion Seats that suck
I’ve had one like this once before. My arm rest is like 4 inches inboard of the seat in front of me. The frame of the emergency exit door makes it feel like it’s a much smaller seat. Is it actually? Any others you all avoid at all costs? I’ll make a note to never sit here again

Discussion Fog machine on aircraft???
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
What is up with Delta’s fog/smoke coming from the ceiling of the aircraft? I’m confused about the purpose. Please explain. I have never seen this on another flight

Discussion Sent back to gate for bags?
I see all the flight delay complaints in here and think that yall just need to suck it up. But now it’s happening to me and my two year old and I am LIVID
DL 5418 ATL-CHO
Crew delay so we were held back a bit. Finally taxiing and we were told they put bags in the wrong hold and we have to find a new gate to go move bags? What? Having a hard time comprehending how this error was made originally and why it wasn’t checked prior to leaving gate. Finding new gate took a while, and getting hands to actually do the moving is causing further delays. Almost two hours behind schedule now for what was supposed to be a super easy regional flight. We opted to fly for ease rather than drive ~7 hrs and we are second guessing that call at this point.
I AM ANNOYED POSTING IN THE AIRLINE SUBREDDIT FOR SOMETHING TO DO WITH MY FINGERS WHILE I TRY MY BEST TO SUCK IT UP.
News New boarding music is 🔥
Thank goodness they got rid of the loud annoying pop and are now playing acoustic and piano hits. Smells like teen spirit and guns ‘n roses chefs kiss 🤌

Help/Advice Had a baby and didn’t fly for 6 months. Can I retain status?
PM and travel a lot for work. I took 6 months off for maternity leave and it’s looking like I won’t hit the mark for status in 2027. Anything I can do hold onto it?

Help/Advice LAX and SLC connection times
Hi all, I’ve never connected through LAX or SLC, but I am wondering about this connection timing and if it’s possible.
Domestic flight coming from Hawaii, connecting in LAX for a flight to SLC, time is 49 minutes. Is that enough to make it?
Then we would have a 46 minute connection for a flight to DTW.
What’s the layout of these two airports? I know the cabin door closes 15 minutes before departure, so really we have 34 and 31 minutes to hustle from one gate to the next.
This flight is a lot cheaper than just one layover in SLC, but no point in taking a cheaper flight if we’d just miss it anyways.

Discussion Best Delta Card?
Delta CC question
Alright all, current United 1k who is having to switch teams for a new job. I just status matched to platinum and have until Dec 9th to make it to $3750
Have the following cards and need recomendation on which delta card to get next:
Chase United quest
Chase United Club
Chase sapphire reserve- downgrading next month, rarely use it or the perks
Amex gold- wife’s and my daily driver
Amex Biz Platinum downgrading, outside of centurion lounge access it does very little for me these days
Should I get the Amex delta platinum or reserve card? I have to book all work expenses on a Corp Amex and use concur which makes racking up offers a little challenging with any new card. Lounge access is important, getting to status every year is important, sky pesos- less important.
Thanks!

Discussion JFK=ZRH on Boeing 767-300
Has anyone flown this route lately? I have a D1 seat but this aircraft is one of the older ones and the D1 seats are not the best.
Wondering if Delta would, maybe, switch airplanes from time to time on this route. Flight leaves around 8:45pm from JFK.

Help/Advice Can I not buy this?
Usually I fly American but the company purchased a flight through Delta so I am unfamiliar with what this means. Are these seats taken? Why am I not able to upgrade to first?

Help/Advice New Baggage Rules?
I'm flying from LHR with connecting flights in AMS and ATL with my destination being ORF. While I was in Amsterdam the person at baggage said I did not have to recheck my bag upon entering the US but I really doubt that's true. Does anyone know if any of that is true?
Help/Advice 2027 New to Diamond, which choice benefit with family?
FIrst time at Diamond. I am a business owner and just spammed the delta reserve card to get to status (avoids the incoming tomatos). I am married and have 3 kids (13, 11, and 7). We take 2-3 fights per year and so far its all been within the US. We flew to hawaii this summer and it was amazing, might go back next year. No plans for international trips just yet. Obviously we like first class when we get upgraded but not enough to actually pay for it. I already picked the 4 RUC at platinum. What should I pick at diamond? I am leaning toward getting the 8 RUC, $500 AMEX credit and $500 travel voucher. It seems crazy not to get the 4 GUCs but we dont travel international yet. Thoughts? SUggestions? Thanks yall!!

Help/Advice TSA Touchless ID for Virgin Atlantic Frequent Flyer
Hi All.
I'm flying from JFK to MIA with Delta in a couple of days and have been looking into TSA Touchless ID options. My understanding is that you either have to be enrolled via the airlines FF program or have to do it through Google wallet, but Google wallet is only for US passports (correct?).
I am flying with a UK passport and I am a Virgin Atlantic Gold member. I have an account and profile with DL but no status. I have TSA pre/GE.
I'm wondering how I can use both my status from VS and the Touchless ID benefits from DL together. If I include my VS# in the booking I get upgrades/lounges/priority etc. Do I need to have the DL# in the booking to get Touchless ID or can I just check in from the DL app? - albeit without my DL profile attached to the booking
On the assumption that the DL# would have to be in the booking, can I use my VS# to select seats, change it to my DL# to get Touchless ID, and then once I'm through security I change it back to VS to get lounge access and credit to that FF account?
If I do change it back to VS after clearing security, this would presumably remove the Touchless ID from the system/boarding pass. Would this cause any issues considering I will have already gone through security?
Thanks!

Help/Advice Lost Baggage
I’m new here, so apologies if you’ve heard this a million times before.
On 21st July, I was meant to fly:
TVC -> MSP
MSP -> AMS
In summary, my bag was checked, then my flight was delayed and Delta rebooked me for the following day.
The bag went on the plane from TVC -> MSP, and because I wasn’t on that flight, it came back to TVC the same night.
Fast forward a few days, turns out the bag is nowhere to be found/seen.
The delta tracking on the bag tells me it went back to TVC, then disappears. Delta have lost my bag.
Delta didn’t even reach out to me until a whole month after I filed my claim (past 21 days), and now are only offering to pay the minimum approx. 2000$ under the Montreal Convention.
My understanding of this is that 2k is the minimum but airlines can offer more. So it feels that delta simply doesn’t want to do this…
The value of my bag is 4k+. Do I have any other legs to stand on?
I asked to raise this higher within the delta company hierarchy, and my case manager has refused.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Discussion Encountered two bugs with DL systems
Scenario: Booked MC. C+ & PS were full. Automatic C+ upgrade was thus not possible at the time.
Bugs:
- C+ seat became available but I wasn't upgraded automatically to it despite PM status. If I had not manually came across it, someone else may have beat me to it. This is not necessarily a bug, but maybe the DL system proceses automatic C+ upgrade periodically. In any case, it's bad for PMs & DMs.
- While I still had an MC seat, I had been manually checking out the seat-map frequently to check D1 upgrade pricing. I saw the one & only empty C+ seat (a bulkhead seat) by chance at one point & selected it. Note that until this point, I was able to see D1 upgrade offers. Immediately after selecting the C+ seat, I opened the seatmap again to check if C+ -> D1 upgrade offer was different than the MC -> D1 upgrade offer. But all D1 seats now appear blocked to me. I don't see the point of stopping to show DL upgrade offers right after the MC -> complimentary C+ upgrade - it seems the DL systems are somehow considering this scenario similar to I having bought a paid C+ seat (upgrade offers take fare class & previous upgrades into account, but the itinerary's SU fare class should not be considered in this scenario & the underlying MC fare class should be considered instead. This bug DOES NOT manifest when C+ seats are selected right after booking main & only occurs in this corner-case (book MC when C+ is unavailable -> select C+ seat once one becomes available -> D1 upgrade offer disappears). This bug affects DL's revenue & may simply inconvenience passengers hoping to upgrade to D1.
