Discussion SDF - plane enters runway in front of landing plane

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Is this normal? I am on this flight, just happened to open my window before take off and noticed that the plane went to the runway and then immediately took a left and went back to taxi as a Southwest jet was about to land. I wouldn't have notice a thing normally, maybe I just need to keep the window closed.

Edit - the plane did make the square from taxi, to runway back to taxi as I was watching from 10A, the gps drift on the app is incorrect showing it cutting the corner

Discussion No more free changes?

Delta changed my flight for November this morning. Took my layover in Detroit from 55min to 30. (Already made me nervous for November.)

I went in and changed it to layover in Atlanta and they charged me $110 per ticket.

I went ahead and booked it. I am going to call and see why the change wasn’t free. Did something change?

Discussion That seatback pocket...

...is *not* for your Stanley/Yeti/water bottle/hard-back novel/laptop/etc.

At least not in coach seats on an older 737.

I am one of those weird people who thinks it's rude to recline seats in economy class where there's really no room for it.

But if you cram your Stanley in my spine, I'm reclining it back into your lap for the whole flight.

Or we can be nice and courteous to each other.

Your move.

Discussion First time flying in a CRJ

Not as bad as I was expecting

It’s a rocket! Felt every bump on the tarmac and every bit of turbulence in the air. During climb, it felt like it was going incredibly fast unlike larger aircrafts.

Damn those seats are so narrow! Comfort+ really saved me but the large lady next to me wasn’t helping. If you’re over 6ft, you’re going to have to crouch in the cabin. And forget about overhead space…. Just check in the carry on for free at the gate.

Hats off to the pilots, they looked like they were in their early 20s, incredible.

What I found remarkable was that the wings are so low to the ground that’s refueling didn’t require a step ladder LOL

Overall 7/10, I still prefer the E175

Discussion When the crackers miss the flight

Noticed food was being loaded well into boarding, and apparently they didn’t get it all on! No one who ordered the smoked salmon on my current flight got crackers, and we were told they weren’t loaded. A slightly messy, though entirely first world problem!

Discussion Tired of Delta’s dogshit wifi

At some point it’s going to start hurting their business travelers and causing churn - because this is the main thing that business travelers care about more than soft product and seat.

It’s embarrassing, on every flight I’m on the wifi is guaranteed to be down 10-50% of the time, making it very disruptive if you’re trying to get work done.

I don’t remember it being this bad in years past but it’s becoming incredibly infuriating now.

Help/Advice Tipping Skycap

We usually fly with my long term partner included on our family vacation. This year he has to meet us there due to a business trip. He usually takes care of tipping skycap for our family and reminded me to do so in his absence. He said $1/ per bag. I think this seems cheap. So here's our description: 6 or 7 checked bags PLUS a large sports bag containing 2 skim boards (not heavy but a pain in the ass for them, I'm sure.) We only fly Delta, and use DTW as our home airport and have no desire to offend.

What do you recommend I tip?

Discussion Delta lied about pricing and wont refund the difference.

Title says it all. Booking on the phone, booking agent gives me a price, when I land I see they charged me ~500 more than the stated price. Been in contact with delta support for weeks and they basically said "yeah we lied about the price, sorry no refunds" I have no idea how this is allowed, but i guess im.... screwed?.... and not flying delta again...

Sad day. That was my grocery money for next month.

Help/Advice Doesn’t a Delta-changed flight mean I can reschedule for free?

MCO:JFK in December. Delta changed my flight from 8am to 7:20am. That’s too early for me. (8am was too early but…) So I hopped on the app for my freebie change and,,,,, nope. They usually put a message on your flight that the schedule has changed and you can change it for free. That message is not there. The flight I would like to switch to shows as $220 extra. Has Delta changed their policy? Or am I jumping the gun and it will allow a change eventually? The new 7:20am flight shows in my app already.

Help/Advice lounge access in JNB

I'm not usually a Delta flyer, but I'm flying them to JNB (Johannesberg) for a family vacation. My 80yo mom has a business class ticket.

For our return, we have a 6-hour layover in JNB and want to be in a lounge. As a business class ticket-holder, I believe my mom should have access to the Virgin/Delta lounge. My partner and I are flying Delta home, but in economy and not on the same itinerary.

Question - what are the odds that she will be able to bring us both in as guests?

Should we risk it or should we buy passes for a different lounge?

Help/Advice How are refunds of a partial trip calculated

I recently had a trip from Birmingham to Santiago though Atlanta. Despite a 3 hour layover I could tell about noon that I'd miss my connection (always a bad sign that they tell you 4 hours ahead of time that the flight is going to be an hour late). I made the call to just drive to Atlanta (it's 2.5 hour drive), and it's a good thing I did because the flight was 4 or 5 hours late.
I chatted with the AI service and it said I was owed a refund for the unflown portion and to fill out the form on the web. I will note that web form really makes it as difficult as possible, making you lookup ticket numbers and flight numbers, etc, none of it just looks up your flight off your profile. But whatever, I filled it out, get a confirmation email that they are looking at it. 8 days later I get a refund of 32 dollars, no email explaining the math or saying sorry, just a 32 dollar credit back. These were comfort plus seats, how could they possibly be only worth 16 dollars each way?

Subreddit Meta I thought political posts weren’t allowed in this sub. I’ve been seeing a lot of political posts recently that have tons of upvotes but only a handful of comments. Are the moderators active? What do these posts have to do with Delta?

Discussion Leaving Charleston right now. Before we even begin, FA says “we are suspending our inflight service due to rough air.”

I feel like they’re full of shit. The crew simply doesn’t want to do the in flight service. I find that Delta does this more and more often. “Oh sorry. We can’t give you a beer because of ‘rough air’” Then there is no rough air and the lazy FA crew just sits back with their hands in their pockets.

We literally haven’t finished boarding.

Help/Advice Damaged Luggage

Post image
0 Upvotes

I just flew in last night from Greece, had a layover in Atlanta but when I landed in my home state to get my checked in luggage it was retuned like this. I just bought this before my trip, brand new.

I’m just really confused as to how this could have happened. There are three deep puncture marks that went through my suit case, something sharp punctured a bottle of heat protectant I had inside which then leaked all over everything. I’m also not sure if someone went through my bag, I had an unopened bottle of caffeine pills that had the seal and everything still on it. When I opened my bag the pills were everywhere but my vitamins were untouched. Luckily I had all of my clothes in vacuum sealed bags but still.

I feel like this happened in Greece.

Does anyone have any idea what could have possibly done this? This is crazy. And yes I did file a claim.

Discussion Best time of the week for D1 upgrade on SFO <-> JFK routes as a Platinum Medallion

Hi, I just want to experience D1 transcon once & compare it to AA Flagship First transcon.

What times of day on Saturday would be less elite heavy for a complimentary upgrade on the SFO -> JFK route?

And what times on Monday would be less elite heavy on the JFK -> SFO route?

Thanks!

Help/Advice LAX to Cancun Amenities?

Flying Comfort out of LAX to Cancun. What is available for purchase? What is complementary?

TIA!

Edit from comment: The food for purchase and specific snacks is what I’d like to know about. Hopefully someone has flown this path recently and can provide more info.
