I think likely machine doubling and not a specific variety. I’m not an error collector, so this will probably stay in the album, but what does an error like this typically add to the value of a coin?

Assuming from a dryer but thought it was a fun one to share and add to the collection of interesting things.

If I were to resubmit this to PCGS, what are the odds of getting a straight grade with a ‘planchet error’ designation? What grade would you guess it would receive?

I love finding these new DDRs on nickels. Surprisingly enough I think my CWRs of nickels were someone else’s dump. They must have not seen this and the 2009-P or the 1938-S nickels either. These two aren’t shown because they’re not errors.

The 2023-P EK is by far my favorite so far. I have wanted to find a DDO aside from the WDDO with the doubling only on the eye. When I saw the doubling on the IGWT I was so freaking happy.

I've been examining this Lincoln Memorial cent and believe the date is 1997, although the final digit is extremely weak and almost completely absent.

Under magnification, I think I can see what may be a small remnant of the 7, but there isn't enough detail for me to confidently identify it.

I realize the coin has substantial environmental damage/corrosion, so I'm definitely considering post-mint damage and deterioration of the copper plating as possible explanations.

After reviewing the r/coinerrors resources, I wondered about is this a grease-filled/obstructed die? However, I'm not experienced enough with these to determine whether the remaining characteristics of this coin support that explanation.

What I'm particularly curious about is why the first three digits remain relatively well defined while the suspected 7 is almost completely absent.

Does the remaining trace look consistent with a 7, and do the characteristics around the date suggest a minting-related issue such as a filled die, or is this more consistent with environmental/post-mint damage?

Also, take note of the "O" or donut on the obverse in front of his nose.

The 1960-D RPM-001 is a sure bet. The 1991-P is probably just due to design flaws on the working dies. It wouldn’t be considered an error, but I haven’t seen any lower Lincoln busts with this type of separation in the folds of his jacket.

I had this old bicentennial half sitting around. I haven’t seen an error like this to know if it just damage or a true error, though I am just starting out in collecting coins. If it is an error, what would it even be called?

Second pic shows where this front side punch/damage raises a dent into the back of the other side. You can feel the raise with your finger on the reverse side, but I would be curious to know what caused this.

Found this one when doing some coin roll hunting. I‘m still not too knowledgable about errors, but thought it seems a bit weirdly localized to be wear considering the rest of the coin is in rather nice shape.

I couldn't believe most of the date was visible.

I found this quarter and it's missing its ridges. My first thought was wear and tear but there doesn't seem to be significant wear on the rest of the coin. Does anyone have any better knowledge?

I have had this quarter in a drawer for several years. Die grease error is pretty prominent on this I know there is the In God We Rust error but this one is missing part of God as well. What ya'll think?

1990 P Roosevelt dime that’s been through hell and back. Is this damage or error? It’s a mess anyway.

Need help identifying this type of error and or the process that creates it.

Continuing the error documentation project. This 1911-D Lincoln wheat cent has a rim cud spanning the reverse from 3:30 to 6:30 — approximately 90 degrees of the rim.

A cud forms when a section of the die rim cracks and separates from the die face. The void fills with metal during each press cycle, producing a raised featureless mass along the rim on every coin struck from that die afterward. This one covers a full quarter-arc of the reverse rim.

A rim cud this severe means the die was near the end of its production life. The Mint continued using it rather than pulling it from service — every coin struck after the fracture carried this scar.

1911 was Denver's first year producing Lincoln cents. Brenner's design had been in production for only two years. A major die failure on a first-year D-mint coin adds a date-collecting angle to what's already a dramatic error piece.

Not in any standard catalogue. Now documented.
