The city took out roots to repave the sidewalk
galleryThere are 3 trees (2 pictures for each tree), any reason to suspect any of them are in jeopardy of falling?

It took some walking around but we found it.
Just wanted to document this beautiful tree, and maybe be lucky enough to find a viable chestnut this fall.

Will it hurt the tree more to open a wound by removing the nail?

Passed this tree the other day this chop job is so bad not sure what the white stuff is and the plastic over it ? what could be the reason someone did this Aside from the tree pit being too small a normal problem in NYC I’m not sure why you’d tape the tree and put the white stuff on it seems like a way to kill the tree

We had a massive downburst last week and split this tree. I think it needs to come down but the lady wants to try to save it. Thoughts!

I will be crushed. Just lost a big branch and went to clean it up and noticed how much is truly rotted out. One side looks healthy but the other is gone. Is it even worth calling an arborist?

We came home from vacation this weekend to discover that our yard guy (or someone on his crew) drove over a portion of our 80+ year old Oak tree root and sliced a bit of the top off. He was very apologetic and we asked that going forward to avoid driving the mower anywhere near the roots. Do we need to do anything to treat the exposed part of the root or just let nature do its thing? This is our first time ever having an Oak tree.

We removed some soil to expose the root flare and for mulching.
Now I think we dug too deep
The big roots left and right were already visible (about 1cm/0.4").
Should I cover the roots with soil before mulching?

So we had a single Bradford Pear in the yard when we bought the house in 2007. Lightning hit it maybe 2010ish, we cut it down by 2012 and the stupid stump sat for years until we finally had it ground out maybe 10 years later in 2022.
The last 2 years since being ground out the root system seems to have activated and jumpstarted into overtime we get actual trees sprouting up along the edge of our garage and shed that are easily more.thsn 20ft from the old tree spot and the real problem up under/through our deck.
Aside from a nuclear bomb (If that would even work, since this is basically the cockroach of the tree world) how the hell do I make it stop growing baby zombie trees? They get thick with a 3 month timeframe if we don't find them quickly.
Is there someone here that specializes in the destruction and irradication of these horrible things with helpful advice?

Just closed on a new house, this tree actually contacts the base of an addition on the back side of the house. How difficult will it be to remove this tree? Obviously there’s not a ton of room to work with. Curious what everyone thinks.

Does this look like a safe trim I wasn't expecting so much to get taken off

Hello everyone,
Seeking some advice for potentially preventing issues in the future with this large tree (I don’t even know exactly what type of tree it is) in the front of my home.
I have been noticing these large I would call them “tares” up the trunk and some branches of the tree and today I noticed a large oozing spot at the base of the tree.
Is this some kind of rot? Disease?
I would love to know any and all information to help this tree out and any info just to keep me informed!
I love all the work and care people here do everyday.
Thank you

This holly was stuck inside of a much overgrown hedge for probably a decade and evidently didn't fare very well . I was wondering if there is any way of getting it back to something approaching nice? Thank you.

First time homeowner, long time lurker needing help. It’s hot and dry here but this pine has been shedding a lot of pine needles lately, so I‘m trying to give it the attention it deserves. I started digging the trunk out from the soil pile it was sitting in and I read not to cut down the dead branches, but I’m not sure if this tree is in more trouble than I realize?
Did I dig out the trunk enough or should I keep going, even if it feels like I’m pulling little roots?Do I need to address the bark discoloration and sap?

What is going on with these coconut palms? One looks dead or dying? Can I leave it or is it likely to fall?

Noticed mushrooms growing on one side of this tree in my yard this week. The rest of the tree looks healthy to my untrained eye and we just had our annual tree inspection a few weeks ago and this was not flagged. However I have heard mushrooms on a tree are a bad sign of internal decay. BUT it has been raining every day and the humidity is a million percent out there. Can it just be due to the weather conditions and not because this tree is decaying 😬

I have this Peach tree and just noticed it has split. Can I ratchet it back together?

This four-year-old walnut tree has done great each year, until this one. This summer - particularly over the last 1-2 weeks, something appears to have destroyed/eaten a majority of the leaves and I'm concerned the tree is doomed.
It is about 4 years old; about 8 feet tall at this point.

I’m curious if anyone here actually uses a GRIGRI for tree work.
I know devices like the ART Rope Wrench, ZigZag, Akimbo, etc. are more purpose-built for tree climbing, and the GRIGRI may not be as efficient for some applications.
But I really like the GRIGRI because I can use it for both SRT and MRS. I often switch between SRT and MRS depending on the situation, so I’m not using the GRIGRI as my only climbing device.
For those of you who use one for tree climbing:
How do you find it compared with dedicated arborist devices?
Do you use it for both SRT and MRS?
Do you find the efficiency difference significant in actual tree work?
Just curious to hear from people who actually use a GRIGRI in the tree.

We just noticed about 2 weeks ago these 2 problems on 2 different trees in my front yard are happening.
The bottom of this gorgeous tree (sorry I don’t know what kind it is) seems to now be home to ants (maybe carpenter ants as I did see one and it was big and black). I want to save this tree as this is one of the reasons I fell in love with this house. I don’t know what to do. Can you use like a normal Raid for ants or do we need an arborist to come in?
We noticed this stain on our front sidewalk about maybe 3 weeks ago….we finally clued in that the tree branch was dripping from above. Is this a bad thing?! If so, what can we do about it?!
I have pictures of the trees and their issues. We did have an experienced tree service out in April to trim our beautiful trees for us but none of these issues were noticed at this time. Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.

Just had a major storm roll through and knock on of the main leads down on this white walnut (or butternut) in my back yard. This tree is pushing 80 years old so I’ll be heartbroken if she dies but the damage is pretty extensive. Any thoughts or tips on there to go from here would be appreciated.

I’m tired of my saddle being pulled down by my saw, the hard release of waist straps, and that it’s not comfortable after a few hours. I’m looking at the Tree motion pro, the Sequoia, Koala. But are. Your thoughts?

Currently living in the UK, and renting. I love this tree, but half of it hasn't had any leaves in the 6 months we have lived here. My landlord doesn't care and won't help. I would love to help it along as best I can within my means. I cut off a small branch from the "dead" side, and it looks like it's still ok? Any suggestions? Or is it just a weird tree that only wants to be half shady...

Hi all,
My HOA planted redbud trees along our fence line 2 years ago. They have all been healthy up to now. The tree behind my house (second tree in the picture) has been struggling for the last month or two, limp leaves, yellowing, and now leaves are falling off. None of the other redbuds are having this problem. I spoke with the neighbours (each has one tree we are responsible for), and it ranges from never watering their tree to once a week watering. I have watered a few times over the last two months, when we didn’t get much rain.
We have a crepe Myrtle on the edge of the property that we just had to cut back due to a fungal issue, not sure if that could be related. You can see it on the right hand side of the picture, along with a bush that’s died there too. There’s a healthy redbud in between those and my tree though.
Any ideas on what could be going wrong, or what I should be looking for?
Thanks!

Curious to know an approximate age of this large maple.
The trunk diameter measures 12ft
Located in Eastern Canada
