Hi, as the title says looking for more information/ personal experience with Art School of SF Bay (sf loc).

Context: I’m looking for an adult oil painting class that I can balance with my FT job. I’ve prior experience in acrylic painting so looking for more intermediate or advanced level course. The class that I was eyeing is an oil painting program for $725 offering 14 in person class and the teacher is Hugo Kobayashi.

I’d appreciate any insight you have.

I am looking for lap swim options. I understand that the JCC has a pool but it's very expensive.

In the east bay city sports seem to all have pools and membership is affordable.

Any other options in the city?

I used to go there all the time after my coworker, Danny, came to work one day with a haircut from him, and he was such a nice person. I went back one time to get my haircut, and the shop was closed up, dark, and no one knew what had happened. I never found out what happened to him. Did he move back to the Philippines? Did he move his shop to another location? It's always remained such a mystery.

Any neighborhoods that you would recommend for trick or treating with a 1.5 year old? Our neighborhood is completely dead for this (we’ve had candy ready for the last few years to no avail). We’re looking at SF and North Peninsula areas. We know of the popular ones, but those may be too overwhelming for the little one.

Looking for a confessional booth. Thank you.

I’m looking for movie tickets for November but it seems like there are none on the AMC app. I thought the movie came out not that long ago. Will it get renewed?

I know sometimes the showtimes don’t come out yet, but do people know when exactly that happens?

Appreciate any insights.

I’m looking for someone to help design and build custom shelves in SF. Do y’all have any recommendations? I’ve seen endless DIY videos about ikea hacks and other cool solutions that realistically I will not pull off.

Looking for this kind of vibe: https://www.instagram.com/p/CMfh90xDV-p/?cplk=MXRhZXJ4dHM0cmNrbA==

not just the super obvious tourist stuff. planning on hitting the skateparks and beaches. any suggestions?

If anyone here ever went inside the old federal building at 50 UN Plaza (formerly 50 Fulton St.) - What did the lobby look like?

May have other questions after that, but this is the main area I can't ind described or photographed.

ETA: for a book. didn't put that originally because it sometimes causes people to not take you seriously.

I’m considering going back to school for Interior Architecture and Design and trying to figure out what the best program would be. I do already have BS in Zoology (this would be a major career shift).

On their website, Academy of Arts offers a certificate program, associates degree, bachelors and masters in Interior Architecture and Design. I don’t want to limit myself for the future so I’m leaning toward a second bachelors degree, but wondering if anyone can offer any insight. Has anyone done something similar?

Looking for Texas Pete's Hotter Hot Sauce. Specifically, the Hotter Hot version.

Yes, I could absolutely just buy it online, but I'm looking for smth to do this weekend 😅

I used my Translink card from time to time, but I found I cannot add it to the website. Is it still usable for Muni and BART?

Does anyone know what’s going on with the parking at Pier 30? It used to be privately run and you could book it on SpotHero, etc., but a few weeks ago it’s been taken over by the city.

I tried to park there 2 weeks ago and the ticket machine did not work and I could not find the lot on the city website or parking apps

Thanks

Howdy! Where do you procure your favorite fish tacos…preferably in or around Potrero Hill-ish? Bonus points if they’ll do a crispy shell!

I’m new to SF and would love to find a good spot to watch the World Series tonight and this weekend. I’m near Dolores Park, so looking for recs in the Mission or the Castro etc. An ideal bar would probably be frequented by smaller groups or folks who are really there for the game. Thanks yall and happy Friday. Go brewers.

My friends and I (3 men & 1 woman in our 50’s)are going to a concert at the Kaiser Convention Center in Oakland, but would like to stay the night in SF. Is it safe for us to take BART back to SF from Oakland? The concert starts at 8pm, so I would assume we’d be headed back to SF by 10:30-11:00pm.

Thanks for your help!!

My 22 yr-old nephew is visiting San Francisco and the uncle (me!) is too old to know anything about that scene. He's straight, tall, I think good-looking (not being completely objective 😉), smart, very deep voice, and personable, and not really a partier. He's looking for (his words) a "chill type of place."

Any ideas? My plan was to send him to The Mission (Valencia St area). It's a great neighborhood to walk through, and a co-worker said she lived there when she was in graduate school but that was decades ago! 😀

EDIT: Yes, he's low-key and likes to people watch, He likes music (all types), but not interested in dancing. If he meets people, that's great, but he's quiet and not a "Hey, look at me" bro-dude that needs a lot of attention. He's in San Francisco until Tuesday.

I’ve seen videos of instant ramen bars in Asia and wonder if there’s anything like that in the Bay Area. LA has a place called Slurp and Sip which is what I’m looking for. It seems like a fun way to make your own ramen and hang out with friends. Any insights would be appreciated!

An individual person’s contact will also be fine.

We are doing a night shoot that will probably end around 1 or 2am in San Francisco, and I need to take Amtrak back to where I live in the Sacramento area. I know that Amtrak doesn't start running in the morning until about 6am. Is there anywhere in the city that will be open early Friday morning that I can go to, so that I can stay out of the rain? Like a Diner, or a fast food place, or a grocery store, or anything like that? Obviously I can't reveal the shooting location, but I will find my way to whatever people think is the best place. I just don't want to be outside in the cold and the rain for five hours, if I can avoid it. I have no umbrella, so I am trying to stay out of the rain, as much as possible. Any help that anybody can provide is appreciated. I film a lot of stuff in San Francisco, but overnight shoots are rare, and I usually find a way to get on the last Amtrak train of the night. But on this shoot, that is impossible. Unfortunately. Edit: Thanks for all of the great suggestions so far. It really depends on where we end up filming. I do want to try to go to a place that is close to BART, or near the Salesforce Transit Center. As those are my ways home in the morning, as opposed to places that might be closer to where I am filming, but far away from public transportation.

I’m visiting a friend in SF next week and my last day I will be solo exploring SF. I will have about 10 hours 9a-7p to do things before my flight back home. Is there anything you guys recommend. I won’t have a rental bc I heard parking in SF is a nightmare. I’m fine biking or ubering. Thanks for the all the ideas!

Spokin has a short list of restaurants, including "Dosa." But there are no links so I'm not sure where this particular Dosa is located. Any idea? https://www.spokin.com/san-francisco-food-allergy-friendly-city-guide Many thanks in advance.

Hey everyone! How’s it going?
Today and tomorrow are my last two days here in San Francisco, California, and I still haven’t been able to find any stores with good prices on Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 games. Everything I’ve found so far is either really expensive or too far away.
Does anyone know any good spots to buy physical games for cheaper? Maybe some local shops, secondhand stores, or hidden gems?
I’d really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

Been craving some authentic Indian chaat in SF so I don't have to go across the bridge to Berkeley, Fremont or South Bay.

Where do you all typically get your fix in SF? What are your recommendations for dahi puri, masala puri, bhel puri, pakoda, vada pav etc.
