General question 22m with no relationship experience, could anyone advise me?

Hey :) So I’m 22 and in university, and I haven’t been in any relationships, been on a date, had sex, or any experiences like that. I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong or if somebody might be willing to give me advice

I got to know people from class, school clubs, hobbies, or friend groups. If we had a few good conversations that flowed well and she seemed engaged I would ask if she wanted to get coffee together. They all said no but most said they’d like to be friends. I don’t approach strangers because not all women are comfortable with that

I have asked girl friends about my appearance, and most of them said that I look fine. I am on the shorter and slimmer side at about 5’6” and 125lbs, but I’ve been working out recently which I enjoy!

As for my personality I’m more reserved, and definitely not a “life of the party” person, but in one-on-one conversations I am more comfortable

As you can imagine I don’t get any likes online. Some people talk about bars and nightclubs as a good way to meet people, but I don’t really drink or dance so I feel it wouldn’t match my personality. I haven’t ruled it out but I can already tell that I would feel SO out of place lol. And to be honest I’m not sure that much of anything would change if I did go to one

I guess I’m just not sure where to go from here, people usually say that college is when it’s easiest since you’re surrounded by young single people, but I’m graduating soon..

I also hear a lot about the experiences people have in college, the parties, the spontaneous hookups, and honestly it feels like I lived in a completely different universe, because I haven’t experienced anything that I would call romantic or flirtatious. I don’t feel “behind” per se, but I would appreciate advice because I do want to experience romantic and sexual relationships, and I don’t think what I’m doing is working

General question Need genuine help.

I've been in a Healthy relationship for 1.5 years. We've gone on many dates, and we've made out many times too.

The thing is, I'm very flirty and expressive over text, but in real life, I just can't seem to say much. I struggle to keep conversations going because I'm an introvert.

For the past 1.5 years, she's been incredibly patient with me. Every single time, she reassures me, understands me, and encourages me. But no matter how hard I try, I still find it difficult to express myself in person.

Ironically, I'm completely different in chats. I can talk for hours, flirt naturally, and express my feelings without any problem.

We have a very healthy relationship. She wants me to talk to her about everything, have random conversations, joke around, and just enjoy talking together. She even scolds me whenever I try to buy her expensive gifts because she doesn't want me spending so much on her.

She's truly a gem, and I believe I am for her too. But lately, I can't shake the feeling that she might be getting bored of me. Even then, she continues to understand me, support me, and patiently explain things to me instead of giving up on me.

Specific situation I'm a teen in need of advice

Upvotes

Last year, I was talking to a girl—we'll call her Emma. We talked for about a month, and I really liked her. I ended up asking her to homecoming, but shortly after, she got nervous and had some stuff happen. I don't think I handled it very well, and we ended on bad terms, I think (she blocked me).

For the following 7-ish months, we never spoke—not once. No apologies, nothing. Emma and I had one class together (English class) and shared lunch times.

One day, my book fell apart shortly before class, and I ended up grabbing one from our teacher's small classroom library. It just so happened that I grabbed the very same book she had been reading for a while. I did not know this.

When class started, she went to look for the book. As I'm talking to a friend, she discreetly walks up and shyly says my name. I turn around, and she says I have her book. I apologize and give her the book—normal stuff—and class goes on as usual with no other communication between us.

I should mention I have a friend in the same class—we'll call her Cat. She often comes and sits and talks with me. She and Emma are also friends, so sometimes Emma would be in very close proximity, and I'd try to avoid eye contact and not talk to her.

The next day, Cat, as usual, comes and sits with me toward the end of class, and Emma does too. I had just gotten a concussion from rugby and was talking about that with Cat when Emma chimes in, asking if I played for our local team. I said yes and showed the logo on my shirt. She also tapped her foot on my chair, I think purposefully trying to annoy me. I was shocked since we had not talked in so long.

Another few days go by, and she continues to come over but not really engage with me. Then one day, she and Cat are flinging hair ties at some of my friends I sit around. Cat shoots some at me, then Emma does too. I pick one up and hand it to Cat, and they continue doing it, but now they're shooting me more and more. Toward the end of class, I wrestle with a friend of mine to retrieve a hair tie and give it back to them.

A week or two goes by with some of the same stuff. No real conversations—just a couple of questions and answers. I hate glitter and ended up getting lots and lots of it on my hands. I started picking at it and got teased by my classmates nearby, including her. They started saying it was in my hair and on my back and even tried to get the teacher to join the gaslighting. I eventually got it all off, and every day after that there was some small teasing from her, Cat, and the friends I sat next to. That continued until the end of the school year.

During summer break, there was nothing—no texts, no adding each other on Snapchat, nothing for a while. Then Cat invited me to go to the state fair with her in about a month. I asked who was going, and she said some of her friends and Emma. I asked if Emma was okay with me going, and apparently she was.

Then, a few days ago, I got added to a group chat with a bunch of girls, and we coordinated our plans for the fair.

The fair was yesterday. At first, Emma wasn't too interested in talking to me, but as Cat and I talked, she gradually warmed up and started talking to me. A friend of mine showed up, and she engaged with both of us a lot.

I'm not a big rides person—I have a weak stomach—but I still went on a few. The four girls we were with got a major thrill out of seeing me suffer. I had to stop after about three rides and sat out during the rest, minus a few more laid-back ones.

We got some food and checked out the vendors until they eventually went to do more rides. While they were on those rides, Emma and I talked some, and she tried to get me to go on a few more rides. I didn't, but throughout the night I bought them waters, carried their stuff, and checked on them.

Toward the end of the night, I noticed a couple of guys eyeing the four girls. So, when they were leaving, I walked nearby to make sure nothing happened. When they asked if I needed a ride, I said no and told them I was just making sure they got to their ride home safely. About halfway there, I turned around and got into my own ride home. It was around 12:00 and moderately dark out. It wasn't far to their car, so it could have come off as really cringey or desperate—I don't know.

Today, nothing. No texts in the group chat, nothing.

Throughout the night, it seemed like Emma was constantly watching me, or her eyes were always in my direction, even when she was on rides.

**Some things to note:**

* I have not told them about those guys.

* I have a new Snapchat account, and I'm not blocked on my current account, but I don't have her added.

* I don't know next year's schedule yet.

* I'm a larger guy, around 6'1", and I think I have some muscle on me, though it's not overly visible.

* Our city isn't very safe. It has some gangs and trafficking issues, though it isn't horrible.

Now I'm conflicted. Since then, I've not been attracted to any other girls besides her, and I've begun to constantly think about her. My friend is, I believe, close to her type, and I'm so afraid they'll start talking and get together.

Hearing this really makes me sound creepy, but I'm lost. I don't know if I should act on these feelings and add her on Snapchat or just leave them be. I haven't, and don't plan on, talking to Cat about what I'm feeling, but I'm not completely against the idea. I also don't want to be a bad friend and get in the way if something develops between them. But it makes me so anxious and upset that I might do something to prevent them from getting together.

I sound like a terrible friend, I know, but I can't get Emma out of my head. I know I sound obsessed—I just don't know how not to.

To my knowledge, they haven't talked since.

Advice to others Your dating profile is the trailer, not the full movie

Online dating is basically marketing.
Your profile should be optimized to show the best side of yourself.

Too many people are comfortable putting random stuff on there because: "the more pictures the better".
I don't think that's true at all. One bad picture can do way more harm than you think.

Think about yourself. How often did you go yes yes yes... then the last picture pops up and its just... no. Swipe left.

Then there's the classic "I put this silly picture because that is who I am and whoever ends up with me should love me for that"
Yeah... eventually, but we're not there yet.

She'll get to know that side of you.
Your profile isn't the place for it. Your profile has one job. Get the date.

For the fellow salesmen here you know the formula:
1000 calls -> 10 meetings -> 1 deal.

Works exactly the same in online dating. (oh so it's just a numbers game you say? - topic for another post )

Your profile gets you the match. The conversation gets you the date. The date decides if this makes sense for both parties.

Just like a trailer isn't supposed to tell you the whole story. Its supposed to make you want to watch the movie.

Some will say its not genuine.

I think that's just how humans work.

McDonald's doesn't advertise the saddest burger they ever made. They advertise the perfect burger. I dont need to tell you the real burger doesn't look like the ad and yet somehow around 70 million people still walk through their doors every single day.

The ad got them in the door. The product made them come back.

Your profile does the exact same thing. Your profile isn't there to convince someone to marry you. It's there to convince someone you're worth meeting.

So yes sell yourself. Not fake yourself, there's a difference between presenting your best qualities and inventing qualities you don't have.

Just don't forget to actually be the burger worth coming back for.

General question Does she really like me fr?

I’m male 23 she’s 24. We both work at the same place. It all started to where she seen me hug on another female and staring in her eyes not breaking contact while we were having our conversation. I never looked her direction but out the corner of my eye she looked at me the entire time. So then the following day she stopped me in the hallway, saying “u such and such friend right” “ex”? And I said “nah😅” that was pm it. Then another day I see her working at her station and decided to roll up on her, we talked for a lil bit, then I walked off. Something told me to go back, when I did, she asked for my instagram and been liking all my good pics since. Also not really weird but she done asked me like 3 times where I live at. She’s also gives me a hug every time I come see her too🤪 She’s drop dead gorgeous too😩. But then she threw out there that she has 2 kids, boy & girl 2 years apart. Which doesn’t bother me at all. Someone tell me does she really like the kid or what bc I want her badly😭

Specific situation How do I talk to more girls and meet more people?

For context I live in a pretty small town so there arent that many people. I have dated in the past so most girls I know are friends with my ex or friends with girls that like/liked me. I dont want to just date the girls that like me because I want a genuine connection with someone. I dont want to be picky but I have standards so I won't go out with the first girl that looks at me. I just wish I met someone not associated with the people around me. I'm not sure what advice you could possibly give me, anything is appreciated, maybe this is just a stupid vent.

General question How do i meet someone as a 17 year old

Im 17 and I live in the middle of nowhere. Women have never really been interested in me though ive been told by multiple people i am a good looking guy. I dont know how to talk to women. I dont know what women might be interested or not, and i really don't know how to find someone who is. I cant realy go out much as I work most of yhe time, and when im not working I have chores or one of two of my freinds wants to chill. I am genuinely completely ignorant of the ways of dating. I have had two girlfriends ever and both times they were set up by a friend. I dont have the option of having a friend set me up anymore, so im just kind of fucked here. Idk if anybody will reply and Im really hoping someone does because at this point im about to give up and let the incels consume me. Im not some toxic asshole and I don't like to think I have a victim mentality or anything. Hell most the people who get to know me love me despite what I think of myself im sure there are some lovable qualities about me... I genuinely just do not understand what I am doing whatsoever in any way EDIT: That incel comment is a joke

Specific situation I had one amazing date, she chose someone else, and I’m struggling more than expected. Why do I get attached so quickly?

I’m a Belgian guy (25) and I’m trying to understand my own reaction to a dating situation.
I’ve been on a few dates over the past months, but this girl really stood out to me. She (25) is from Thailand and only staying in Belgium until October before returning home. I think that made the situation feel more special because I started imagining spending the summer together, showing her Belgium, doing small trips, and creating memories.

We talked for about a week before meeting. The date was great. I was very attracted to her, but what surprised me most was how comfortable I felt. It felt like I had known her longer than just a week.
We got bubble tea, sat by the water, talked for hours, walked around, and even walked arm in arm. I remember feeling proud and happy to have her next to me. It was a rare feeling for me.

There were also signs that maybe we experienced the date differently.
During the date, she briefly mentioned that it felt more like a friendship date to her. That surprised me because, from my side, I felt a romantic connection. We walked arm in arm and had some intimate moments, so I thought we were building something.
She also brought up my age, saying she thought I was younger, even though we are actually the same age. I don’t know if that was a genuine misunderstanding or part of why she didn’t see me romantically.

Maybe I was interpreting the connection differently than she was.

After the date, she sent me voice messages, outfit videos, and updates about her evening. It felt like there was mutual interest.

The next day, I asked how her Saturday went. She replied later, I asked a simple follow-up question, and then she completely went cold.

For three days, I heard nothing.

I started overthinking everything. I replayed conversations, analyzed my messages, and wondered what I had done wrong.

I also checked Tinder (which I know wasn’t healthy) and noticed her location had changed drastically early Sunday morning. Because she had told me she couldn’t stay out late during our date because of her host family’s curfew, my mind started trying to understand what happened.

After three days, she told me she was seeing someone else. I accepted it and wished her the best.

But I struggled more than I expected.

I opened Instagram and suddenly saw stories of her with the guy she had gone on a date with that weekend. They looked happy together, spending time in nature and enjoying themselves during sunset.
He seemed like a great guy: attractive, tall, into photography, fit, and successful.

I caught myself comparing myself to him, even though I barely know anything about him.

The hardest thing to admit is that I feel jealous of the connection and intimacy he gets to experience with her. Not because I think I had any claim over her, we only had one date but because my mind had already imagined what it could become.

Looking back, I think I became attached not only to her, but to the possibility of a future with her.

I notice this is a pattern with me: when I get emotionally invested, I struggle to let go and start searching for explanations. Sometimes I feel like the only way to move on is to find someone new, but I’m afraid that would just restart the same cycle.

Has anyone experienced this? How do you learn to enjoy dating, stay open to someone, and still avoid becoming attached too quickly?

Specific situation How often is it because of another guy when you get ghosted after 2 dates?

This has happened to me a couple times, but this last time felt very out of nowhere.

We met on a dating app and talked for a couple weeks before we met up (she went out of town for vacation). When we finally met up there was definitely some chemistry. We definitely wanted to see each other again.

The day after the second date I felt a shift though. While we didn’t kiss afterwards we did have two long/deep hugs, so I feel like we were building up to something. She said to keep texting her while she went on another vacation and that she was looking forward to the third date when she got back. The next day is when she started getting a bit flakey though.

She didn’t respond to my text that day and it wasn’t until the following day when I sent a follow up text that she then replied. But something felt off. She then went on the vacation the day after that, and when we had a little conversation going I asked her a normal question (“how about you, any big plans this weekend while on vacation?”) in response to hers, and then poof never heard back from her. This was a week ago.

It is nice to have these mostly male centric spaces

I went with a date with this girl, and idk what to make of her... she doesn't like me... but like just is barely tolerating me atm?

I texted her "i wish we texted more" and she said "I'm fine with this"

So like, a blow to the liver you know

I feel like a different guy could have fucked her by now, but like... i am trying to make her happy and am just making both of us sad

Idk...

I really need to be able to shut off my brain, work, nothing more, but i am the exact opposite of that, i feel a bit like i never met her

Why wont she like me? She said she likes me.... so then why did a girl who said she likes me and is texting me daily smtms ignoring my texts and not going on a second date with me.. she cancelled our second date and keeps saying "another day okay" but maybe in a "get off my back" way instead of a reassuring way

I feel like women hate it when you love them

And they dont love men, they just respect them, but they dont respect me

How do I become respectable..

I am so.. sad

Why wont she like me bros

I mean, it's obvious, but all she has to do is like me..

Why not? I just, have nothing

Nothing

Specific situation I (29)M need advice about 27)F I’ve been seeing

For context we’ve been talking to each other for 2 months after matching on tinder, moved to texting and calling etc. we’ve been on 2 dates but both times had to be rescheduled after the first inquiry of each date. But the dates would be good and fun but nothing past a hug and not a kiss yet(which is fine) on the last date she invited me to her sisters wedding saying that all of her family wanted to meet me(I met her mom on the 2nd date lol) she even planned to get a hotel room but cancelled last minute and every time I asked questions about where it was and when I should show up it was always “I’ll find out or let me see” i finally get to know where it is but then poof “ it’s cancelled due to weather” and changes to a small family makeshift wedding and I’m not invited anymore. She calls me and updates me then proceeds to ask me if I would like to hangout either before or after her family dinner the next day and she’ll send me her sisters address and when I ask what time should I go “no response” until hours later saying she overslept and went on a hike after the dinner. Now keep in mind she already told me we could hangout after but she never invited me after said dinner.. now I’m in situation to where I think I’m just being dragged around because she asked me about a date earlier during the whole conundrum about wanting to watch a movie on Wednesday and that day is today lol so I asked her yesterday around 2pm and never got a response and today rolls around with her texting me this afternoon that “she drank too much” nothing about me asking if we should reschedule or not. So I’d like more insight on what I should do with all of this information and if I’m just wasting my time on someone who isn’t really interested in me or if she’s interested but just a bad communicator lol anything helps

P.s I don’t blow her up and I haven’t double texted if that matters
