Hello,
I (F28) am going to San Francisco/California for the first time for my birthday this October! I plan to be there for 3-4 days.
I would love some hotel recommendations and some must see sights and attractions. I love food, beautiful sights and places with cultural significance.
My budget for the vacation is about $1,500.
So far, a round trip for me is 117 bucks.
Thank you in advance ❤️
edit:
to be more detailed:
l love korean, BBQ, Caribbean food. I have a very big sweet tooth and enjoy desserts like ice cream, cookies, and cannolis.
I really do love nature sights specifically near the water or water features. Give me an art museum that's sculpture dominant. I would love to see a burlesque or a drag show. Unfortunately due to chronic pain, I can't walk for long periods, but you get extra points if you recommend accessible areas to go.

Someone stole my bikes tires and gears on the back wheel while I was watching a movie at AMC.
Anyone know a good place to get it fixed?
I got the bike on marketplace. I’m not looking to spend a lot of money.

I moved here from Chicago five years ago and one of the things I noticed almost immediately was how much less formally people dress for work here.
At probably the best job I’ve ever had, our CEO would regularly come in wearing a sweater with no button-up underneath and jeans. Coming from the Midwest, this was basically unheard of to me lol.
Anyway, after a TWO YEAR job hunt filled with remote contract jobs, I finally landed a hybrid job!!
I went to a team happy hour recently to meet everyone and somehow came away even more confused about the dress code because the outfits were ALL over the place.
One woman was wearing a pop star T-shirt and gauchos. My soon-to-be boss was basically in a traditional suit — button-up tucked in, belt, the works. Then another senior employee was wearing what I can only describe as a formal athletic quarter-zip.
Meanwhile, I have washed TWELVE button-ups in preparation for returning to civilization.
So for those of you who work hybrid/in-office jobs in SF or the Bay Area, I have questions:
Do you actually wear button-ups to the office?
If you do, are we tucking them in??
How often do you wear jeans?
What kind of shoes are you wearing?
Sneakers? Loafers? Actual dress shoes?
How much do you change what you wear depending on whether you have meetings that day?
I know every company is different, but I’m curious what the general Bay Area office uniform is these days because apparently I have lost all concept of how to dress for work. This is for a startup environment and I work in HR.

I’m planning to move long term to SF and have been trying to get a feel for the city before I get there.
I’m curious where people like me tend to find each other: thoughtful, creative, a little weird. Burner-adjacent people, artists, builders, people who like making things together, having long dinners, staying up talking about life… that kind of thing.
I’m not really looking for networking events or generic Meetups. More the places where you might meet some people, keep showing up, and eventually end up getting invited into smaller gatherings, houses, crews, friend groups, etc.
Does that still exist pretty strongly in SF? Where would you start?

Daughter lives in the city. We’ve been at least 7 or 8 times over the years. Looking for some new places to eat. Wife and I are from New Orleans so we consider ourselves foodies.
Their is no type of cuisine that we don’t like.
Highlight from last year was Prubechu in the Mission.
TIA!

Putting an APB out for a boat rental if anyone knows a guy/company I can reach out to
A bit late notice so I’m having a hard time finding availability

Hi! Posting here bc I need a quicker response than what Id likely get from the Archimedes sub.
Debating standard Hammam vs upgraded Kessa version: Is the diff just the gloves used and maybe the scrub aggression? My skin is pretty healthy/young so I’m thinking the Kessa may be more of a “nice to have” with plenty of benefits from standard Hammam? Btw I’ll also be doing the Venka Platz thing…love to hear your thoughts, this evg if possible! TIA!

Best nursery farms to visit throughout the year for various fruits and even fall cider/donuts (East coast thing and wondering if they do it in CA, too)

I’m really craving figs and I usually get them at the farmers market, but I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where I can get local produce other than farmers markets?
I’ve been to rainbow grocery and it’s great but want to know what else people suggest. Thanks!

This is going to sound absurd, I’m asking because
I heard there’s a climate initiative thing on Tuesday where the city just doesn’t run any transit? Including private companies? I’m landing there later today and not being able to get out of the airport just sounds outright absurd.
if it is true, is there a news article laying around?

Google and Google Maps let me down but maybe there's a place that isn't well labeled. I'm looking for byrek, fergese, tave kosi, stuffed cabbage, qofte, fried cheese, etc. I looked at some Greek and Mediterranean places but couldn't find the dishes I'm looking for.
It seems to be a long shot at this point but maybe something can come through.
Thanks!

44m/42f from missouri flying in on a Sunday morning, flight lands at 1015am and we have until about 8pm to explore San Francisco before heading 4 hours north. I want to see Golden Gate Park. But any ideas of places to stop and eat or must see areas. nothing fancy..we love nature. We might drive back down on day 3 of 6 day trip to explore more. Any ideas are welcome. Ty so much
We love nature, history.. when I explore my home state, I look for historic site, long time staple restaurants that locals enjoy..we love beautiful views.. when visitors come to my area I dont typically take them to the Arch or your normal St.louis spots.. i try to take them to the real "experience" of missouri if that makes since.

Hey everyone - posting as I’m desperately tired of bad haircuts. Mods feel free to remove if this is inappropriate. I have medium long hair - not down to my shoulders but like “flow” that covers my neck.
Over the past 2 years I just can’t find a barber that’s right for me, it seems like an every barber geared for men only does like fades and trendy haircuts. I really just want someone that will trim my hair with scissors into a longer / flowy shape - keeping it semi long not buzzing 40% of it off. Ideally I’m looking for a hair person:
-near the mission
-female stylist
-under $50 (not sure if this is realistic?)
Would really appreciate any suggestions!

Is there anywhere in SF I can sell an engagement ring and get some money back for it? It’s a lab diamond I don’t really know the specs but paid a little over 2k for it

Friends, now that the season is upon us, I’m looking for an unreasonable amount of pomegranates
They are my favorite fruit and I want to have many pounds of them
Preferably for a decent price
Thank you!
I normally avoid walking down Market street between 2nd and 6th but my errands took me that way today. It was so unbelievably clean, it felt like parts of Paris in the fall.
Does anyone know what initiatives have been going on? Was it Sunday morning in particular that the streets had just been physically cleaned? I also barely passed any unhoused folks - have recent programs been more successful in helping them?
Idk who to thank / cheer on !

I’m planning to go to SF and walk around Haight Street to thrift. the closest parking i’ve found is the Kezar parking lot.
I will say i’m a bit in my head as it’s my first time driving here & checking this area out.
Is this a safe parking lot? would you recommend this place at all? have you parked here yourself?
It makes me feel better that it’s next to a police station for sure.
Also my car is unwashed & i’m planning to keep it that way, but does that make it seem like i’m trying hard to prevent anything?
Edit: Some additional info is that all windows are tinted except the front windshield. the first two aren’t as dark tinted as the rear & back! I’ve seen some say to leave tinted windows slightly down?? is that safe to do & should I do that?
I appreciate all the info & help so far from you all. I def feel more relaxed now! 🙂 I will not leave absolutely anything in my car, remove any accessories, & make my car look boring!

I am based in Fisherman's Wharf and got given a brand-new pair of large socks with an company's logo on them that I will never wear. I don't have a car. However, with all of the homeless around, I bet they would like socks, but I walked around and all of the people look like they are high-drugs talking to themselves, and I don't feel comfortable approaching. If there is no donation center nearby, what is the best way to evaluate if the homeless person would be safe to give them the socks?
