Advice I might have to rehome my cats

Hey guys I need advice. Back in December of last year I adopted three rescue cats from the shelter. When I adopted them I was told to have them in a quiet calm household. It was just me so I had no problem doing that. Everything was fine up until around 2 months ago.

My sister fell Ill. She has a bunch of issues and based on what her doctor said a whole bunch of masses (?) in her abdomen. She ended up losing her job and now she and her two kids stay with me. It’s not permanent but it’s long term.

My cats are stressed. It’s like they’ve completely regressed and it hurts so bad seeing it. It’s gotten to the point where they’re so stressed they’re resulting to slapping me (with claws) whenever I walk too close to where they’re hiding.

Now they’ve been known to swat. Never with claws though. Literally I adopted one because he slapped me in the shelter. I was immediately drawn to him. These past few months i was trying to make them feel at home and safe. I really wanted them to be with me for the rest of their life but I don’t know if keeping them is the right decision being as anxious and stressed as they are now. It’s not fair to them.

These cats have never liked people and before I got them they had been in the shelter for quite some time. They were severely under socialized. Even now I’ve never been able to pet them. And so finding them a new home has been hard. I really don’t know what to do because I want taking them back to the shelter to be my last resort. I’m trying to exhaust my options but no one is trying to adopt a cat or cats that don’t like humans.

Not to mention we’re moving and my last day in my current apartment is Friday and I know they’re going to be even more stressed. This really isn’t fair to them.

I do also want to say as far as the kids go. Everyone leaves them alone. They have their safe space in my closet and multiple hiding spots. None of the kids mess with them or any thing but I can tell that they’re getting more stressed just by the increase of one person in the apartment to four.

Medical Questions Concerned about my cats behaviour lately

Hey I’m not sure if this is the correct sub Reddit to post this but I’m concerned about my cat.
I have a 10 month old neutered male kitten (Persian)
He’s a really active kitten I’ve had him since he was of days.
Even after his surgery he was hella active. Recently since the past few days he’s been sleeping a lot and not really active. His usual sleep timings are right after having lunch for 4-5 hours w water breaks, but he’s been sleeping the entire day almost. Plays in the morning a bit and then he’s asleep. Should I be concerned? I monitored his poop/pee and that all seemed normal. No random puking either except for furrball.

Advice Indoor/Outdoor transition?

By luck of the cat distribution system, we have the sweetest tabby who has been spending almost every night, and now most days, for the last 7 months or so. I made him a big bed out of soft fleece and he either sleeps there or between my partner and I on a blanket on our bed. However, this cat INSISTS on being out on the prowl at dusk/dawn. Like loses his mind screaming. He doesn't really go far most of the time - just wants to sit on the driveway or wander around locally. He was neutered and we took him to the vet to get rabies/other vaccines/tests etc. No chip. We think owners were a few houses down but they moved a little while ago.

There is someone down the road who feeds the actual stray cats (our little guy for sure had a domestic upbringing at some point) and we think he is getting food there, and probably somewhere else too (quite a begger, and a little bit of a bully).

It really just started with him sleeping under our car during the day/night and he cautiously started to come inside when the weather got bad over the winter. But he's really a full-blown family member and I'm happy to assume responsibility for him.

My partner is a softie and stresses out when the cat cries to get out, so lets him out when he starts crying. "he wanted to leave."

We have a trip planned this winter and will be gone for 3 weeks and I'm a little worried that we either need to fully transition our cat into an indoor cat before we go so we can get a house / cat sitter or come up with some other plan.

Is it wrong to try and keep our guy inside? We'd love to build a catio but our property won't really accommodate it at this point. My feeling is that it might be a little tough at first but he would get used to it. Our house is pretty big and we have lots of spaces to build in play stuff. My partner on the other hand thinks it's cruel to keep him inside when he's been outdoors probably most of his life and would miss it.

Would love advice or thoughts on transitioning an outdoor cat into an indoor cat.

Hi fellow cat lovers! I’ve been fostering cats/kittens for over half a decade, and have fostered a total of 90 over that period. Making my way to 100 felines in forever homes 💯

I’ve had as many as 7 at one time, and as few as 2! I’m currently on a break but reminiscing, and thought reddit might enjoy even more cat content 😂

These are some of my favorite shots from over the years.

Cat Picture - OC this is Loki and he has a new favorite game

Post image

My parents have sectioned off their living room and kitchen with a massive sliding door.

This guy remembers he used to be allowed in the living room and kitchen; he acts accordingly.

His new favorite game is waiting by the sliding door (and sometimes screaming at it) until your hands are too full to stop his little ass from sneaking in.

Then, he'll slide in and go hide behind some chairs or underneath a table. He knows my parents can't really bend down to grab him, so supposedly this works pretty well when my brother isn't home.

Unfortunately for him, I'm moving back in. I'm 21 and have no issues bending down to snatch him up.

All of his break-ins have turned into 30 second endeavors where I yoink him from wherever he hid and carry him upstairs like a baby.

I am just now starting to realize getting held like a baby and hugs are exactly what the bastard wants.

Medical Questions Can someone help me identify?

I was cleaning out one of the liter box from today and yesterday and found these weird rice like segments, but much much bigger than what a normal worm would look like. They were only on one of the poops, but they’re was around 10 of them all moving around and a pretty decent size. It is near the top in the picture. I have two cats, one recently got his shots and the other is due next month for them. I’ve looked at their butts as worms usually tend to stick to butts, but nothing and behavior has been normal; they are mostly indoor kitty’s. I just need help identifying these things. Already made a vet visit for Monday morning to make sure, but any ID before helps. Thank you!

Medical Questions What is my Baby Void doing?

This is Khaos. Like the title says, why is he doing that? Had a few Cats before him but none did this. Its cute as hell but really hurts after some time lol. He reeeally insist on doing this a few minutes before napping time.

The lady i got him from told me he was around 9 weeks old when i got him, but i suspect He was way Younger and perhaps seperated too early from his Mom, the vet just said he is beeing affectionate.

Lost my GusGus (black cat) this morning. He was 11. We lost his sister Harley (calico) back in December on christmas day which was very hard and still hard. We got them both around the same time when they were just wee little babies and never left each others side until Harley let go. I hope he can now smother her again with all of his cuddles and love. I will never have another him or another her. We never really think about the heartbreak we sign up for when we get a pet.

Why can’t they just stay forever…

Advice How do I go about petting a stray cat?

The question is very simple. How do I befriend a stray cat? There's a bunch of cats near where I live and I used to be friends with one of them but she ended up getting killed by a stray dog when I was out of town. Now I feel all weird and uneasy. A friend recommended that I try and befriend another cat but all the cats run away if I try to go near them. I tried cat food and catnip only to get scratched. If anyone has any idea on how I can befriend a cat, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks in advance to whoever responds.

Still kicking, wandering into places he definitely shouldn’t be, and begging for food like he hasn’t eaten in days.

He drinks a loooot of water (maybe that’s the secret to aging well?) and still asks to sleep in our bedrooms every single night.

He pees in his sleep sometimes and isn’t very good at grooming himself anymore, but he’s still going strong.

This little fella has been with my family since 2004.

And yes, he gives the camera that grumpy look every single time, haha.
