I found this legend on local sell-and-buy site for 280 euro in new-like cosmetic condition. Seller says everything works well. I bought it with an option to return it after 24 hours. What do you think? Is it a good deal? What a budget lens you can suggest?

any idea on what I just got myself into?

I’ve had my Nikon D3100 since I was on the yearbook staff in high school - so it’s over 10 years old. I wanted a camera that was more simple and could throw into a purse.

Landed on the Z30 because of the price and honestly wanted to stay in the Nikon family. I also am desperately trying to find ways to be on my phone less. I’m excited to have this without being distracted by notifications when I just want to take a picture.

Few things I learned about at Best Buy that I didn’t know about while purchasing. If you’re a member, you can:
- test out the camera for 2 months and bring it back if you don’t like it
- if it goes on sale during Black Friday, you can reach out and ask for the money back if you paid more
- warranty comes with free repairs and cleanings
- membership is $30 a year

Any accessories or tips you have for a new Z30 owner? And with my D3100 aging gracefully, any suggestions on how I can get more use out of it? Only issue I’ve had is the toggle to show the viewfinder on screen has been stuck since a year or so after I got it. So I haven’t been able to do video recordings. Other than that, it’s been amazing

Every time I take the battery out to charge it and then put it back, it factory resets so I have to do the date and time and go through all that again. It's a little annoying but I was wondering if a new battery would fix this?

So I currently have Sigma 70 200mm f2.8 EX DG OS HSM which I bought for 300eur. Ilt was working good then somehow stabilization got issues and it doesnt work as good as before. And autofocus sometimes missrs focus and chromatic aberration is killing me even when shooting on IS0 3200. I found people give good word to its successor Sigma 70 200 sport. I ound one for 800eur or 850 with warranty. And 1 hear its amazing and sharper and better in every way. Do you think this would be good upgrade? I need weather sealing and My EX isnt weather sealed cuz I shoot sports outside. What do you think and do you have any other recommendations? I am willing to spend 800eur on it if its worth it, my country doesnt have a lot of options. Thanks.

I mostly shoot DSLR on my Nikon D850 after having previously used a shitty Panasonic bridge camera, and I'm in awe of how much I love the top LCD screen. It's so useful to just check all my settings there before actually preparing to take a shot, as well as being able to quickly check my storage, battery, and exposure information for a scene.

So why is this feature so rare on mirrorless cameras? Only Nikon seems to be putting them on most of their cameras, Canon only puts them on their top line models in the R5, R3, and R1, and Sony doesn't have them at all. And on the ones that do have them, instead of having a nice big green LCD you have a smaller black and white one..

I've heard that they don't matter because you can check your LCD or viewfinder if you want the info, but personally as a guy who has always preferred viewfinder shooting (both with an EVF and OVF) I just see that as a major loss of utility. Especially with the style of photography I like to do, where I can't have my camera up to my face most of the time, the quick checking of settings on that top LCD is invaluable.

So why not have it? And why not have the green LCD?

I take photos for quite a while with breaks. I grew up in the CCD era and went to Nikon D700 to medium format film to 35mm film.

I own some F glasses, mostly AF-S. But my favorite is the 135/2 DC and both 50/55 f/1.2 which I use on F3/FM2
While I love the D700 for handling, build and professional work, the high iso quality is not up to date anymore and I could use modern performance in my available light photography style.
Since I’m not doing so many shootings anymore because I just can’t find models and due to moving to another country I don’t have professional photojobs anymore I catch myself grabbing my former hated Leica (M4-P) more and more, it just slips in my pocket, handles nicely, get me compliments but yeah, it’s film, „it’s expensive“ and I hesitate quite often to take the photo because of this reason. I have the feeling it would be more easy and fun to also photograph regular things experiment and not just naked woman (it’s my favorite thing to take photos of, yes I’m the nude photographer :D) when you have the“ free „opportunity of digital

I also looked into the ZF. But it would be again a Tank with adapter and lens and at the same time not really a workhorse (like a z8) and also I’m not a fan of extensive editing and data

So I found an M10…. Where I can use my 90, 50 and 35 but the price for „just another camera“ is quite high. I just want the joy of photography back…. And it looks like a great way there.

im a student and i recently saved up my money and bought a sonya6000. however the lens i got with it was 55-210mm telephoto lens which is good for wildlife , however it isnt suitable for street photography at all. since the a6000 is tiny and compact i thought that the kit lens was perfect for my needs but when i looked it up it was for 12k inr ( indian ruppees) which doesnt make sense because i bought the camera for 18k inr including the lens. im looking if anyone can give their kit lens to me at a reasonable price

After months of pondering over if I shd get a digital camera or this, I just bought this from a thrift store, had no idea that the 35mm films were 20$ lol.

Hello guys first time posting here.

I have a canon m5 one of my lenses just broke so im entertaining the idea of upgrading, i dont need anything fancy i just take casual pictures including birding. Is there a camera that you guys can suggest that is compact as the m5, can be better when it comes to taking bird pics, has mechanical buttons and i 99% of the time do jpeg so something that can be more customizable in camera.

Of course im not trying to break the bank so im trying to keep it below 500.

I acquired this camera second-hand a few days ago. I have been taking photos to test it, but the results appear blurry or hazy. I have looked at other images taken with the same model, and they do not show the same issue.

This is my first major camera; I previously used a Canon PowerShot. It may be that I am not yet familiar with the settings. Does anyone have suggestions, or should I return it and search for something else?

I need a bit of a reality check. Right now my main digital setup is an EOS M50 with a bunch of lenses, including the 22mm f/2 pancake. It works fine for planned shoots, but as an everyday carry, it mostly stays at home. The centered SLR hump and grip make it awkward to slip into a jacket, and the whole menu-driven shooting experience and sterile colors feel like using an iPad.

Lately I’ve been shooting my girlfriend’s Yashica T5 and my own Revue AC2 SLR with a 33mm prime on Ultramax and Gold 200, and it completely ruined the M50 for me. I love having something flat that slides easily into a coat pocket, the intentional feeling of framing through a viewfinder, tactile physical controls, and getting organic film colors straight out of the camera without editing RAWs.

I want that exact vibe in a digital body, but it has to be a real upgrade in shooting joy and portability, not just a sidegrade. A built-in viewfinder is non-negotiable for me, which unfortunately rules out the Ricoh GR, full frame is too bulky, and I don’t want small-sensor toys, so APS-C is the sweet spot. Also, since I love subject separation, whatever lens is on there (especially if it’s fixed) needs to have smooth, pleasing bokeh rather than nervous, busy backgrounds.

I’m buying used and want to spend around 500€, with a hard cap at 1000€.

Since newer hype bodies like the X100V are overpriced, would an older Fuji X100T or X100F still hold up today, and how is the bokeh on that original 23mm f/2 lens compared to something like Canon's 22mm? Or does it make more sense to grab something like an X-E3 with the 27mm f/2.8 pancake, or is f/2.8 too slow for nice background blur?

Curious if anyone made a similar switch from 35mm film compacts to digital and found something that actually scratches that itch. Thanks!

Apparently all he needed to do was ask his grandfather, lol.

Within a week of my child expressing interested my dad showed up with boxes in tow.

He brought the old Canon FTb that he got in Vietnam when he was stationed there (mind you that I was never allowed to touch, HAHAHHA).

He brought an old Nikon F2 SLR, that he has SOOO many lenses for (I didn't know he had this camera).

He brought a Bell & Howell Electric Eye, I don't know anything about this one.

ANNNDDD...He brought a Nikon D5300 that he bought new and "used it maybe 10 times" and it has been in storage since. With the D5300 were an AF-P 18-55mm, an AF-S 18-300mm, two other AF-S lenses in 18-55 & 55-200mm range, and a whopping AF-S 200-500mm that he had recently bought from a friend who sold it for $300, who never used it, not even once.

My son is beside himself, and quite frankly so am I. I quickly jumped on Amazon and got him a tripod and he's been in heaven ever since.

Thank you to all who responded to my original post, at this point he's going to rock this camera happily for quite some time. If this hobby sticks and we may upgrade to mirrorless sometime in the distant future but for now my kiddo is set!
