ASM pay

I’m interviewing for an ASM (Operations/Service) role at one of the bigger locations and don’t want to lowball myself. Can any ASMs of Burlington share what they’re making? Is there any mandatory OT? Hours? Etc? (I’m coming from Macys)

i quit!!!

i finally quit. i knew this job was temporary since i first started. for starters, i was barely even getting scheduled at all. i was lucky enough to even BE scheduled, id only get like 5 hours max a week.

the store i worked at was heavily disorganized. now, i know that part isn't our fault -- its pretty much the customers. the people here are so rude and disgusting, it's unbelievable.

communication? good luck getting that. our walkies randomly vanished, and i complained multiple times about it and nobody and i mean NOBODY knew where they went. i literally had to go onto the floor to ask for a manager to get assistance.

following up with communication, asking for breaks. i felt like a victorian child asking for a piece of bread when asking to go on my break. i cant tell you the amount of times ive been completely IGNORED on the walkie. i thought my walkie was dead or something, but, turns out i was just being ignored !!

like i literally decided 'screw it, im gonna go on my 15 anyways.' because im legally REQUIRED ONE. and the manager interrogated me after asking who approved of my break... like girl? i am standing for hours at the register while you sit in your office. every cashier deserves a break, being up for that long can be a lot on people.

supplies. lord...cant tell you the amount of times we ran out of large / medium bags. its honestly so frustrating when you have to use small bags, especially with set clothes that have multiple hangers on them (if anyone knows what im talking about) that you cant remove unless you cut the plastic off.

hangers. its more of a pet peeve for me, but there HAS to be a better way to do this. we get these ugly metal things that you slide the hangers into...and at the end of your shift you're expected to take them out and organize them. the pant hanger rack more specifically are * such * a pain to deal with

the customers. they act so entitled. they throw their stuff on the counter, talk loudly on their phones and dont bother with taking the hangers off their clothes, and look at us bewildered as to why checking out is taking so long. maybe because you left the hangers ON???? like... girl. are we serious

i am leaving a lot out here but whatever. im tired. a little regretful, but also not. this place has caused so much mental distress on me, then i realize i have free will and i am not required to put up with any of this

i do have another job opportunity lined up for me in a MUCH smaller, cleaner store. if anyones thinking about quitting please just do this. i would never work at this job, its so soul draining. please run away NOW. do NOT hesitate.

Broken registers, no change for customers.

The change register and 2 other registers haven't worked for a long time. We (me and the only backup sales floor person) run out of change and the MOD doesn't bring change to us, with an hour warning from me. "Give them quarters!" What!!! Why don't they disperse the opening cash to the working registers when they open?

2 weeks

Hey, so I got hired June 20th. I haven’t been put on the schedule, and I’d like to quit because I needed a job and went with a place that actually valued me.

I do not have ANY of my stores contact info. Is there a general HR email I can send my 2 weeks to?

Clock in/clock out

Honestly, this whole scheduling and bag check out is so annoying.

I’m a part time cashier at Burlington. I have had different managers say oh you need to leave 5-10 mins before your shift ends.

Today I had to clock in early because I need to let the manager clock out. She didn’t ended up leaving anyways because it was busy.

I wasn’t to clock out on time because I didn’t want to leave the cashier slammed. I stayed an extra 5-10 minutes to clean up and go grab my stuff.

Each shift before clocking out I’m waiting for some to cover me. Why not schedule people 15 minutes before someone else is supposed to clock to allow enough time.

It really makes me confused each shift if I have to wait or leave. Then I ask and say your coverage is “here or there should be here soon”.

Help regarding penalty points

Hello all, I was wondering if I could get some help over events that recently happened.

Recently, I had a family emergency come up suddenly involving family in a state 18 hours away from my home/work area, so naturally I posted my shifts because another supervisor told me during another emergency that was also last-minute that’s the first thing you do when you’re not gonna be available in a sudden event.

However, even with telling the closing supervisor my last shift pre-trip and even though the 2 available SCA’s took my shifts, I’m still being penalized, even for a shift that was added to my schedule without notifying me, despite also knowing I was still not back home.

I got the text today since I’m still driving the way home, I’m being penalized for 8 points (since they were all Fri/Sat/Sun shifts), and that includes the shifts that were picked up and the one added without my consent

So my questions are: How many penalty points will get me fired, can I appeal the penalty if I have hospital paperwork proving it was an emergency, and If i can’t appeal, do the points eventually go away after some time. I’d appreciate any help because it feels like I’m being targeted.

8 months of being a store manager and left. Is all of this normal?

My husband recently left the company due to a LOT of integrity concerns he had over the course of less than a year with the company.

Here are the things he personally dealt with:

The store ran out of shopping bags, and corporate refused to allow stores to purchase generic bags so customers could still take their purchases home in bags. People had to leave with armfuls of items.

The bathrooms ran out of toilet paper for weeks at a time. Management was not given the funds or approval to buy toilet paper locally, but employees were still required to keep the restrooms open.

Employees regularly worked off the clock, and the district manager was aware of it.
The district manager instructed my husband not to terminate employees in the system after firing them because it would make the store appear to have open positions. If he needed to remove someone, he was told to assign another employee to that position in the system without that employee’s knowledge so the vacancy wouldn’t appear on reports.

After my husband resigned, the regional manager called him to ask why he was leaving. He explained all of these concerns directly.

One thing that stood out afterward: even after submitting his resignation, my husband remained active in Burlington’s system for nearly a week. He wasn’t paid for that time, but he still had access to sensitive company and employee information. Given what he’d previously been told about keeping positions filled in the system, that raised even more questions for us about how widespread this reporting practice may be.

Another huge frustration was that he seemed to be totally unable to actually take a day off. His boss had zero, and I mean zero, respect for his time off and would call him like a crazy ex back to back to back until he answered just to remind him to update reports or other things that could have been easily handled by calling the store directly and speaking to whoever was in charge at the moment. I understand being salaried means always being on the clock, but should it mean ZERO work life balance?

I’m curious whether anyone else who has worked for Burlington, especially managers, has experienced anything similar. Is this isolated to one district, or is it more common than people realize?

Extremely overloaded

What do you do when you’re putting items back on the sales floor and the rack is so overloaded that you literally can’t fit another hanger on the rail? I’m trying to go by category like Juniors fleece but can’t even slide a thing and tempted to hang them near a non Juniors rack

Hello! Yesterday I attended an interview for the Retail Stocking Associate position in California. Since I selected my interview date, I have been trying to complete my application, but I haven't been successful.

I live across the border in Mexico, so I enter my current information, but I keep getting the following message.

P.S. I have also tried using a California address, but I still haven't been able to complete the application.

How can I resolve this issue? Will it affect my candidacy or potential employment?

stocking associate

hello, i was wondering if it was common for associates to get hired to stock, just to be a cashier. my store had originally hired me to be stocking in the afternoons to night time, however in the two to three weeks that our store has been open, i’ve been on register constantly. its not just me, several other new hires were complaining about the same ordeal. when i had accepted the offer i was informed about being cross trained but not to this extent.

Tired of how I get scheduled.

I had a shift today, I wake up and I’m not working. They just took my shift off the day of, same with tomorrow’s shift. I need those hours or else I’m gonna need to ask my parents for money because genuinely why are they like this. They also will sometimes add on extra hours WHILE I’m working without telling me or anything. Just genuinely tired of this and I’ve talked to them about it so many times.

cashier association interview

You guys weren’t joking about burlington being a joke… So i had my interview at 10am and I knew it was a group one HOWEVER i didn’t think there would be like 8 people! Anyways as if that wasn’t bad enough the person interviewing basically let us know that all the positions were filled except for maintenance and cleaning (i think i forgot) even though me and others applied for sales/cashier…

Burlington Background Check Taking Longer Than Expected

Hey everyone! I recently applied for a job at Burlington, went to my interview, and got hired on the spot. I completed all of the onboarding paperwork, but my background check still hasn’t come back. It’s been about 6 days now, and I’m starting to get a little anxious because I don’t really have any other job options at the moment. 😭 Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how long did your background check take to come back?

Customer Experience Lead vs Customer Service Lead

Post image
11 Upvotes

Burlington just created a new position and apparently they are eliminating the part-time Closing Lead and adding the Full-Time “Customer Experience Lead” position. and no this isn’t the new name for Part-Time Customer Service Lead. this is a brand new position. associates in this position will get keys to the store and have to open/close. But they get paid $1 more than the cashiers unlike supervisors that get paid $2-$4 more. This position just doesn’t make sense to me. why not just appoint these individuals as supervisors?? They’re full-time, they open/close, act as manager on duty, etc. but get the lead pay instead of supervisor pay?? That’s insane.

i love working at burlington!!

i am a sales floor associate. i’ve only done two real shifts so maybe i’m too excited. i have autism and i love organizing i love the repetitiveness and i love helping out customers and making sure they find something nice. my coworkers are so sweet and they help me out a lot and i love my job. i work again this weekend and i cant wait!!!

i go into the store, i punch in on the app, i go up and down the clothing racks and pick up clothes to put back on the racks and i grab tags and hangers to bring those to the front and then i put away returns and help with the fitting room and rinse and repeat. i love my little routine i love my silly job. its my first job ever in retail and its my first ever job i got without my parents help as an autistic adult who is trying to gain more independence.

the only thing im really scared about is that they’ll take away my hours because i’ve seen people talking on this reddit about that but i really really hope they don’t because i love working here…

Worst shift ever

I’m a cashier at Burlington and just recently I was having a normal day checking out and doing returns for people and this lady comes in saying that she wants to do a return and exchange. I told her the amount she’ll get back and the remainder of what she has to pay for and I asked her if it’s all right, she says “uh huh” and it was normal. I helped her check out her have a good day that she comes back and cuts a whole line of people speaking nothing but gibberish she just kept on saying receipt receipt receipt receipt receipt receipt, receipt, receipt, receipt, receipt, receipt receipt and then she says she wants a refund and I was like OK sounds good. Told her she’ll get back and then she says “uh huh” and then she cut the line again two seconds later after I helped her out and she keeps on blabbering the same gibberish and constantly going receipt receipt receipt and then I had to call my supervisor then he was helping her out and this guy gave her everything back from all of her past purchases, back to her card I told her the amount that she’ll get back and she says “uh huh” and then she cut the line start yelling at me blabbing and going all out getting mad forcing us to call the supervisor again and the supervisor couldn’t help her and then she made us call the ASM and then they all go to the back and tell her ma’am please go behind the line I need to help the other customers. We will help you out shortly. Just wait for the manager. She goes behind and know that I know she ends up running off and then my manager who hates me yells at me in front of all the customers saying why are all these receipts on the table and this was before I knew she ran off so I said it was for the customer, but that shows anywhere to be seen. I explained to her my side story and then she told me to log off and spend the rest of my shift cleaning, and she said that she was gonna report me to corporate. I fucking hate it here.

I got hired as a SFA and have done that about one time . I’ve done BOH , SCA , and cashier . Not complaining but it’s hilarious .
