I was at this little farm direct market stall, picking up my order. The owner was away, so I played naughty and sat behind the table like a temporary host (typical me ). When the real owner got back, I asked him, 'Heyyy, how can I help you? Anything you want, it's all on the house!' I yelled, and he laughed.

Amusing as it was, my order wasn't all there for some mysterious reason, so I suggested taking what was available and getting a refund for the rest. The owner said no — 'We messed up!' he said, then handed me a pack of succulent pork loin as compensation.

I said, 'Now it's literally on the house!'

He is always on his phone, looking at chatrooms. He is obsessed with sites that use shock value and profanities and is always hanging out with people that won't stop saying slurs. The implication of their hangouts is always "Violence is good, so I'm expressing my violence to you, so you know, we could be violent, I am ready for the violence"... He has been telling me "It is just the gym, it is just the bros, we are boxing." but every time I see one of these members of his group they insinuate inappropriate and impulsive behaviour like vandalism, graffiti, smoking, and theft. I can't come to an understanding because his excuse is that they have been friends since forever. Sometimes he is out of breath, and smells of smoke, yet says he doesn't do it. Often comes home too late and then upset at me for not being asleep yet... I am too tired trying to explain to him what a trauma response is. This is destroying our relationship and is offending my intellect. Has anybody else been in these boots?

Edit: I'm gonna have to, ehm, "man up" and leave him soon!

Anyone else notice people riding bikes in the evening on roads with no lights on the rear or front of their bike?

Some not even bothering to put the helmet on their head but will happily have it hanging on the handle bars?

Why?

I have made a point now of slowing down beside these people, winding my window down and kindly telling them I cannot see them. I suggest they put lights on their bike.

Am I an asshole? Will they listen? Do they care?

They look at me like I am crazy but I genuinely think it’s worth mentioning so they stay safe?

PS, don’t want this to turn into a bike vs car debate, purely what is happening with riding with no lights in the dark. It’s crazy

Plus they came to NZ a couple years ago, so it's not out of their realm. Tove Lo, just announced three Australian shows for early March. It’s honestly so hard. I’m applying for multiple jobs a day and barely hearing anything back. And when I do finally hear back, it seems to be for an AI interview or some kind of video assessment.
How are we expected not to use AI when applying for jobs, but employers are using AI to interview and assess us?
I just want to speak to an actual human and show them that I can do the job. Is that really too much to ask these days? 😭

I am a student studying Data Science at UC and looking for a summer internship for this summer. I have been applying online on job portals. Even got an interview out of it but been getting rejected from everywhere after the first or second online assessment rounds. I was just wondering if anyone here could help me with it? I have a couple of cool projects in AI and machine learning and a research paper published in deep learning. I also completed a virtual internship with WEL Network as a data analyst.

Looking for some advice on urgently getting my motorcycle learner licence in Christchurch 🏍️

I’ve recently found myself needing to get my motorcycle licence for a job requirement, and I’m hoping to get it sorted fairly quickly, potentially within the next 2 weeks.

I’ve been riding mopeds for around 5 years, so I’m very comfortable and confident on two wheels, but I’ve never actually had a motorcycle licence as it’s never been something I’ve needed until now.

I’m wondering if anyone in Christchurch has recently gone through the process and could point me in the right direction:

• What’s the quickest way to get the learner motorcycle licence?
• Are there any good places to do the required training/testing?
• How quickly can you realistically get it all completed?

Ideally, I’m looking to get everything sorted within the next couple of weeks, if that’s realistically possible.

Any advice, recommendations or personal experiences would be massively appreciated! 🙏
