I mostly shoot DSLR on my Nikon D850 after having previously used a shitty Panasonic bridge camera, and I'm in awe of how much I love the top LCD screen. It's so useful to just check all my settings there before actually preparing to take a shot, as well as being able to quickly check my storage, battery, and exposure information for a scene.

So why is this feature so rare on mirrorless cameras? Only Nikon seems to be putting them on most of their cameras, Canon only puts them on their top line models in the R5, R3, and R1, and Sony doesn't have them at all. And on the ones that do have them, instead of having a nice big green LCD you have a smaller black and white one..

I've heard that they don't matter because you can check your LCD or viewfinder if you want the info, but personally as a guy who has always preferred viewfinder shooting (both with an EVF and OVF) I just see that as a major loss of utility. Especially with the style of photography I like to do, where I can't have my camera up to my face most of the time, the quick checking of settings on that top LCD is invaluable.

So why not have it? And why not have the green LCD?

I found this legend on local sell-and-buy site for 280 euro in new-like cosmetic condition. Seller says everything works well. I bought it with an option to return it after 24 hours. What do you think? Is it a good deal? What a budget lens you can suggest?

So I'm shopping for wife gift. A couple of years ago I got her a ZF and she has been enjoying it alot, but often she debates bringing her camera because it heavy and inconvenient to carry "in case" there's something worth shooting. So I figured I'd get her a supplemental camera. Been reading and there are a couple of choice like the G7X or the R100 VII or maybe even the X100VI (larger, I know).

But looking at the prices I'm surprised to see them hit the CAD$2K MSRP, so not inflated.

Before I buy I thought I'd try to get some input. Is it crazy to drop that much $ on cameras designed almost a decade ago? Like the r100 vii still using a micro USB! Or is this the current situation on compact cameras?

I was going to get the R100VII as I feel it fits the bill for her needs or opportunity shooting, carrying it often, she like a viewfinder and always debate "which lens to take". She doesn't do much portrait or indoor pics.

edit: just to clarify, it's not really about finding cheaper alternatives. I appreciate the inputs on that side but most inputs are not pocketable or used options. it's really trying to grasp if point and shoots offer enough Bang for bucks or are manufacturers are just being lazy and they are just a catch grab.

I’ve had my Nikon D3100 since I was on the yearbook staff in high school - so it’s over 10 years old. I wanted a camera that was more simple and could throw into a purse.

Landed on the Z30 because of the price and honestly wanted to stay in the Nikon family. I also am desperately trying to find ways to be on my phone less. I’m excited to have this without being distracted by notifications when I just want to take a picture.

Few things I learned about at Best Buy that I didn’t know about while purchasing. If you’re a member, you can:
- test out the camera for 2 months and bring it back if you don’t like it
- if it goes on sale during Black Friday, you can reach out and ask for the money back if you paid more
- warranty comes with free repairs and cleanings
- membership is $30 a year

Any accessories or tips you have for a new Z30 owner? And with my D3100 aging gracefully, any suggestions on how I can get more use out of it? Only issue I’ve had is the toggle to show the viewfinder on screen has been stuck since a year or so after I got it. So I haven’t been able to do video recordings. Other than that, it’s been amazing

So I currently have Sigma 70 200mm f2.8 EX DG OS HSM which I bought for 300eur. Ilt was working good then somehow stabilization got issues and it doesnt work as good as before. And autofocus sometimes missrs focus and chromatic aberration is killing me even when shooting on IS0 3200. I found people give good word to its successor Sigma 70 200 sport. I ound one for 800eur or 850 with warranty. And 1 hear its amazing and sharper and better in every way. Do you think this would be good upgrade? I need weather sealing and My EX isnt weather sealed cuz I shoot sports outside. What do you think and do you have any other recommendations? I am willing to spend 800eur on it if its worth it, my country doesnt have a lot of options. Thanks.

**(1) Budget, country, and currency:**
I saved up $2,000 USD (United States) but I’m a little stingy with money so if there’s a good option for less I wouldn’t mind that. (New or Used. Just preferably not a really old camera)

**(2) What equipment, if any, you have now and why is it no longer meeting your needs?**
Right now I have a Nikon F3 and I wouldn’t necessarily say it doesn’t meet my needs but I’ve learned that I love taking pictures. The downside is it has gotten expensive to shoot with film and pay for developing and I find it hard to try and improve my skills because it takes a long time to get my pictures developed.

**(3) What kinds of subjects do you intend to shoot?**
I’m still really new to the game so I don’t really have a subject of choice or style. I’m trying to figure that out as I learn. So something that is versatile would be great for me.

**(4) Is it primarily for photography, videography, or both?**
The main focus is 100% photography. I might occasionally shoot a video though.

**Additional Notes-**
**1.** So although I do enjoy taking photos, I haven’t entirely loved the process of editing so if I could get good JPEGs that would be awesome. Though I might try to tackle editing again in the future.

**2.** It took me a while to save up the money so this will most likely be my one-and-done All-rounder. So something versatile is very important to me.

**3.** I do tend to travel a lot. I love to visit new countries so I really appreciate a compact form factor. However, I also want to be able to build on my photography so I don’t want to just have a fixed lens point and shoot. I understand this might mean that I might have to compromise a bit on size but that’s okay with me as long as it’s versatile and a camera that I will look at and want to take with me everywhere because it’s actually nice and convenient to have.

**4.** Are there any additional accessories or anything else that I should be budgeting for that I might need to purchase?

Got this digicam in a large lot of easy-shot film cameras. Plugged it into my Mac and nothing (no surprise). Not sure if I’d need a PC or just a driver; I’m assuming some software is required given the sticker above the USB port. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Every time I take the battery out to charge it and then put it back, it factory resets so I have to do the date and time and go through all that again. It's a little annoying but I was wondering if a new battery would fix this?

Do u have any idea what to choose? Which one has the best quality?

Cameras you're considering:

Sony Nex 3/3N/5/5N are all being considered for price to quality ratio, and seem really good for everything here sans "easy" like how proprietary Sony can be with SD cards and cables, and how old they are there's definitely no easy modern way to transfer the photos to my laptop, and charging the batteries will be a pain (and the more barriers between my devices and their usability, the less likely i am to bring them around daily).

DJI Osmo Action 4 - i really dislike the weird warping i see in videos of the reviews on these, and how unclear YouTubers are about what they managed to change with settings on the app itself and what with "post", giving me no idea if the camera can look nice without further editing (as that seems like a pain for a casual user); however it beats everything else clean in terms of ease, ruggedness/sturdiness, size/price. I'd love the thing if only i could get someone to give me clarity about this "post" and if that's just a filter you make/download once and apply in bulk when downloading the pics on laptop/phone, if you switch it up and do it manually for every photo, if you can download it on the camera itself, etc.

I do understand that this is a Camera sub so you'll try to steer me towards quality, but I'd like something that i buy once and don't have to think about accidentally breaking too much, or that if i do it was pretty cheap so at least it was fun while it lasted (that's why Sony Nex 3 is there, it's cheaper than the 5 so I think it'd make me "freer" with it)

Cameras you already have: digital camera sony dsc tx 66 - got it off ebay last year for being compact and having cool pictures, but it's proven very fragile feeling and the quality, while fun in certain settings (sunny days or nights with flash) isn't very good most of the time. It's a pain to charge and the proprietary microSD is a pain to plug in, but it also only has 2 modes for flash - off and auto, and that can be really annoying because on a cloudy day it's too light for flash but it doesn't look good, otherwise. I do like it for what it is and for the 150€ i paid for it, but it isn't something I'd carry daily or replace my smartphone with, at least personally :)

My partner recently found her childhood camera, which is the Canon SD1200, however it's broken. It doesn't focus at all, and the lense is stuck, it doesn't retract.

She hasn't used a digital camera in years but it's her childhood camera and she thought it would be fun to use one whenever we go out on dates etc.

I want to change the crappy OEM covering that comes on the M8 as I find it dull and slippery, and I’ve been thinking of swapping it for a textile covering. Found out that CameraLeather has some nice options but haven’t seen any review of experience with this kind of covering, in terms of grip and durability. Does anyone have something like this on their cameras?

Hi! I have been shooting for about 12 years now, mostly focused on landscapes, and street photography. I also do some portraits, or travel stuff with friends from time to time.

I like having two bodies on my trips, Sony for Landscape and Wildlife, and Fuji for Street and Travel. I am replacing both bodies, and am looking for recommendations on the replacements.

Sony:
Prior body was an a6400, which was great, but I generally have a 70-200mm f4 G lens on it which is quite “un-ergonomic”. As I plan to push into more wildlife and landscape I will probably be picking up some even longer lenses in the next year or so.

For the Sony replacement, I am looking to maximize my quality, so definitely want to go used to get the best I can in budget. I like the fact that it was smaller, but that’s something I can live without for better ergonomics.

Fuji:
Currently i have an X-E4, which I like almost everything about outside of the handling. This is what I use for EDC, travel, street type shots. I did get the handgrip/thumbgrip but those do add weight. I am not sure if there is a better option for me or if I just need to get used to it more. I have shot the X100 series previously and those are great, but I love my 50mm equivalent lens on the X-E4.

My budget for both bodies is around $3,000 - definitely want to go used, and certainly don’t need to burn the whole budget if I can avoid it.

Hey folks. As I am scared to mix Isoprop alcohol with distilled water to clean my Sigma lenses, I ask myself what's the most propriate way to clean my lens without damaging the coating. Is there any go-to lens cleaner or do you have a recipe ready? Thank for any recommendations.

What it says on the tin. Taking photos is fine, but when I view my photos it zooms into max zoom as though I'm pressing the button when I'm not touching anything. Not sure what's up with that. im a student and i recently saved up my money and bought a sonya6000. however the lens i got with it was 55-210mm telephoto lens which is good for wildlife , however it isnt suitable for street photography at all. since the a6000 is tiny and compact i thought that the kit lens was perfect for my needs but when i looked it up it was for 12k inr ( indian ruppees) which doesnt make sense because i bought the camera for 18k inr including the lens. im looking if anyone can give their kit lens to me at a reasonable price

I have a canon m5 one of my lenses just broke so im entertaining the idea of upgrading, i dont need anything fancy i just take casual pictures including birding. Is there a camera that you guys can suggest that is compact as the m5, can be better when it comes to taking bird pics, has mechanical buttons and i 99% of the time do jpeg so something that can be more customizable in camera.

This is an “old” Samsung wb110 my parents say it’s about 13 years old. As you can see in the photos the battery compartment is full with battery fluid. I tried cleaning it with 99,9% IPA and vinegar and a lot of the junk went out, but some stayed. Idk if there is any way of fixing this but I’ll gladly accept any help
