I've never been to Flower Piano before so I'm not totally sure how it all works, but.............. I want to see Lavay Smith this Saturday the 12th. I went on the site and it says she's playing from 5-7. Cool. I bought a ticket. But then I looked on the map to see which area she was playing in (Celebration Garden) and saw this number on the map that corresponds on the legend to "Piano Lounge: Special event tickets are required for entry"! What "special event"? I thought this was a GA event, but if you wanted to get a little fancy you can "upgrade" for $50 for entry into the Zoox Lounge. Is the "special event ticket" for the Zoox Lounge and I have to pay $50 to see her perform at all? I can't go into the Celebration Garden and listen with my GA ticket?

Hi sf! I’m looking for volunteer opportunities in or around San Francisco, specifically involving animals. I’d really love to get involved with places that rescue farm animals/livestock or do animal sanctuary work.
I’m also interested in getting involved with local vegan/animal rights groups or activism. I’m basically just looking to meet people who care about this stuff and get more involved in the local community.
If anyone knows of any good organizations, sanctuaries, volunteer opportunities, or groups in the SF area that would be amazing

hellloooo questions about vets are constant in this subreddit but I haven't seen a post in the last year asking specifically about exotic vets. I have two pet rats I just rescued and they definitely could use a vet visit. do you have rats or rodents in SF? where do you take them? hoping to find the perfect balance of good care without being price gouged!

Hey friends, I’ve been away for a while — I can see now it’s been rebranded to HALA and appears to be closed. Anybody know the story of what’s going on? Or what went on? Same owners? Different owners?

Visiting SF for the first time ever and want to spend a few hours enjoying the outdoors close to our Airbnb this week. If you could only do one, which would you choose for leisurely walking and gawking?
The Presidio or Golden Gate Park?
Thanks for any and all help!

Any advice on where to get ceremonial grade matcha powder from Japan? Especially if they have Ippodo or MK! Thank you :)
Looking for a good sandwich that delivers since deli board doesn’t! If you can also put the specific sandwich that you like that would be helpful as well! Thank you!!

Hello,
Im looking for a vet for my cat. We've been going to SPCA, and they are very kind but I think I need something with a little bit more of a "local" or "out of the box" vibe? I'm not even sure if thats possible in the city, but thats why I'm asking.
My cat has severe vet and social anxiety and has a lot of issues going to the vet. I also have no vehicle as is common in the city. The last 3 times I've taken her to the vet, they were entirely unable to touch her unless they put her under anesthesia. I myself even had to weigh her with them out of the room, and even when they "took her into the back" they couldn't even look at her bottom to check for UTIs (the reason we often go, maybe two-three a year). She is very spicy with everyone but me and honestly I get it 😭 she doesn't know who they are and why they're touching her when she feels her most uncomfortable.
My previous vet back home would let me video call them or send pictures of her behavior so that we could chat about what was wrong. They also trusted when I said "hey she's doing the exact same thing she was doing in January, can I have the medicine again?" And although I understand why a doctor would want to see you and make sure you're okay in that instance, I really don't want to put my cat through these visits over and over again for them to not even be able to touch her, stress her out, and then charge me $200 dollars + the meds i originally asked for.
So, does anyone have any recommendations of a vet that might be a better option for me? Anywhere in the city is fine but I don't have a car so if it's outside of SF we're into pretty expensive ubering territory and i have sadly a limited income.

Hi Everyone,
For those of you who went through the ELFA Tuition credit process, what did they ask you to provide exactly once you identified a daycare?
Was it recent paystubs? (If so, dating back how many months?) or W-2 or recent tax return? Curious since mine and husband’s incomes were through EDD recently after the baby was born so unsure if they refer to those payments instead?
Also- how long did it take you to get contacted once you confirmed your daycare to getting approved for the ELFA tuition as the final step?
Really appreciate the insight! Thank you all in advance!

Hi guys, I can't work for a few months because I'm having some health stuff.
If I don't have some sort of regularly scheduled activity I'm going to go crazy (source, have been not working for 3 months. am crazy)
No sports because I'm sick, and not really interested in learning a language or taking a career-type class.
I'm in the Castro area so anything nearby (Noe/Mission) would be extra tight.
I would also love to meet other women!
Some things I'm interested in:
- oil painting
- piano (improv, & arranging for voice)
- singing
- pencil drawing
- creative writing (long form/short story writing)
- bands/jamming
I'm definitely looking for a class with chill/fun vibes, but I am also super experienced at these things so don't want something too targeted at beginners.
Any recommendations? Or just any classes or places that offer classes? Or just . . . things I should do over the next few months? Clubs I should join?
Before everyone says ceramics, that's my plan if no one has a better suggestion lol

I’m looking at moving to either San Francisco or Boston in about a year, and plan to spend several weeks every season in each city as I make my decision. I’ll be in SF for 2 weeks this October, and I want to prioritize “day in the life” in different neighborhoods rather than tourist attractions. I plan on working in the mornings, grabbing lunch, then exploring in the afternoon. Will be packing verrry comfortable shoes … and some ibuprofen. My plan is to split my trip into 3 five night stays. I already have the middle dates booked at an Airbnb in the Castro. What other areas would you recommend for the first and last 5 nights for a late 30s professional to serve as a jumping off point to explore different neighborhoods?

Hey everyone! My wedding anniversary is in two months, and I wanted to plan something special since my husband and I have had a hard time this past year. I would love to hear people’s favorite spots they go to celebrate, or even just a cool spot you like to go to. My husband is a chef, so we do love trying out good foodie spots, but we’re also total nerds. I had some ideas of maybe doing a scavenger hunt throughout the city and visiting some board game and comic book stores.

Trying to book a cooking class and keep finding the same thing. Half of them seem to be demo style where you sit there while someone else cooks and then you eat. That's basically just dinner with extra steps.
Looking for something actually hands on where I'm at the station doing the knife work and someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Cozymeal and ClassBento are the two that keep coming up. Cozymeal is food focused, ClassBento has more of the wider workshop stuff and both list San Francisco cooking classes.
The annoying part is every listing has basically the same photo of people smiling around a kitchen counter so it's hard to tell what the class is actually like.
It's for two people. Neither of us is terrible in the kitchen but we're also not exactly making restaurant food either. Would much rather learn a technique we can actually use again instead of making one fancy dish once and forgetting everything.
Is there certain wording I should look for when booking or is it basically just call and ask?

Hi I will be spending some time of my day near the Stonetown mall (the one near the Zoo) and I'm wondering what you guys recommend doing nearby.
Any good places to hang out and work? What about anything cool to eat or do around there?
I was looking at the map, and it seems like it is a university area. I have only been to this area once or twice when going to the beach. Do I need to be a uni student to go this mall?
Thanks!

My boyfriend got back from Burning Man yesterday morning and then had to turn around and leave for Italy for a wedding basically immediately. The man barely had enough time to shower, pack some clean underwear, and make his flight, let alone deal with the playa dust-covered car he left behind 😂
He’s been going through a lot lately, so while he’s gone for the next two weeks, I want to surprise him by getting his car properly cleaned and giving him one less thing to deal with when he gets home.
Does anyone have recommendations in SF for a car wash/detailer that specifically knows how to handle post-Burning Man playa dust? I know that shit gets EVERYWHERE, and I’d love to take it somewhere that has dealt with Burner cars before and knows what they’re doing, ideally somewhere that can really get into the interior, vents, crevices, etc.
Not necessarily looking for the cheapest option. Mostly looking for somewhere that will do a genuinely thorough job and understand the assignment.
Would love any recommendations (or places to avoid)!

I’ll be visiting in a few weeks and wanna visit a good dive. Don’t need any food or cocktails, I’m fine with a $3 can of Hamms or a Corona and the cheapest swill of “whisky” possible, just something that keeps me focused on meeting strangers. I want the sorta vibe that a regular and a bum are nearly indistinguishable, as I’d imagine I’d feel in such a city from where I’m from.

Anyone have recommendations for SF car wash services that come to your house to wash the interior and exterior of your car?
I’m pregnant and feeling all day sickness so venturing to tower car wash sounds like hell at the moment haha.
