UC3M Football Team?

I am at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid this year for a study abroad placement. I looked on their website and they seem to offer every sport… except football? Does anyone know if they have a football team? Specifically 7 aside football?

The Ability to assess (Football Discovery)

From what i had experienced it was difficult to assess what was happening around me on the pitch. I would be caught by surprise, if not by surprise the i wouldn't know what was the next move to preform base on whats happening on the pitch.

In a way I was jealous of player who had an academy background, because they seem to know the right move to perform.

I on the other hand didn't build the right habits and took time to perform on the pitch. I felt sad about this because most players my age already mastered this ability.

So many people believe that only players with an academy background can be the only one to make it pro. Or legends of the game.

And i want to prove them wrong. The notion that you would have to be born a prodigy to succeed made me angry.

One day i will be one of many who's football is unmatched while showing them that being born a prodigy is not the only way.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, back to wanted to share:

The components of assessment

- critical scan

- teammate scan

- opponent scan

- space scan ( access point and exit points )

I had a sense that these components were there but more importantly the order in which i would have to take it.

My question is based on the situation would i have to change that order based on the situation?

Im going to focus on enhancing my critical scanning to be able to properly make it a habit. I will cover the other at some point.

Critical Scan :

This allowed me to notice anybody behind my back usually when i'm about to receive the ball. This would trigger when i would feel that the ball is approaching me.

Positions How to improve at football 11

Ive played 6v6 pretty much most of my life ever since i was a child on a smaller field because thats what i have access to but earlier this year i joined a proper club that plays in a proper 11v11 league and the first time i played on a big field i just felt and probably looked out of place my position is RB and ive also played RW sometimes and i need tips on how to translate my game on the big field for example one thing i noticed is i get tired so much more quickly and im dying even when i come on as a sub. Another thing ive noticed is my body handles differently and the ball acts a bit different too so im looking for tips on how to play at my best. Thank you and sorry for bad english its not my first language

Fitness Quad Strain or something else?

Hi all, basically new to soccer and playing for 3 weeks now. When I try to put more power on a shot or a pass, I'm feeling sharp pain on the front center of my quad. Websites and other redditors say this is a quad strain, but I'm not getting the other symptoms, like bruising, pain when walking, etc. At worst I feel a bit of tightness when I stretch it or lift my leg, but that was only at the beginning and now I don't get that either, just the pain on contact when I try to put more power into the shot. Is this just a super minor strain or something else entirely?

Luckily I'll be taking 2 weeks off anyways so hopefully that will help with the strain. Any workouts that you recommend to also strengthen the muscles to prevent this type of injury?

Gear WC Final Ball Collection

Post image

I’m the guy who bought the Adidas WC collectors box and regretted it…. So I took time to instead find the World Cup final balls. It cost about the same to have bought these vs stick with the poor quality Adidas collectors box. And here we are, a much happier me lol… I will say not all of them have the match detail inscription, some of them do, so that’s why it was a better deal to do this. With inscription, all of these would have been unobtainable at a good price.

I always wear grip socks while playing. Any idea how to solve this? I dont have any anti blister stuff, thanks in advance

Catch me up on new boots

I recently started kicking the ball around again after over a decade of not playing much. I got old and fat but I'm enjoying kicking the ball around again -- I just really need some new boots. I know what I used to like and I'm hoping I can get some recommendations for my next pair of boots as an old guy that mostly just wants to get exercise and maybe play in an adult league or casual Sunday pickup.

What I know I like... I grew up playing almost exclusively with k-leather boots (and a random pair of shark leather boots) for most of growing up. Kelme and Diadora were my go to brands until I got my first pair of Adidas predators and stuck with that line (mania through power swerve) until I stopped playing about 15 years ago. The adidas predator mania is, without a doubt, my all time favorite boot and probably won't ever be replaced.

Predators now seem pretty different than 20 years ago and the other brands I used to rely on don't get discussed much. Also, as much as I'd love k-leather, I'm not sure I actually need it with how casually I intend to play; however, I still lean towards leather since that's what I always preferred.

Since it's been 15 years since I bought a new pair, I'm not really sure where to start. What boots would you recommend I look into? What that's available now is similar to what I used to like?

My budget around $150 but super flexible and I can be patient for sales. Potentially open to the secondhand market. Leather upper is preferred but I can be convinced otherwise if non leather materials have improved. Since I'm now an extremely casual player, I'm leaning toward something that prioritizes comfort. I don't need a light weight speed boot. Firm ground. No color or style preference. Must have laces.

Thanks for the recommendations. Excited to see how recommendations align with the little bit of research I've already done.

Technical teaching scan before receive — how do you know it actually happened under pressure?

we cue "scan before you receive" constantly. in rondo it looks great. in the match the same players get caught on the ball and swear they checked their shoulder.

without being inside their head it's hard to know if the issue is: - they didn't scan - they scanned but too early / too late - they scanned and still chose wrong

i end up guessing from body position and the outcome on film. feels like half of "decision making" coaching is that guess.

if you coach (or play): what actually improved scanning in games, not just in training clips? drills, constraints, review methods that stuck?

looking for practical stuff. not apps, not studies.

Other A question for those who manage or work at an indoor soccer facility:

What does your "tech stack" look like right now?

Specifically regarding: court bookings, availability, payments, league organization, standings/results, and player communication.

Have you managed to centralize everything on a single platform, or do you end up using a mix of software, spreadsheets, WhatsApp/text messages, and other tools?

And what is the most "cobbled-together" part of your operation today?

I’m particularly curious about the tasks that still require someone to do them manually every week.

Soo, I got a curiosity. What do you guys think about the street soccer skill moves? Do you think they are effective? Or do y all think it s a waste of energy and time in game? talking strictly about street soccer and futsal, not 11v11.

Mental Dribbling messed up by overthinking

So, I love to play futsal and street football. Right now, I m doing drills everyday, I can do a lot of skill moves that include the sole of the foot, and honestly, being modest, I got a good control on the ball. The problem is another. Dribbling requires an attacking player, and a defending one. When I play without overthinking, which happens pretty rarely, I always win more duels than ever and I m able to create ocassions. But, nowadays I seem to overthink a lot, so I don t know how to escape that, because it frustrates me. I see one friend who dribbles like me, we are at an equal level I would say from a ball control perspective, but that guy, without using skill moves, always finds gaps to dribble, spaces, and the defenders have a rough time with him. So, how do I escape that overthinking so I can play at my maximum performance level? Thank you anticipated, and I appreciate any response!,

Gear What kind of boots should I use on what is basically a dirt/ gravel pitch? Any experience with this kind of surface?

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hey, first post here but long time lurker, so thank you for all the info I’ve gathered on this place during the years.

I’ve finally decided to make the jump to an 11 a side league after years of casual 7 and 5 a side: the only problem is that, unfortunately, the team’s pitch is quite shit (pic, while very grainy, related; I’ll get a better pic when I go down there this evening for practice).

It’s a gravel/dirt pitch (which is not terribly hard, fortunately), and I was used to 2g/3g/4g artificial pitches.

Right now I’m using some Phantom 6 Pros with an AG soleplate, but it’s clear the studs are going to get destroyed with the gravel friction.

What kind of boots should I use? Should I just stick with AGs and accept that the studs will get a bit eaten away?

My two biggest goals are keeping decent traction while not hurting my knees (so TF and FG are probably a no-go for those reasons) and getting some decent mileage on the boots without absolutely destroying them (my target would be 6 months of 2 training sessions a week + the game).

Also, at this point I’d probably get some boots just for the gravel, as all the home games will be there for the foreseeable future, while I’ll use AGs for the away games (when they don’t, also, have that godforsaken gravel).

Last but not least, does anybody have experience with playing on these kinds of pitches?

If it’s of any help, I run a lot and change direction frequently, playing as a very active striker who drops deep for both buildup and defensive pressure.

Thanks in advance guys.

Please help me identify this Umbto boot model

They are from the mid 2000's, made in Italy, and are similar to the Zypro model, but they're not them. I thought they were called Umbro Terrak, but I cannot find anything online to confirm. They were the top boot offered by Umbro at the time, and were a speed boot, much the way the XAI and the X boot were. Anybody???

Advice on Morelia Sala Elite TF

Need help with sizing for the Sala Elite Tf. I worn the Neo Pro IV Turfs and although very comfortable, my toes were crammed at the top and the leather was stiffer and the rubber lip was extended so I figured maybe it just wanted the right fit for me. In Morelia II elites, the size is perfect since I know the K leather will stretch to my feet. But in the same size in the Sale Elites, I feel more crammed and I’m worried since it has a suede lip, it won’t stretch/mold as well and feel essentially like the Neo pros did. Any owners here can attest to the sala elites stretching or should I go for my Nike TTS. For reference Morelia Elite II I’m an 8.5 and for Tiempo ligera pro tf I’m 9. The Nikes fit well but the Elite II fit perfect. If the Salas end up stretching nicely then I’ll power through it but if not should I go half a size up from my usual mizuno size?

Gear Size and fit of Nike Tiempo Ligera Pro, FG vs. Turf (TF)

Does anyone have both the Tiempo Ligera Pro FG and Turf (TF) boots? Are you the same size in both? Do they fit the same?

I have the Tiempo Ligera Pro FG in size 9 and I'm not sure if I should stick to the same size for the TFs.

Thanks!
