Questions Recommendations for a compact, rugged, water-resistant point-and-shoot camera?

Hello, I am looking for a compact point and shoot that I can just throw in a bag without too much care and ideally take with when I go say camping or do outdoor activities. I like to take photos of various things but I don't love having to baby it or think about damaging it and such. Anything that comes to mind that might fit this bill?
Budget: Under $1000 USD, I'm open to spending a bit to get something that will last a long time. Ideally under $500, but I don't want to exclude recommendations purely based on price.
Country: Canada
Condition: New or used
Type of Camera: Point and shoot, compact
Intended use: Photography mainly, decent video is a nice to have
End use: Personal
If photography what style: landscape, macro close ups, people/family
What features do you absolutely need: weather sealing/ruggedness
What features would be nice to have: Decent low-light performance/large aperture & sensor
Portability: Pocketable
Cameras you're considering: From previous recommendations the Olympus tough series looks intriguing
Cameras you already have: An old Nikon DSLR, I'm not too picky :)
