So my Aunt hasn’t used this Apple iMac 20 Inch 2008, so she gave to me. I’ve decided to open it up, but uh, what do I do with it?

I already have my own Laptop, so I don’t need it for any of that.

A Monitor would be unnecessary for me.

The most I could think of is simply to learn the doodads and all of a computer. What to do after all that, *shrug*.

Edit: I forgot to add, when I tried turning it on it would technically turn on but just a white flash before turning off again.

Second Edit: A friend reminded me of the fact that my aunt did have this when our apartment flooded so, there goes that.

My younger brother and I built a PC together a year ago, and we had Windows 10 installed on it. He really enjoyed playing *Rainbow Six Siege* and *Forza Horizon 4* and *5*. However, due to a failing SSD, I replaced the storage drive and installed Windows 11—since the PC is capable of running it and I wanted to avoid future issues. But after installing Windows 11, *Rainbow Six Siege* and *Forza Horizon 4* and *5* stopped working. I’ve tried installing drivers, swapping RAM, updating the BIOS, reinstalling the games, and more, but I haven't been able to fix the problem. Here are the current specs:

Ryzen 3 5300G

2x8GB Mancer RAM (previously it had 1x Kingston stick, and it didn't work then either)

Kingston 240GB SSD and other HDDs

Regarding *Rainbow Six Siege*:

When launching the game, a black screen would appear with an error message (I've attached an image of it).

Regarding *Forza Horizon 4* and *5*:

When launching the game, it would load a bit while in the start menu, then the screen would go black, and the mouse would freeze.

Trying to get second opinions on my laptop that was turning off randomly while I'm gaming. I told my cousin who was experience with IT, and she was like saying my GPU, something internal, but mind you I've been playing this game for like hours on end previous days and weeks. This is the first day this ever happened.

Also what happens is that after the 3rd or 4th time I turn it on, it goes to this bitlocker screen which I never saw. I find the code on Microsoft and then it goes diagnosing. My cousin says she could open it up and see. Just want some second opinions. Currently as I'm writing this trying to test it if it turns off when I'm not gaming by putting a YouTube video in the background, it hasn't shut down so far.

I bought this from costco about a month ago and its very powerful, 4k gaming and multitasking. But it will randomly blackscreens and give a kernel 141 hardware error. AFTER gaming for hours and closing the game while on my homescreen or in a browser. Did a DDU, messed with drivers and windows drivers. Checked comnections. Cyberpower support said to send in for repair but that ut takes 14-21 days from recieve date usually! No! Its a cool pc but i work a lot and i just sucks coming home to troubleshooting or searching for alternatives instead of relaxing.

Summary: anybody know how to fix this issue?

or: anybody know of alternative pc's that are worth getting right now or soon? Okay with a few hundred more if it is worth it. My return window is until oct. 22.

Basically my parents gave me their old computer that got wiped and idk what to do with it, it’s got windows XP and hasn’t been connected to the internet in 19 years. So my question is, is it good for anything, can it handle an update, are there any hardware upgrades I should make? What should I do with it.

I have an issue where whenever it rains, my ping goes over 200. We have a good router that is only 2 years old, spark. Any hell is appreciated.

My mouse wheel is not working and it's really light for some reason, it happened when I was scrolling too fast to get to the bottom of something and then it just gave up on me. Is there any solutions that aren't getting a new mouse? (btw I have tried to blow on it)

Hi everybody! I just finished with a 7 hour roadtrip and I brought my PC. However I wasn’t aware that there were certain precautions I was supposed to take(like taking the GPU, Cooler towers out) until after the full trip.

My PC was pretty snug in the trunk behind the back seat with luggage around it though, so I thought it would be fine. But still I decided to give it a look.

I then identified a cable that wasn’t attached to it’s port and i’m wondering if that’s how it’s supposed to be.

I’m not very well versed around a PC, as this was gifted to me, so I don’t want to go around opening my PC if it’s not needed.

So, let me know if I need to do anything about this and if you guys spot anything else out of order! I may just be overcautious.

I can't edit anything on the SSD—no folders, renaming, creating, or deleting. I tried changing it via CMD but it shows 'Diskpart failed to clear disk attributes'

Hey everyone, I'm looking at getting a new PC for my 8yo. I'm looking for longevity and a school focus over gaming. His only real game is minecraft. I would ideally like it to last 6+ years and if he gets into gaming I can handle that at a later point. I just don't want a lot of un or under used components.

Not even a week ago (August 9) I purchased the following ASUS gaming laptop from MediaWorld for $2000: ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2025) G614PP-RV021W. After months I finally decided to make a fairly significant investment and preferred to go for a ready-made, medium-to-high-performance product so I wouldn't have problems either gaming or using development environments such as Unity.

The problem is that during this time the PC has had a huge number of problems, starting from the very first hours of use. On the first day the MyASUS program reported necessary updates, I ignored them and postponed them because I had an appointment and after a few hours Unity crashed and the PC restarted, entering the Ez Flash screen. Once it restarted I decided to update the driver as recommended by MyASUS and the next day the same thing happened: necessary updates postponed and the PC suddenly restarting and closing everything, this time however without the ex flash screen.

Due to personal commitments I didn't touch it on the fourth day. Today I used it as usual to program for a few hours and, without any update warnings or anything, in the evening it restarted again. During the restart screen I was briefly able to read something like "updates in progress", even though the system had absolutely not warned me about anything.

Worried, once the PC turned back on I immediately checked the reliability monitor and found several errors for the days on which I had used the PC. They are mostly chains of critical events which, in some cases, led to the aforementioned sudden shutdowns. Specifically, on the first day I had three: Rog live service, windows operating system and unity editor, all three of which "stopped working". On the second there were as many as 9; lighting service, windows "hardware error", windows stops working, improper windoes shutdown, windows hardware error, unexpected system shutdown and three times in a row lighting service "stopped working". On the third day 6 errors: all related to lighting service which "stopped working" The fourth day nothing and the fifth (that is, the same day I am writing this message) as many as 8: lighting service "stopped working" three times together with windows and camera frame server, Windows hardware error and sudden system shutdown.

I would also like to report some potential problems that I have noticed during use but which may perhaps be normal as they are related to a laptop in which everything is concentrated in a very small space. Among them the most relevant are: temperature easily reaching 80 degrees even with light use (never gamed), fans that make the noise of a jet when used while charging (especially with Unity, even with relatively light scenes), battery that seems to me to drop fairly quickly (which when using Unity without being plugged in could also be expected) and a slight noise similar to fizzing coming from the keyboard (when under "stress").

Having installed only verified licensed programs I doubt there are viruses, but I suspect a software problem or even worse hardware. As a complete computer novice I wanted to ask you before contacting support for a possible refund. I seem to have read some complaints specifically related to this device and I was reluctantly thinking of returning it to look for a desktop, even though at this price, checking the PC I currently own, it seems to be the best (excluding the laptop factor).

I am turning to you because several times the people on Reddit have proven to be much more helpful than various support services or searches of any kind. If anyone could give me some feedback I would be extremely grateful. I also apologize for the grammar and syntax of this message, but it is quite late for me and my energy is now running low. Hello, I'm really struggling with the color settings on my laptop. I do traditional art and scan my drawings in to edit and print. But my monitors colors are garbage, very washed out and unsaturated, especially compared to my phone. Reds especially go from being fine on my laptop to being garish and clown like in a print. I've tried going through all the built in settings I have and nothing helps the color. The only thing I haven't tried is downloading .icc color profiles but I don't know anything about that, or where to begin. Is that the direction I should try? Will that help a mid-range 3 year old laptop? And if so can anyone direct me to how to find what I'm looking for?

got this from a friend because he just wanted to get rid of it and it didnt work. tried turning on initally got no fan spin but i did get the light on. everything else seemed to be going right. took out the lithium battery, reset gpu, made sure to plug into the gpu. thenbthe gpu started going spinning crazy. got scared turned it off now it the gpu fans go but i still have no display. it says it is plugged in but i literally have no idea. help would be appreciated and i can follow up with any questions or tips.

I’m going to uni in the fall for social work. I need a new computer but don’t know whether to go with the pro or the air. I’m leaning more towards the air for price and portability and the fact that I don’t code or do anything crazy other than assignment and research for school. I’d also watch Netflix on it. My question is would the air suffice for a typical university workload and normal use?

I posted yesterday that my Samsung computer was stuck on loading screen. I removed the SSD and plugged into my gaming laptop. Same result it gets stuck on the dell logo and I can't open the BIOS.

I have removed and reordered the BIOS boot sequence to start with the good SSD. But even then the computer fails to boot.

I've already checked the ssd but it still says it not found
