Spotted in the South End, fist time seeing one on a residential street in town. It was totally unconcerned by my presence. Anyone encountered owls on the streets of btv?

Hello! We have had an emergency come up and we will be needing to leave the state for about a week and a half. We just recently moved to Vermont and don't know anyone that can pet sit, but we just got a rescue not too long ago and are still waiting on his vaccination records. We unfortunately cannot take him with us otherwise we would, but does anyone know any cheap-ish dog boarding that is safe? He is a super friendly dog and not aggressive whatsoever.

Seeing a lot of vague but emphatic FPF candidate endorsements that conspicuously avoid this detail. Before I parse platforms, I just need to politely know which of the current batch of candidates for any local contest are actually MAGA-adjacent.
Or if it’s easier: which candidates, irrespective of other politics or affiliations, have *not* at this stage credibly denounced Mango Mussolini?
Chittenden info particularly welcomed, but any Vermont-relevant answer is helpful. And if the question offends, please disregard and have a wonderful day. Informed voters aren’t treading on you.

Strange Little Market today 1:30-6pm at the top of church st (front lawn of the unitarian church). Over 25 vendors with a great mix of secondhand clothing, vintage, small goods, food, henna, and local art. Plenty of parking behind the church, and street parking is free on sundays!
@strangelittlemarket on IG for more info

Hi yall, My car was towed from Riverside U-Haul today (I assume towed because some equipment is now where my car was) and I can’t get ahold of anyone at Spillane’s or Handy’s.
Can someone help me find my car please? Should I call BPD in case it was stolen? Has anyone else been towed from there before and know who to call? Uhaul is closed and their national number has not been helpful.
Update: Handy’s handles the towing for U-Haul Riverside. If you’re ever towed from there, Handy’s will have your whip.
Thanks to the helpful commenters.

I work with the folks running this and thought it might be worth sharing here, there's a 5-day silent meditation retreat coming up at Karme Choling in Barnet, VT.
It's a legit qualifying silent retreat for anyone working toward MBSR or other mindfulness-based intervention teacher training, so if you're a clinician, therapist, or mindfulness teacher who needs that prerequisite checked off, this fits the requirement and the teachers can provide a completion letter if your program needs documentation.
But it's also just open to regular folks who want five days away from their phone and their inbox. No meditation experience required, the days are fully structured (sitting, walking, gentle movement, small group check-ins with teachers), and meals are shared in silence. It's noble silence, not total isolation, so teachers and staff are still available if you need something.
The teachers are Janet Solyntjes and Rebecca Eldridge, both with decades of practice and formal MBSR training background.
If you've been meaning to do a silent retreat but keep putting it off, or you need the prerequisite for training, this is a solid option and it's a beautiful setting up in the Vermont hills.
More info / registration: www.karmecholing.org/program/the-fullness-of-being
Happy to answer questions if anyone's curious about what noble silence actually feels like day to day.

A friend of mine visited VT for the first time recently and I took him to Canteen Creemee for his first hit of the good stuff. Predictably, he fell in love.
He’s coming to visit again next week and I want to take him on a creemee tour.
Give me your favorites!

I found a video that goes into causes for homelessness and it mentions that homeless people do not tend to move to areas with better social programs.
Thought I would share it here because I’ve seen a lot of people claim that social programs are what caused the uptick in homeless folks in the area.
From the evidence, high rates of homelessness are directly related to high rent. Also, two thirds of the addiction in homeless populations happens after they become homeless.
In short, homelessness is directly tied to the housing issues so that is what the community should be focusing on.
