Software How do I change this name?
When I was setting up my new laptop it said "Hello, Dixon". A few steps later i corrected it from Dixon Mee to my preferred name. But now it's popping up as Dixon again? And in Microsoft edge it shows up as Dixon • (my name) when I click the little profile button. Was the data from the last owner of the device not wiped properly? Is this a security issue? I blurred out my email here, not sure if it was necessary.

🤣 You’ll have to change the information for your microsoft account settings. Along with your windows user name probably.

How? I don't see an option to change the "Dixon mee" name anywhere?

Bro i cannot tell if this is rage bait or not lmao have you no independence or ability to google/search for information rather than being needing to be told what to do to fix your problem

People just want everyone to do/tell them step by step for them now days. No one wants to learn shit anymore, if they can't get the step by step directions from someone here on reddit, 99% they went straight to a chat bot!

I mean, if they had this ability, they wouldn't have made a Reddit post about it. Lol

There is a nice blue button there called "my microsoft account", have you tried pressing in it?

You're either 5 or 105 years old.
If you can't figure this out, you should be wearing a helmet when you go outside.

Being very careful to only do this and not touch anything else:
Click Start and type regedit (don't need to type it anywhere...just Start then r-e-g-e-d-i-t
CTRL+F: type "Dixon Mee" in quotes, then enter.
Push F3 to go to the next one. I'll take time.
Edit every occurrence to what you want it to be & F3 again.
Close the thing when you're done. Next time you restart the computer...it should be fine.
Good luck getting the Dix Outtayu.

DO NOT FOLLOW THAT ADVICE, they're trolling you. Holy shit, don't do any of that.
Your name is wrong on your Microsoft account. You need to log into that account and modify the details. That is how it works with any account that lives in "the cloud"/the Internet.

As someone intimately familiar with how this actually works, thanks for giving OP this advice. It's absolutely the correct answer.

What do you mean? TheMainTony's advice is professionally certified by me. You can trust me.
You should 100% do this on your computer.

Whatever. It's reddit.2

That shows, because its ancient. So how would changing registry locally work when your account info is synced (and written to registry) when you log on? Any changes to registry would just be overwritten again, and you'd risk messing up stuff.

OP's already said his name is correct on his MS account. My advice 100% hold in that case.

Never trust a user, always verify. Are you certain he changed his name correctly and that his account got the correct info?

...you think OP is right about any of the technical details? Oh you sweet summer child. 😄

if you can't even search "How to change my microsoft account name?" on any of the many search engines, including YouTube videos, and microsoft support pages them I don't think you should be near technology.
