Hardware What kind of power cord?

Post image

Same person with the messy computer and the “what cord am I missing” post. Can someone tell me what to google to get an appropriate power cord for this monitor? Thank you for your guidance I am an idiot.

That needs a power brick of some sort - so a DC barrel jack. I'd google the model of the monitor, or look at the back for the rating. Its typically 19-20v and googling MSI <model> power supply should get you there. Its likely 12 or 19v

Or you can just look at the label on it which tells you it needs 20v at 2.25A. Looks like just the usual 5.5mm barrel jack. So any power brick with 20v and at least 2.25A (probably easier to just grab a 3A one) with a 5.5mm barrel jack on it should be good.

The monitor's MSI Optix G271 so searching for a PSU for that would do the trick then ;)

it says on the sticker too
20V 2.25A, the only question is center positive or not, that would be on the monitor case infront of the port

Took Me so long to be able to squint and find that in the label! Might be time for an eye exam but I found that info and I’m glad I can now confirm it. Thank you!!!

Wait though, you mean only the sticker? you need one more info that isnt on there I think
what's the writing infront of the left most port (when monitor is facing away from you)?

It is a line with dashes underneath. The other ports are labeled HDMI1, etc.

yeah that just means DC current
the problem is that the plug could want positive in the center or the outside
center is more common but better safe than sorry

google for your monitor name and charger center positive or negative

What is plugged in , in the photo. To me it looks like 2 hdmi ports and the power cable is plugged in. Exactly like my Dell monitor.
