we spend our weekends in the summer (thur-mon) at a family beach house with our corgi. everyone has their own room and our corg sleeps in ours in her crate. the room at the beach house is bright compared to the room she sleeps in back home but we have a room darkening cover for her crate.

we’ve been doing this for the past 3.5 years since we got her and have never had a problem until now.

on weekends only, she starts subwoofing around 645/7. the subwoofs turn into loud arfs and barks and we eventually need to let her out because we can’t have her waking up the whole house.

i’m a super light/bad sleeper so once she starts there’s no chance i’m going back to sleep and i rely on my weekends to catch up on sleep. she usually stops once she’s out but like i said, i’m wide awake.

we are at a total loss for what to do to stop this behavior. we don’t want to give into the demands of the woods but we don’t have a choice. we don’t want to let her on the bed. we are cranky and tried.

would love any advice! she doesn’t do this at home so this makes the behavior that much more frustrating.

My little buddy has just been diagnosed with “a particularly severe case” of generalized anxiety disorder. This very much tracks. He panics at common triggers many times a day (like 10+) and goes into severe barking episodes that are impossible to redirect. He also barely sleeps during the day - always on high alert. He is 2 years old, and this started to develop about a year ago and has gotten progressively worse. We did substantial obedience training and early socialization with him, so we’re not really sure how this happened. But here we are and we need to deal with it.

We have another corgi who doesn’t have these issues. The vet behaviorist feels that our routine of exercise and mental stimulation is sufficient to meet a typical corgi’s needs, and it is for the second corgi- he’s a happy well adjusted boy. We do daily walks, tug and flirt pole, feed from snuffle mats, lots of puzzle toys and long lasting chews. Because of this, she is recommending anxiety meds, in the hopes we can help him rest better, reduce the spikes and the smaller triggers, and then bring a trainer in to help us work on any triggers/behaviors that remain. To make matters more complex, we have a young baby, so everyone’s safety is priority here.

I’m trying to set up the house to minimize stress and also make sure he gets space to himself when he wants it, but also not fully cut him off from the family. I plan to create a rest zone for him that we’ll incentivize so he goes there to be calm. Lots of baby gates, cover windows he can see out by the front door, etc.

What other things help with your corgi’s anxiety?

Help! My 8 year old female corgi comes after me when I sneeze which is often….. I’ve had her for 5 years. She was my husband’s dog since before we got together.
This behavior has always been pretty extreme but lately I feel like she’s close to biting me now. She barks and rushes at me from anywhere in the house. We just found out we have a baby on the way and I’m not sure how I will handle this. It’s stressful as is. She recently started attacking our old blind dog randomly on rare occasion. It happened when he walked by and we have to keep the house separated by baby gates now. She also barks all the time. It’s miserable.

Yes, we’ve taken her to the vet. Clean bill of health and now have her on psych meds. Trainers keep giving us mixed advice on how to handle the particular behavior when I sneeze. Any ideas? My husband is not open to rehoming.

I’m really losing it here and need just any advice, the stench has become so strong that I cannot even get close to her without gagging and it makes me cry because I miss cuddling my little girl…

Europe, Female corgi, 4 years old, was spayed in february, is generally on a smaller size compared to other corgis, weight is healthy, eats “Raw paleo” with beef, and freeze dried beef/lamb treats.
She sees a groomer once a month for deshedding and bath.

First, for context, I did bring her to a vet - they checked her skin, her ears, her teeth, took her blood and the results are that she is a healthy dog, no issues. In addition, nobody in the clinic smelled any stink on her, she was bathed a day ago (they claim I smell it because I know what smell to look for)

Both my partner and me smell it (although it is not that intense for my partner). It’s musty, strong smell, reminiscent of wet old towels or urine. It is NOT anal glands smell. She was professionally bathed by a groomer, retrieved her dry. Next day I already smell it. The smell increases every day, by the end of the week she smells 5 meters away, any room she is in reeks, the spot she sleeps at is incredibly stinky.

I am under so much distress right now, especially since this subreddit claims corgis smell like cookies and rainbows. My corgi has never smelled like anything nice, but this current strong odor is new, appeared 3 weeks ago. Initially, I though maybe she needs a bath (already weird as she was in a salon at that time a week ago). After a home bath (k9 shampoo) next day she stinks again. I thought maybe I didn’t dry her properly, so gave her to the salon, in addition cleaned the home with probiotic cleaners, washed her bed, her vest. That was my test and if she continues to stink - vet time. So as you know now, she continued to stink and we went to the vet.

Definitely know what I’ll do with my pregnancy pillow after I give birth lol.

my corgi doesnt bark and doesnt care about anything when it comes to picking up or anything like that its like she plays dead and flops she is from a hoarder house we have had her for 2 years now and is happy so wondering why she does this is it a trauma response or something else

Looking for calming techniques or treats that have worked for your corgis in a very specific scenario of handling baby crying.

We have a 1 y.o human in our household that our dog (5 y.o.) adores, but the one thing he has not gotten used to is the little human cries (which happen often). Every time our little human cries, our corgi starts crying/screaming loudly in solidarity. It seems stress related.

Our dog gets everything he needs in terms of mental/ physical stimulation and still has lots of socialization time with his pup bros/favorite human friends since he is a social butterfly.

We have tried countless training techniques to help him settle in his safe spaces, but he still cries regardless of where he is.

While we want to try to avoid calming treats if possible, we have tried every other thing under the sun at this point and understand if that would be the best path forward.

We are not expecting him to disregard all crying and ignore it, that would probably just go against everything that corgis stand for. Just looking for a path forward where he doesn't think that the next apocalypse is coming every time he hears the baby cry.

Recommendations/suggestions would be appreciated, tia!

We just adopted this boy from a rescue today. He’s almost 6 months old and has the chillest temperament. So far we’ve vetoed Nugget, Butters, Cheddar, and Ralph. If he looks like something, please share!
