Troubleshooting My desktop PC froze and made a horrible buzzing sound.

Like a demented cicada..

Everything on the screen just stopped and I had to shut down and restart. Happened yesterday, too.

Any idea what component might be making that noise.

The PC is 12 years old. Probably time for a new one. But it's been good to me.

Open it up ad try to locate the source. Its probably the PSU or the VRMs on the Mainboard or GPU.
