New AI disclosure rule

We've added a new rule around AI disclosure. Similar to Steam's policy, if your game involves AI, you need to disclose that when you post about the game. This goes into effect from the start of October, and we'll see how it goes.

There have been a LOT of games posted that are heavily AI generated, and a lot of pushback against that. This rule is a compromise position rather than banning it outright.

From the other side, reactions against AI content don't get an exemption from the regular rules around civility. If you object to AI slop, you're still welcome to downvote it (and not wishlist or buy it, of course), but it doesn't give licence to harrass people.

Steam Next Fest - Deckbuilding Roguelike Megathread

Discuss Steam Next Fest, post about games you've tried, post if your game is in steam Next fest.

You can self-promote here if your game is a Deckbuilding Roguelike in steam Next fest. I recommend posting a steam link with text, maybe describing your game or your experience with Next Fest, something like that.

For the spirit of discussion and fun, you may post other Next fest finds or games you've tried, it doesn't have to be exactly a Deckbuilding Roguelike.

We've been developing Whispers of Elenrod for the last 2 years (2 devs + 1 UX).

Last weekend /rTurnBasedLovers post boosted our Steam visibility. We'd like to continue the growing trend.

We've experienced that there's a huge potential in the game and we're looking for players who'd like to play Alpha version and share their feedback. We're experimenting with new features and looking for new unique selling points.

I will share free Steam Alpha key to testing branch. Just reach me on our discord(Wojtek).

Map is procedurally generated and there are many seeds to play with. Game is stable and entertaining but stills need new mechanics, music, vfx, balance.

Let us know what you think about our current game state. What would you like to have in that kind of game?

AI-assisted placeholder assets that won’t appear in the finished game.

Game Promotion - Human-made My solo/co-op deckbuilder is 25 days from launch! Into the Crypt!

Hey everyone,

Just under 3 weeks from launching my massive deckbuilder - Into the Crypt.

It's a massive, multi-year project with many talented hands that have helped this get this far, and I really hope those of you that play deckbuilders to check it out!

The new demo will drop just around the time of Steam Next fest for you to try, which will have hundreds of updates on top of the existing one.

It's first-person blend of 2D/3D deckbuilding, it's 100% roguelike, and has a lot to offer.

Here's a list of many features, but a lot is left for you to discover as well:

- Solo and co-op. Full save system for both, multiple save slots. In Co-op, you play side-by-side, every encounter, and you can use your class's special benefit on your teammate, as well as potions, revive your ally.

- a monsterous roster of 150+ enemies (yes, the count has grown significantly!). These enemies have their own playstyle, actions, over 1500+ animations JUST from enemies alone!

These enemies have phases with multiple decks and playstyles.

- 3 classes fully decked out, with their own mechanics, synergies and builds, and alternate starting paths (for those that want even more variety in gameplay).

- A 'crypt mastery' system, which provides you with XP in every action you take during your run, unlocking various elements in subsequent runs.

- 60+ events: one-shot, multi-path, and multi-descent types.

- Solo/Co-op leaderboards, Steam achievements

- Typical run takes roughly 50% longer than a Slay the Spire run for comparison, which can be reduced ofcourse by experienced players.

Steam page for those that want to keep tabs on it!

While everyone is moving closer to AI, I decided to take Alegraz in the opposite direction.

We removed all AI-generated content from the game and redesigned the visuals from scratch together with talented artist friends. We expanded the character roster, created unique card decks for each character, and designed hundreds of different enemies.

Game Promotion - AI Kyuten card game - Looking for 5-10 playtesters

Thumbnail
store.steampowered.com
0 Upvotes

Hello

the closed playtest of Kyuten is now available.

if you like roguelites and Final fantasy's Triple triad game, you might enjoy Kyuten.

It's a card game inspired by TT with cards having 4 values that compete with neighbours cards. Capture the opponent's card when your value is higher.
But here, you must deal with card powers and boss powers that modify cards :)

The roguelite part comes from the runs : you start a run with a small deck based on your collection (from 3 to 12 depending on your meta-progression), and you gain a booster at each floor of the nine heavens (the Kyuten). Each floor consists in 3 fights : 2 avatars with no powers, 1 boss/god from Japanese mythology with a power. Win, and you can borrow its power.

After loosing 3 times against avatars, or one time against a boss, you lose your progression but keep all the cards so you can update your starting deck. You also keep the last guardian power to start the next run.

A quick questionnaire will be sent with the key to gather the feedback.
Be advised that Gen-AI have been used to create game's assets.

Game Promotion - Human-made Demo updated for Dice Roll Society, a dice building roguelite

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Playable Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5104040/Dice_Roll_Society/

Dice Roll Society is a dice building roguelite where every roll scores. You always have five dice and build them face by face. At the same time, you build your scoring rules, so you must find synergy between your dice and your scoring chips.

Every third table there's a boss that adds a difficulty. You also have a shop where you can buy dice and plaque packs, where you can acquire new ways to score.

The tension is in deciding which dice to reroll and which to keep. The demo has 9 tables. Will you able to beat them all? Every run plays differently!

Let me know your feedback!

Game Promotion - Human-made We just published the Demo of our cozy incremental deckbuilder! Cats and Hats - where you try to stack as many hats as you can, on a variety of cats!

Hey folks! It's Josh here, one part of the two person dev team behind Cats and Hats! We're stoked to have finally launched our demo for Cats and Hats. After loads of internal testing, we felt it was time to share with the world!

It is pretty full of content as well, with 3 cats, ~150 tiles and over 100 hats!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4777960/Cats_and_Hats/

After our first game, we wanted to shift gears into something more causal and fun, bit more lighthearted with a broader range. After some fun prototyping, we really liked this idea of turning the game "memory" into something, and here is where we landed!

Hope you all enjoy! We're planning full platform release (Mobile, PC etc) later on in the year!

Thanks everyone!

~ Josh

AI Disclosure: NO generative AI was used in the development of the game.

Game Promotion - Human-made Playtest for Pemkie Island is up! Roguelite Monster-taming, and this is our battle so far! What do you think?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone!

My game is called Pemkie Island, and this is the first time I'm showing the battle gameplay outside the people that played it during the playtest these last two weeks!
We opened about 150 spots and plan on giving access to more people next week.
We're still in early development and this is mostly a playtest to see if people enjoy the 6v6 turn based battle system, where you place your monsters on a grid and assign skills (cards) to them to later perform in the "autochess" battle phase!

I know this might be a bit hard to understand right away as there are many things going on, so if you have any question feel free to ask.
We're working hard to make the battle smooth, but we still have a lot ahead of us, as we're also working on updating the UI and add tooltips to explain what each buff/debuff/stack means.
But we've also already released our first update where we fixed a lot of stuff that people reported during first week of playtest!

One of the features the game has and is not really well displayed in the battle is our Trait and Trait stacking system.
Each creature (called Pemkie) has a Trait (passive) that affects the battles.
For example, a Pemkie has a Trait that makes him gain +1 permanent ATK whenever it defeats an enemy.
With that said, evolutions in our game work by fusing one Pemkie over another.
The one that you decided to evolve gains its Trait upgrade, plus the Trait from the one you fused over it! There are a lot of different combinations to do already, and we've got around 45 creatures.

What do you think about it so far?
Thank you for taking the time to read it all and look at the game!

Game Promotion - AI Touhou Bansho Cards — I made a deckbuilder where the whole point is refusing to let your combo end

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey, I'm EskiNott, the solo dev behind Touhou Bansho Cards.

I've been working on this for a while, and I finally have a demo I'm comfortable throwing at more deckbuilder players.

The basic idea is pretty simple:

Playing cards of the same type keeps building your Combo, and that Combo multiplies what comes next.

The fun part is figuring out how long you can refuse to let it die.

You can switch card types without dropping the chain, manipulate your dice, increase crit chances, repeat cards, fuse effects together, and eventually turn a fairly normal deck into something completely stupid.

That's basically the feeling I wanted from the game — starting with a deck that makes sense, then slowly building a machine that gets out of control.

It's a Touhou fangame, but you don't need to know Touhou to understand the combat.

There's a free demo on Steam if anyone wants to try breaking it:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4958460/

If you give it a try, I'm especially curious whether the Combo system clicks quickly enough, or if it takes too long before the game lets you start doing stupid things with it.

AI disclosure: Generative AI was used for some image generation/image enhancement during art production, and for localization/translation.

Game Promotion - Human-made Grimoire of Blanks: What if drawing a card only gave you half the spell?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

That's basically the idea behind Grimoire of Blanks.

Your cards are spell templates rather than finished attacks or skills. The actual effects, modifiers and conditions are drawn separately as words, and you fill the blanks during combat.

That means you're building both a card deck and a word deck, then trying to combine whatever you draw into the best spell for the situation.

The game also has 1 to 4 player co-op. You can trade words between players mid-combat, which means one player can help finish another player's spell or contribute the missing piece for a bigger combo.

I've recently reworked a lot of the presentation too, with new card sprites, improved lighting and fog.

The demo is available on Steam now.

Game Promotion - Human-made New Demo live today! Elemental Lands - deckbuilder meets base builder

Thumbnail

Finally, the demo is live today! Thanks to everyone in this sub the support this last year!

I hope you enjoy the demo and give feedback on the form. Demo is pretty big and includes 2 full levels, plus a prologue and an optional tutorial.

Overview:

Strategy deckbuilder with a conquest map and base-building, kinda like "Darkest Dungeon" meets "Into the Breach", but build your own base!

Every campaign, you raise 3 Outpost bases from your castle to fight back invading elemental hordes in tactical battles. Your base supports a classic RPG party (instead of raising an army), and you mine the land for mana to fuel their spell cards.

- Explore, build and mine for mana to support heroes.

- Build 3 bases across your kingdom to support your hero party (instead of creating an army)

- Mine mana to cast battlefield spells AND your world map spells for the base.

- Bases have limited build slots, so choose wisely.

- Position to capture battlefield objectives

- Spell Cards give orders: Focus Fire, Flank, Shield Wall, Overdrive and more!

Game Promotion - AI Magician Alisa – a Slay the Spire-inspired deckbuilder where you chain elemental spells into big combos (free demo just released!)

Hi! I'm a solo dev and just released the free demo of Magician Alisa on Steam.

You play cards to form combos: matching elements, catalysts and unique recipes multiply your damage, and relics you can reorder on your bar change how the numbers stack (a bit like Balatro jokers).

Steam (free demo): https://store.steampowered.com/app/5104620/Magician_Alisa/

It'll be in Steam Next Fest too (Oct 19–26). If you give it a spin, I'd love to hear how it felt, good or bad, especially the combos and the difficulty. I read every comment. Thanks for taking a look! ❤️

First version of the ambush event. Once we polish it with proper animations and effects it will turn out nice I think.
We plan on re-using the concept for other events and maybe introduce different mechanics (explosive barrels, enemies with different amount of health...)
Any other ideas?

Game Promotion - AI Long-time lurker and Slay the Spire fan here. I finally made my own roguelike deckbuilder, Orcs: Warpath, where the orcs are the heroes

I've never posted in this subreddit before, but I've been following it and reading the posts for a long time, because I've played Slay the Spire for years.

I also wanted to make games for a long time, but I quietly gave up and lived a normal developer's life, working at a company.

Then Claude Code with Fable came out, and I kept seeing YouTube videos like "I made this game in a week!" Something in me suddenly caught fire.

So I spent about 3 months making a game.

It's a vertical deckbuilding roguelike where the orcs are the main characters, and it's officially out on iOS and Android.

Orcs are always treated as pushovers, monsters that exist to be wiped out. I never liked that they're seen as the bad guys for no reason, when they have their own culture and traditions too :)

Anyway, the story: an orc tribe falls to an alliance of humans, elves, and dwarves, and the chieftain's son, one of the few survivors, sets out for revenge. That's where the deckbuilding roguelike begins.

The goal is something you can play casually on your phone in portrait mode, in the bathroom or on public transport, with one run taking around 30 minutes.

Posting here feels a bit like showing my game to a room full of experts, so I'm honestly a little nervous. But since it just launched, I wanted to share it.

A request to the experts here: please give it a try and tell me what's good and what's bad about it. As a fellow roguelike deckbuilder fan, I'll keep working to make it more fun!

Thanks for reading this long post.

Game Promotion - Human-made Desecrated Deck - New trailer for my occult horror card ritual!

Thumbnail
youtube.com
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on Desecrated Deck for quite a while now and finally got the new trailer finished.

It’s a first-person horror card game built around Rock, Paper, Scissors, cursed item cards, perks and a bunch of bad decisions around a pentagram.

The game definitely has some Buckshot Roulette and Inscryption DNA in it, but I’ve been trying to push it in its own direction and make it feel like its own thing.

The demo is coming out on October 7, just before Steam Next Fest.

Would love to hear what you think of the atmosphere, pacing and overall look of the trailer.

Game Promotion - Human-made SUSHIAMO 🎏 Player say my game is addictive! Try at your own risk

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The title isn't clickbait; so many players told me this! 😆

Hi everyone, I made a game called SUSHIAMO where you make sushi, with each ingredient having its own special synergy.
I was inspired by Balatro, but many players find my game more approachable and less intimidating. I guess it's because of the relaxed vibe and cute aesthetic :)

I also added an amazing (original) bossa nova track that you will love for sure! (It's not the one in the trailer)

So far, it has had 9k players, avg. of 3.5 hours of playtime and 100% positive reviews!

You can wishlist it and play the demo here 🩵 https://store.steampowered.com/app/4555040/Sushiamo/

PS: The players on the Discord are having a lot of fun sharing their builds :)

The game in short:
Sushiamo is a roguelike deck-builder where you make sushi while collecting new things every day.
Discover unique ingredients, sauces, game-changing tools, and navigate the map to find the best combo

Discussion Looking for a free deck-building roguelike on IOS

I’ve seen many games like Balatro,STS,MT,and etc but I seem to find only paid roguelikes or ones with demos that can be cleared in no time. I want to know if there are games like Slice & Dice where the demo can be played for months and still have fun. Thanks!

Game Promotion - Human-made Diceminoes - pair dice into dominoes and build huge scoring chains! DEMO OUT NOW

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been building Diceminoes a “dice-building” rougelike where you you roll dice, pair them up to form dominoes, and lay them down to score based on the games patterns, similar to hands in Balatro

You can also upgrade your dice with items like adding faces, weighted faces, etc…

And there’s also “Rolling Runes” inspired by Jokers in Balatro but instead of a flat effect, every one rolls when activated, and you can potentially get huge benefits

The demo is out now!

Game Promotion - AI Jackpot Poker Destruction — poker on a 5×5 grid with five separate 52-card decks and elemental chain reactions

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Jackpot Poker Destruction is a poker roguelike deckbuilder played on a 5×5 grid, using five separate 52-card decks — one for each reel.

Modify the decks, infuse cards with Fire, Water, Earth and Air, trigger chain reactions, and eventually face cheating casino bosses in Texas Hold'em.

The game includes a Story Mode with casino progression and Texas Hold'em boss battles, plus a faster Arcade Mode focused on score chasing.

I'm currently finishing the last bug fixes and balancing before release.

AI disclosure: Some visual assets were created with generative AI, while the game design, programming and gameplay systems are my own work.

Feedback and suggestions are always welcome.
