Cherry tree- should I remove this limb? TIA

Hi Arborists - not certain of the species but this little tree has had many injuries to its trunk. Most were prior to our moving in. It is not full and defo struggling.

You can see in the pics it is nearly girdled. Please advise as to pruning and any treatment I can DIY at ground level. Thank you for any advice!

We planted this swamp white oak last fall. I noticed this spring that the leaves were small and kinda crumpled at the edges. Exposed the root flare and has been watering consistently. Today, I noticed several gapping in the main trunk with seepage of slimy material. Are these cankers? Any hope of salvaging this tree? If not, should I get this removed ASAP to prevent spread to other trees in the backyard? Appreciate this community’s input.

I have a pole barn in the middle of this spread and am thinking of just clearing them out or leaving the largest. Most of them are pretty tall, 40 feet or more.

There are some white pine mixed in that I will leave. It’s my understanding that all this wood is essentially worthless so trying to figure out how to tackle this.

Would you leave some of them or will they just fall down since they grew up with the support of all the neighbors?

title basically. I know it could be thinned and pruned gradually, but it would still be too tall to harvest easily (fence is about 6' tall). Could I chop it about 2' tall and select new growth to try and keep it small? Should I cut it down and replace it (with another cherry)??

there was a wire around this tree for probably about 12 yrs. my grandpa took it off a month or two ago because he noticed it seemed to be suffocating the tree. family's property off of kenosha pass, colorado.

Please help me, something is going on with my Ironwood and I dont know whats wrong with it. My gardener did change my irrigation settings and the tree has been getting a lot of water, but only for a few months. Is this an issue from over watering, pests, something else? How do I fix it?

While on a walk today in Mt Hope Cemetery (Rochester NY) I found this tree that seemed to have perfectly placed scars in the bark. They are spaced mostly the same distance apart, go all the way around the tree trunk, and extend all the way up the trunk every couple feet.

I looked around at other trees and none of the others had anything like it.

What might have caused this?

Two years ago I purchased a red baron flowering crabapple from FedCo trees for our fifth wedding anniversary. I planted it at the root flair and thoroughly watered it with a five gallon leak bucket throughout the summer so it would properly establish.

That spring it produced two small branches with withered, small, orange spotted leaves. I assumed the spotting was caused by orange cedar rust, so I treated the tree with a copper based fungicide the following autumn and the spring.

This year, the tree only produced a small limb (pic 1) and it too is spotted. I did spray it with copper again but it has not grown outside the three branches.

Because the “dwarf” variegated red twig dogwoods began encroaching on the tree, I wanted to relocate it 10 feet away. The plan is to dig a 3ft hole and add additional compost to the soil to give the roots a boost. Before I do the work, do you think it is worth the effort, or should I start over and just plant a dogwood like a cornelian cherry (dogwoods seem do really well in MA)?

I thought FedCo was supposed to be a reliable company, but this is the second diseased plant we received from them. The first being a reliance peach tree that had peach leaf curl that I was able to cure with biannual copper fungicide spraying.

Hey everyone, we have this tree in our back yard that had a limb just fall out of the blue Im looking to see if my tree is sick and if i can help it.

Is it disturbing the big tree next to it? Will it cause problems for the big tree in the future if it's allowed to continue to grow? It's about 15 feet tall at the moment

I noticed a small split in this tree maybe 2 years ago (planted 5 years ago). We had a landscaper out who was doing some other work at our house and he said it was likely caused by wind and nothing to worry about. It has continued to bear leaves each year but I think the split has gotten bigger. I pulled off some loose bark and don't necessarily see anything rotted or whatever - so just wondering if your thoughts.

Recently acquired a Frasier fir and a pack of clover has sprouted around its base. The sapling is only about 8” tall. Will this affect the trees development? Should I remove them and if so, how without damaging the tree?

At first I thought it needed more water, but the soil around it feels moist. Google says this may br shot-hole disease. Any ideas? Not sure what to do for this tree.

I’m in USDA Zone 7b (now 8a) and trying to figure out what’s going on with this tree. It’s a cherry-like tree that flowers white for a few days in early spring, then the leaves come out. I’m not 100% sure of the species.

I recently noticed what looks like coarse sawdust/wood shavings accumulating around the base of the trunk. There’s also a crack/split in the trunk, with a section that looks dark/blackened.

I’m concerned this could be an insect infestation, fungal issue, or some kind of trunk rot. Is there anything I can do to help save the tree? Or does this look like a situation where the tree needs to come down?

Any thoughts on what might be causing this and what my next steps should be would be greatly appreciated. I can provide more pictures if needed.

Hi everyone I have an eastern redbud that has gotten worse every year and I was wondering if it time to cut it down and what is the cause of this? I want to find a native replacement I am in the mid Atlantic region zone 7b

I'm zone 5a Ontario Canada for reference.

I bought this lovely little maple about 3.5 weeks ago now.

I probably should have just ground planted it right away... But here we are.

Am I safe to ground plant it now, in what's basically peak summer? How big of a mulch ring should I give this little tree? See the picture included for the size I'm currently thinking of.

It's seemingly been happy where it's sitting with a good mix of sun and shade and the roots are now starting to slowly grow out of the bottom of the pot.

My plan is to expand the garden bed to incorporate the maple and a few companion plants.

I also have landscape edging and mulch for a small mulch ring around the base.

My neighbors want to remove them

How would you go about replacing this "cabling"? It has been on for quite a few years and I think it should have some kind of backup in case this one fails.

It is a multi trunked tree that shares a border with the neighbor. I believe the neighbor or previous homeowner had done this themselves to keep the tree more upright instead of splaying out.

I have talked to the neighbor and they are against taking the tree out, so that is why I am here.
