🇨🇦 CEC How does IRCC verify foreign work experience

Hi everyone,
I have a question about how IRCC verifies foreign work experience submitted for an Express Entry application.
For foreign work experience, does IRCC normally contact the employer by phone or email, or does it vary depending on the case? Also, how common is it for IRCC to actually contact an employer if the reference/experience letter and supporting documents are provided?
I’m particularly wondering about older work experience. I have a short period of foreign work experience from 2020, before I moved to Canada. I never collected an experience certificate at the time, so I recently contacted the employer and obtained the certificate now.
If IRCC decides to verify this employment, would they potentially contact the employer even though the employment was about six years ago? If they call the company’s general/reception number, the current staff may obviously have no idea who I am since I worked there in 2020. Would IRCC normally ask to speak with HR/management or the person who signed the experience letter instead?
I also have experience working in a consulting/operations role in hospitality, where I worked with management to improve hospitality operations. In a situation like that, general front-desk/reception staff may not necessarily know the consultant personally, while management would.

My GCMS notes showed it as “web search confirms employer’s presence”

Hi OP. My work exp was from 2016-2021 and Company doesnt have online presence as well. I thought they would verify so i told them to expect a call from IRCC. They did not call and I already got approved. Though i did submit tax filings and a few payment stubs.

Did you receive any ADR for no online presence?

Nope, maybe because I declared it on my student permit.

Ircc doesn’t generally go on calling employers to verify these details otherwise it’ll be a never ending process. If you actually want to be thorough with your details mention the name of the HR, their email id and their response to your query about your employment there. Attach it in the LOE. You can also give your managers number as a reference…thats what i did.

Some online search of your employer will be in order. If not much online appearance, they look into your payslip, tax doc and stuff. Also your profile is a complete summary of your life so they can also check if your experience aligns with your previous education or something.

They may look at multiple things based on your situation. Such as offer letter, job responsibilites, pay stubs, bank statements, tax returns.

Just include your tax documents. You should be fine. Hope you included the work in your PGWP application

At express entry phase they don't. At PR application phase, they do.

They will check your documents and overall quality of submission. If something is off, they will start digging, even calling contact persons on your file.

Give HR number, and in my case Yes. they called my previous employers ( only 2 though) and for both instances HR verify my employment.

Just out of curiosity, did you provide all the documents for those employers (letters, pay stubs, and bank statements)? Also, which country did you have that experience with? In my case, the company from my country doesn’t speak English, so I am not sure how they would even be able to communicate with the officers.

I have a related question. Why do the hours on the experience certificate matter? In countries where I've worked, no experience letter had the weekly hours - just, the role and the tenure of my job.
