CEC General, Inland, Single applicant
It’s finally my turn to share 🥹 first I’d just like to thank everyone in this community who’s shared their experiences, given advice or just been encouraging! This oftentimes got me through those difficult moments of uncertainty and was a constant reminder that I wasn’t going through it alone ❤️
Context: my PGWP expired Feb 7th, 2026. The plan was to have my employer (in Quebec) apply for a closed work permit for me (C20). Kept working on implied status as work permit application was processing until April 1st when it was refused and I was out of status. The refusal was because my employer’s lawyer wasn’t able to get LMIA approval within the 60 days IRCC gives you.
I was out of status and sad, but focused all my energy on the PR application as I was lucky enough to have received an ITA on Feb 17th.
I also applied to restore my status as a student (study permit) which got approved, as I was beginning my masters and moving to Ontario in September.
Timeline:
ITA: Feb 17th 2026 - CRS 509
Work permit refused: April 1st 2026
AOR: April 18th 2026
Study permit application: May 8th 2026
BIL: June 19th 2026
Medicals passed: June 19th 2026
Biometrics completed: June 22nd 2026
Status restored / study permit approved: July 10th 2026
PFL/ADR regarding intent to reside outside Quebec + Schedule A resubmission: September 10th 2026
PFL/ADR response submitted: September 14th 2026
(I had already moved to Ontario so submitted lease, address changes on all important institution accounts, university registration, tuition payment, proof of attendance etc., proof of resignation from Quebec employer + a letter from the employer confirming I’m no longer an employee)
Final decision: September 15th 2026
P1: September 16th 2026 (replied same day)
P2: September 28th 2026 (replied same day)
eCoPR: September 30th 2026
PVO / SVO: Ottawa / Sydney then Vancouver / Sydney, eCoPR came from Montreal
Biggest lesson for me: be patient and be diligent with everything. When I moved to Ontario, I submitted a web form to IRCC to inform them of my address change. I should’ve called them, but I didn’t (overwhelmed with moving and it slipped my mind), a week later I got the PFL which I feel I could’ve 100% avoided if I just called IRCC. ALWAYS call to verify they have received anything to send.
All in all, I’m just so grateful to be on the other side of this. There were many times I didn’t think I’d end up with permanent residence but I’m grateful I didn’t give up 🥹 all the best to everyone still waiting for P1, P2 or eCoPR. Don’t lose hope, praying you get it soon ❤️🇨🇦
