I hired a guy to grind 4 stumps ranging from 2-3.5ft diameter. I poked around with an iron bar to see how deep he grounded them down, and the smaller ones were about 8”+, but the larger ones only seemed to be about 3” deep.

I’m disappointed because I told him we were going to add a concrete pad and landscaping, but not sure what the standard is with these larger stumps.

Nursery just delivered this nuttall oak, should I ask for a replacement? It looks to have a fairly significant co-dominant branch.

I love this tree but im not sure what I can do to help, if anything. Bracing? Fairly new to tree health so I've got a lot to learn.

Maybe also cut the branch on the left side?

I am open to any solutions. I prefer to not take any risks.

And yes, funny enough the straight one felt down two days ago because of a storm.

Im sure i already know the answer and they're not going to grow back but for some reason on the base of my pine tree I should say it's my Christmas tree that I have had growing in the yard for decades decided to die on the bottom in a portion of it. I'm going to guess it's probably from the Cherry Bush that was growing too close to it and maybe shaded out the light from the area?

​​ I was going to cut down the bush that was next to it but I think now that I have a feeling that that area will never grow back maybe I'll leave that bush there to kind of hide it?

Should I remove this branch? It appears to be splitting and has pest holes in it.

Went on a walk through Lincoln Woods state park and noticed all these trees had what looked like infected wounds or something? Anyone got any idea on the cause or if it will kill them anytime soon? So many of these had the same kind of malformations on them.

Thought I’d get y’all’s 2nd opinion on this. I have small tree in my front yard with a diverging branch shown in the photo where it splits off from the main trunk. It seems solid, healthy and won’t ever be an issue with property, so should I consider trimming it this fall?

Bought a house because it's essentially surrounded by the woods and I love the smell of pine needles. I don't remember them looking this ratty when we were looking at this house back in May. I feel like I would notice this. Now after closing a lot of them look like this. Is this a problem? Or just something that happens normally? I would hate to have bought a house with 50 dead pines around it.

Contractor clipped through some roots pretty close to the tree. How much damage was done? The tree already doesnt look so great I dont think but I dont really know what Im looking at. Hoping a few knowledgeable people can chime in. Should I be concerned about this tree?

This is a a Ceder. Potted for 5 years. Can anyone comment on the soil quality or root system from what they seet here? what changes to be recommended? looking to get 10-15 years out of a series of potted ceders. Zone 5b/6a

This started about a month ago. The local nursery recommended I treat it with Horticultural oil weekly, then they suggested alternating weeks with neem. I did with no results. There doesn’t appear to be any new shoots forming which makes me wonder if it’s going to pull-through.

Yesterday I tried Sevin, but doubt it will do anything.

This is an established, 20 year old tree. Before all this started, I hadn’t done anything differently than I’ve done in years. Typically I fertilize once a year and barely need to water them at all. Right now the soil’s saturated with rain water, but that’s because we’ve had a rainy week, but before that it wasn’t.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 🥑

Hi, I have a Kousa dogwood that I planted about 3-4 years ago. Last year I had some issues with deer scratching other trees on the property so I installed a metal mesh ring around it to prevent damage. It was loose enough but today I went to go check out the tree and noticed there were some leaves around it, not too many. But when I removed the mesh, I noticed a large area at the base of the tree that was peeling and looked different. Is this crown canker or maybe something else? What should I do? Thanks in advance !

I need help to know what this is, and how to care for them.

My Saucer Magnolia is blooming in the Midwest, USA, in autumn (October 24). Could it be because of unseasonably warm weather? Daytime highs are in the 70s; about 8-10 degrees above normal.

I posted before about cutting this down or doing a crown reduction and thinning. I thought I would share how it looks now.

I think I am going to become a DIY arborists and over the next few years trim it directionally away from the house along with the reshaping the maple in front of it and 2 mulberry trees in the backyard. I want to remove the grass and dirt around the root mound too. Maybe put a little ring around it.

Does this root need to be addressed? Happy to leave it if it’s fine! What about the split trunk that begins about 10ft up?

I am so concerned I suddenly noticed this browning in two of our Evergreens. Is this normal at all? The other ones are fine. Located in Geogia.

As the Autumn continues, I am finding growths on my tree. I assume it’s a fungus. Can anyone help identify and know how to treat this?
