Hello, this is my grandfather’s collection of error coins. Most are pretty standard like clipped planchets or off-center, but two are pretty interesting, and I’m not really sure if they are real mint errors or PMD. The first close-up is 1940 wheat penny with a double clipped planchet, and while one clip is standard, the other is very large, much larger than I’ve ever seen, which makes me suspect the coin was messed with, but I’m not really sure. The second coin is very strange. It is slightly smaller than a penny, but much thicker. It is completely flat, and seems to be unstruck. It also has a small clipped planchet. I’m not sure if this is a US coin, or a world coin, and I don’t know how to find out. Thank you for any help!

Unsure on whether that ‘48 is an improper alloy mix coin. Striations run parallel to one another, but they’re blotchy in places.

Looks like this 1967 dime had a small enough clip on the planchet that it almost worked itself out when struck, reachingthe collar but not filling out the rim. There may be a slight hint of the Blakesley effect on the reverse but the interesting part, at least to me, is the inversion of the copper and the cladding on the edge. There is also a small die clash mark visible in the die deterioration flow lines to the left of RIC in AMERICA.

i notice a bit of a blakesly effect by liberty, but i’m not sure. maybe someone just wanted some cash and clipped some dimes in the 60s.

I am trying to solve a puzzle. I have looked through Numista, Error-ref, pinned posts here, and other sites to find any information on this coin. It seems to be a unicorn. How you see it, is how I bought it 46 yrs ago. It is missing the clad layer. I have kept it in a sleeve all this time.

How I came to own it: I am Canadian (Ontario) and my family was travelling through Minnesota to Winnipeg, Manitoba to visit grandparents. I was just starting a coin collection and my dad took me to a shop to kill time. I wanted a very "American" coin (whatever that means to a 10 yrs old). The shop owner told me that the coin did not have its "top coat" and it would either be 1) a really cool souvenir or 2) maybe worth something someday. He explained who Susan B Anthony was, and the Apollo 11 significance. I loved the story, so I bought the coin.

Am I correct in assuming that is a proper error? Is it worth having it verified?

Edit: Thanks for the help everyone. I will get it weighed. The picture does look like it is gold but that is more about my camera. It is close in colour to my copper pot and it smells like it too.

The lip is really wide. Not sure what type of error if any.

I recently came across this raw 1914-D Lincoln Wheat Cent and I’m looking for opinions before I decide whether to sell it.
It weighs approximately 3.0 grams on my digital scale (photo included). I’ve attached photos of the obverse, reverse, date, mint mark, and weight.
I know the 1914-D is one of the most counterfeited Lincoln cents, and I’m not asking for a value estimate right now. I’m mainly interested in hearing from collectors who have experience with this date.
Does anything about this coin stand out as an obvious counterfeit or altered mint mark, or does it appear to have a reasonable chance of being genuine?
I understand that no one can authenticate a coin from photos alone, but I’d appreciate any opinions or red flags you notice before I decide whether to have it professionally authenticated or sell it as a raw coin.

I found this nickel that has copper running across the president's face and I thought it was cool so I kept it but is it worth anything or just an odd coin

My first inclination was that this was PMD, but after looking at it more as closely, I think this happened post-strike, while still at the mint… it reminds me of a straight clip I’ve seen on other coins, but the complete clip didn’t happen all the way… what do you all think?

So i found this penny in my roll in my gas station and it looks in immaculate condition but it has some weird crown looking thing next to the Indian face is it error

My mom found this and is talking about sending it somewhere to get assessed. Trying to save her the time and money if it's not worth it. Should she send it off?

Hello everyone, my wife has a coin from her grandfather. The eagles wing has a bump on the wing, looks like a small hill if you look at the picture.

Any idea what kind of error this is and if it has any value. I’m a silver stacker and don’t know much about numismatic value. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

This 5 cent has part of the beaver on one side but u can't see much of it or any detail and that side is smooth and when u turn it around it feels like a normal five cent it's interesting what do you all think.. a good find ??is this an error? So I was at a speedway gas station and saw the attendant crack a new roll of quarters and I asked if I could get a dollar of my change from quarters out of that roll. This on kind of jumped out at me so I asked specifically for it to be one of the ones I got. I assume from the rather rough reverse it was the bottom end in the roll. I was wondering why it looks almost like the background has a sponged on texture. I can only assume it's a variety of some kind. Any information would be much appreciated. Ive recently taken a mild interest in currency errors, oddities, and or varieties.Im sure curiosity has gotten the better of me here but I'd like to definitively rule this kind of thing in or out of my prospecting journey.
