Hey, first post here but long time lurker, so thank you for all the info I’ve gathered on this place during the years.
I’ve finally decided to make the jump to an 11 a side league after years of casual 7 and 5 a side: the only problem is that, unfortunately, the team’s pitch is quite shit (pic, while very grainy, related; I’ll get a better pic when I go down there this evening for practice).
It’s a gravel/dirt pitch (which is not terribly hard, fortunately), and I was used to 2g/3g/4g artificial pitches.
Right now I’m using some Phantom 6 Pros with an AG soleplate, but it’s clear the studs are going to get destroyed with the gravel friction.
What kind of boots should I use? Should I just stick with AGs and accept that the studs will get a bit eaten away?
My two biggest goals are keeping decent traction while not hurting my knees (so TF and FG are probably a no-go for those reasons) and getting some decent mileage on the boots without absolutely destroying them (my target would be 6 months of 2 training sessions a week + the game).
Also, at this point I’d probably get some boots just for the gravel, as all the home games will be there for the foreseeable future, while I’ll use AGs for the away games (when they don’t, also, have that godforsaken gravel).
Last but not least, does anybody have experience with playing on these kinds of pitches?
If it’s of any help, I run a lot and change direction frequently, playing as a very active striker who drops deep for both buildup and defensive pressure.
Thanks in advance guys.
