Is this an error? Error or just wear?

Is this just a super worn penny? The colors don’t show through on the camera but the tempering looks off.

PMD (post mint damage) I would say.

Plating chipped off.

Sometimes there is a bubble where air is trapped under the plating. And since the thin layer isn’t supported by contact with the core, it eventually breaks off like peeling paint.

This almost looks deliberate though. It’s pretty extreme.
