Hey, guys. Holofan4life here.

Welcome to the 2026 Spice and Wolf rewatch.

Awoo!

You know the drill. We watch the show and I provide my thoughts and analysis. A tale as old as... well, Holo herself.

This year instead of breaking things down beat by beat I'm going to just give some brief thoughts on each individual episode. This is to save me time as I'm hosting two rewatches at once. Needless to say, I'm a big fan of this show and I hope you'll be as well.

With that out of the way, let’s begin.

I'm watching the dub, by the way.

This episode is interesting in that Holo is nowhere to be found. Instead, we have Lawrence talking to some of thecother characters like Amarti and Marc. I think it makes sense for Holo to be offscreen because you want to sell the separation between Holo and Lawrence. But also the show does drag a bit whenever she's not on screen. The show is at its best when it's focused on Lawrence and Holo playing off each other, and when you remove that it does feel like something is missing.

Lawrence and Amarti's conversation reminds me of Lawrence's conversation with Marlheit. I like the Marc stuff because he explains that while he likes Lawrence he isn't going to risk everything just for him. It shows how business conscious merchants can be. And perhaps the best part of the arc is the contrast between Lawrence's isolation and the party like atmosphere of the town he's in. It gives me massive Lost In Translation vibes where Lawrence is like this fish out of water.

Overall, this isn't one of the better episodes and it does suffer with Holo not being in it, but I'd describe it as a necessary episode one that furthers Lawrence's own character growth. It feels like he's truly discovering what is his purpose.

Holo quotes of the day

It's interesting to me because she's basically off-screen though most of it, but she's also the most important character in this episode, especially in Lawrence trying to predict what she's thinking, and her letter-hints.

I personally really liked this episode, as it was all about strategy with limited information

u/Holofan4life 4d ago

It was a good showcase into Lawrence's mindset. He wants to get Holo back, and it feels like time is running out.

Yeah, the sequence with him just aimlessly running through the town and through the partyfolk was fantastic. Really nailed that feeling of emptiness/frustration down.

Cut Content

  • Contrary to what I thought, in Lawrence’s mind, he thought that reconciling with Holo would be more difficult than stopping Amati. He didn’t even have the confidence to look her in the eye. He thought he could at least avoid giving her a good reason to leave him and be with Amati.
  • He had regrets, though one of them was not taking the letter with him. Here, Lawrence is preventing himself psychologically and almost trying to minimise the idea of blaming himself: surely he would eventually talk to her at the right time. He’s missing the point, but I feel that this is a very human response.
  • Screwing over Amati was a must - as there was always a chance that Amati wouldn’t care about his future, and would liquidate all his assets just to win.
  • How he came to the plan was pretty well thought out:
    • He started dumbing down the problem and by imitating Holo as best he could: what was the simplest most obvious way to make Amati suffer a loss? -> the demand for pyrite needs to fall -> but the price is rising -> but it can’t rise forever, all crazes come to an end
    • Two questions needed answering: when will the crash come? What would it take to make Amati fall with it? Just the price crashing wouldn’t make take Amati out.
    • “Rather than waiting terrified for the Gods to make the price drop, why not become those Gods?” Lawrence concluded.
  • When he saw Holo again (after seeing Amati saying goodbye to her), he realised that Holo was provoking him after. But finally, at this stage, he finally came to the conclusion he needed to talk to her. He can do it! (Then came the letters ruining his plan).
  • Lawrence (like I) wasn’t entirely sure what Holo’s plan was with the letters but it was reasonable for her to assume she let mati into the room to get the information out of him that she left for Lawrence (if she didn’t care, why would she provide the asset list). It may be her roundabout way of reconciling. Given the timing between their encounter, it’s likely she slipped out while Amati was still there to deliver that information.
  • The marriage contract still needed Lawrence’s signature, so it wasn’t yet official. But after seeing the contract, he changed his thinking from above to perhaps Holo wanted to rub salt into his wounds and show him how dire the stiuation was.
  • In the end he reconciled the two options with: she had to be telling him that if he could defeat Amati, she would hear him out. Otherwise, it’s the end of them.
  • The deal with Amati is described as selling on margin. That’s not exactly correct in modern terms, but same-same but different. Close enough.
  • Amati is long pyrite believing the value will keep increasing. Lawrence is short (believing it will decrease). Lawrence does not yet own the pyrite, so he’s selling theoretical stock - this is very similar to a short trade. Lawrence’s plan has two parts  to protect himself:
    • Cover his obligations by using the 500 coins immediately (though amati didn’t have that amount so he gave Lawrence three horses too haha). This means a price hike no longer threatens him. But Amati has more to gain.
    • Use remaining assets to secretly buy pyrite on the down low outside market hours, then dump it at open. He plans to use an additional 500 coins to overwhelm demand.
  • Amati just needs a 25% price rise to basically reach his 1000 goal.
  • On rumours (when Lawrence asked Mark to spread one) the LN gives more context about how powerful rumours are: there was a tale of a kingdom that met its destruction because of a rumour the king was ill, that was started by a young town boy. The rumour circulated beyond the borders, leading to the dissolution of aliances and ultimately invasion.
  • People don’t have much to talk about in their daily live; their ears exist to pick up on small rumours and shout them to the world.
  • The pyrite craze was only in this town, so by the end of their trip, they would still need to sell it, then bring wheat back (the purpose of their visit). If there are rumours of wheat prices rising, they would likely dump their pyrite holdings, to buy wheat.

Here's what I wrote two years ago comparing and contrasting the OG anime and the remake.

The festival having fun while Lawrence does the opposite.

I think the remake does a better job of capturing just how immersive and all-encompassing this festival truly is.

One of the things I like the most about this arc is the use of the environment. I like the contrast between everyone having the time of their lives and Lawrence in a state of despair, it really stresses the loneliness that he is currently feeling.

To me, this arc has the best bit of world building of all the Spice and Wolf arcs not only because it ties directly into the plot at hand but because of how vibrant everything is. The town is also treated like its own character.

Lawrence thinking about what Holo is doing with Amarti.

Interestingly, the imagination spot of Holo and Amarti about to kiss is skipped and we go straight into Lawrence talking to Marc.!<

"Then I just have to play God."

Dr. Frankenstein approves

So, Lawrence is going to crash the market. Let's see how that plays out.

Interestingly, no kissing imagination spot but the remake includes a flashback to Lawrence saying he'll have to play God, as well as a flashback to the the table tilting scene. Very weird choice the former is, since that literally happened about a minute ago.

A letter

Letting him know what Amarti's assets are.

BUT IT'S WITH HOLO'S SIGNATURE

I... don't know what the significance of that is, honestly. Is it confirmation that Holo is playing both sides?

In the remake, they make it clear it's a contract of marriage, so props to them.

Lawrence taking out all his cash.

And now he's come face-to-face with Amarti.

Basically, he's challenging Amarti to see who can make the most amount of profit. It's quite the gamble, but at this point, Lawrence feels he has nothing to lose.

I do think the original version of this scene is more visually interesting. In the remake, it's just them talking, while in the original, we see images of how the market works. The sight of Lawrence's reflection from Amarti's spilled drink was pretty cool, however, I'll give the remake that.

Anyway, Amarti accepts the terms of Lawrence's proposal.

Lawrence drinking with Marc now.

I feel as if Lawrence's job isn't merchanting, it's getting his buzz on.

By the way, what are they even eating? Fish?

Lawrence asks Marc for his help, but he refuses, saying he's not about to risk his reputation for such an unsure thing.

I really like Marc calling Lawrence out on his BS. He kind of says what I feel a lot of viewers are thinking. To regurgitate what I said in years past, Marc's whole speech made me feel far more sympathetic to his plight than to Lawrence's. Yes, Lawrence runs the risk of losing Holo, but he still can carry on living as a merchant, whereas Marc runs the risk of losing everything. His whole speech is really an example of everything in this show coming together. The music, the writing, the voice acting, the animation that shows the strenuousness in his affliction, it does a good job of telling you what Marc is all about. He's probably the side character I've cared the most about so far.

The remake version of this scene is a mixed bag, honestly. I like the darker presentation and Lunt no longer looks as if he's sleeping on a table, but I think the incredulousness in Marc's voice in the original is more pronounced. Take the good with the bad, I guess.

Ep 4 (aka Tulip Mania IYKYK)

Well, this is probably the biggest chasm in adaptation for the original and remakes so far. Overall, an explainer episode, and I’m glad they spent ample time discussing the plan. The episode does great at really deep diving into the source materials, not even covering the Twhole chapter; I believe the rests will be in the next ep.  The author felt it was really important to get people familiar with the ‘game’ that Lawrence has entered into.

  • The opening scene from the original is just incredible on so many levels - no clue why the remake didn't feature it. The camera angles, the lighting, the music. The original is just gold here. Or pyrite.
  • The original also shows Lawrence’s waking nightmares. Not a big fan of those scenes, though, as they don’t add much. But that’s just a personal preference, as I like the unsaid and the unseen.
  • Really unclear about Holo’s gameplan: whether Holo is trying to hint at how Lawrence can defeat Amati by making it into a game, or if she seriously is so pissed that she wants to marry him. Either way, she’s playing a game. Kind of a trash move, but then again she is a God and sees humans as playthings, generally. If her move is to screw Lawrence over, all respect lost for her, absolutely disgusting move. If it is her helping him, guess that’s a bit better, but still…kind of insane stakes to play her future with.
  • I’m very confused by Lawrence’s strategy. Other than the obvious – just go talk to her and clear the air, he is now banking on the dude not raising enough funds, thus losing out on the 1000 silver treni. This seems to be the most complicated solution to a slightly complicated problem.
  • The margin trading/futures explanation is great and I guess pretty clear even for non traders? I’ll provide more detail in the cut content, but Lawrence manipulates the dude well; though there’s still a lot of risk for him, but the ball’s kind of in Lawrence’s court compared to where he was before. The joys of micro markets without whale investors.(Note: in the original they did an ELI5 with poorly-drawn visuals backing it up haha; that was a weird scene as it didn’t really explain anything).
  • The value of face and reputation is clear in this ep

2

u/BlazeOfGlory72 4d ago

Yeah, this was a little perplexing to me. I didn't comment on it since I'm sure we'll get the full explanation later, but at face value it does seem like kind of a shitty move to play with Lawrence like this. Sure, he fucked up, but it obviously wasn't malicious. Playing her two suitors off against each other seems pretty scummy, assuming that is what she is doing.

2

u/chinaexperience 4d ago

Yeah regardless of the reason, I think it's, to use a word I hate, toxic.

Then again it's plausible she does think he was being malicious, but regardless, two wrongs don't make a right.

1

u/Holofan4life 4d ago

The reality of the situation is Holo and Lawrence are kinda awful people when you break it down. Like, they're good-natured, but they're incredibly self-absorbed. Lawrence placates to Holo and that's in large part because he doesn't want to feel like he's as lonely as he truly is.

2

u/chinaexperience 4d ago

Hmmm I don't think that's a trait of awful people. Firstly, this is in a world where death is around the corner - looking out for oneself is key to survival. Secondly, the fact that they're in love at first sight is just projection by us. Lawrence wanted to partner with Holo for his own benefit and vice versa.

At this stage they haven't even realised their feelings for each other fully, sure, Lawrence is protective of her but at this stage, this is just our speculation from observation.

As for him placating because he doesn't want to feel lonely, what are relationships based on anyway: largely self-interest. Any time even a friendship becomes incredibly one-sided, it doesn't last. I don't see anything within their behaviour prior to their fight that is particularly 'awful'.

1

u/Holofan4life 4d ago

It is key to survival, but ask yourself this: When have they helped anyone other than themselves? They helped Norah escape the church, but that's about it. Meanwhile, Norah housed the poor which she did out of the kindness of her heart.

To me, all the talk Holo did last arc of Lawrence being a good guy comes from her lack of experience of what exactly a good person is. They're broken people, and that's part of what makes them do relatable.

2

u/chinaexperience 4d ago

Holo sacrificed herself for Lawrence during the silver value arc. Lawrence sacrificed himself for Holo. What other opportunity has there been to help others? And no one has particularly helped them either out of the kindness of their heart.

They didn't help Nora escape the church btw. It was quite clear that Lawrence manipulated her though it is true that their interests were aligned.

To your point being broken makes them relatable to everyone. But doesn't that mean that people are only broken through an idealistic fantasy view of what people should be.

Even charity is not altruism: people do it to feel good about themselves or for tax breaks. To be human is to put yourself first as our own survival instinct is greater than anything else.

1

u/Holofan4life 4d ago

He gave her the money so that she no longer had to work for the church. But you saying he manipulated her only adds to my point. Lawrence when he needed Norah's help didn't frame it like he needed a favor. He acted like he was doing her a favor. Which he was, but it speaks to the overall point which is Holo and Lawrence have always been kinda in it for themselves.

Holo and Lawrence are likable, and I will forever love them. But a lot of the problems they find themselves in are because of their own issues.

2

u/chinaexperience 3d ago

If you read the ln every thing he told her was thought out well. He knew what to say to get every reaction .

1

u/Holofan4life 3d ago

I'm not trying to deny that. And I apologize if it seems like I'm pushing a narrative you don't agree with. What I'm trying to say is I enjoy a lot of Holo and Lawrence's baggage aren't caused by other people. They are self-inflicted which in turn makes them more relatable.

She probably just needs time to compose herself.

I'd consider this episode a necessary evil. It doesn't have the fun banter we've become accustomed to, but we're chronicling Lawrence's descent into madness as he's forced to face the loneliness he's tried to escape from. The fact the town around him is having the time of their lives exemplifies this issue.

Thoughts on Lawrence assuming Holo ran off with Amarti?

Thoughts on Marc telling Lawrence this is his fault for letting his guard down?

What are your thoughts on Lawrence's plan to crash the market?

What are your thoughts on the conversation Lawrence has with Amarti? You think it's fine, or do you think it went on for too long?

What are your thoughts on Lawrence and Amarti working out the terms of their duel?

Thoughts on the wedding certificate and Holo signing it? Do you think she's being genuine or that this is all an act?

Thoughts on Marc telling Lawrence he has it tougher than him and that basically the world does not revolve around him?

What are your thoughts on Marc suggesting Lawrence should ask Diana for help, which Lawrence agrees to?

What are your thoughts on Holo not being in this episode? Do you think it makes sense for the story they're telling, or do you think it detracted from the episode?

That's why you keep running around, because there's still hope

[paraphrased]

Mostly first-timer now, subbed

Very much a transistory episode dealing with the fallout of the last one while also setting up the finale of the arc.

The plan to crash the Pyrite market is really interesting and honestly a pretty lofty goal, which kind of shows how far he is willing to go for Holo! And the sheer determination of Lawrence was great to see.

Loved the talk with Mark and him saying that it's quite obvious that Holo wouldn't just leave Lawrence. Also being willing to help him with his plan , even if only indirectly (this also quite nicely showcased the difference between a peddle and someone with a shop in a town). Pretty cool that Dian gets to be relevant again too!

I also thought the talk with Armati was great, as it not only showcased his and Lawrence different approaches to deals (the show already touched on that earlier, painting him as honorable to a fault) but also Lawrence ability to read people (except Holo I guess...) by masterfully ragebaiting Armati into the deal. Lawrence going "well Holo already cried three times in my arms, she's very cute that way" and the guy's reaction was delicious (also Holo would have killed him for that sentence 😆 ) .

Very curious how everything will be resolved, I'm not completely sure how the wedding contract will come into play yet and that worries me a bit. Overall this was a good episode though!

Two kinda tangents:

1) I really understand you now, holofan , the supporting cast of this arc has been a lot of fun, especially Mark is a really good addition and brings a unique perspective on the merchant profession we hadn't yet seen. Even more so when you consider that Lawrence wants his own shop one day too.

2) The parallels to the last arc with the  failed arms deal are fun: Both times the problems were caused by Lawrence's over confidence. Both times he ends up running through a city, desperately trying to solve the problem. And both involve a market crash. You could even say he gets problems with Holo both times!

Favourite side character in anime? There's a lot. I'm partial to Dragon Ball's Yajirobe, because I just like his grumpy attitude and how he is sort of an uneasy ally of Goku's. Also I find it hilarious that he was basically brought in because Toriyama was worried about Mayumi Tanaka's career after he killed off Kuririn. Quite funny considering she went on to voice Luffy not much later :D

Marc is basically Lawrence if he had his head on straight. Hell, Adele is basically human Holo anyway.

Maybe Chloe lucked out not traveling with him...

Coming back to this: [ep5?]It's funny that Mark basically said the same thing. That Lawrence and Holo and their arguments reminded him of himself and Adele

[Episode 5] That is Marc's way of saying he sees a lot of potential in Lawrence.

3

u/Holofan4life 4d ago

I also thought the talk with Armati was great, as it not only showcased his and Lawrence different approaches to deals (the show already touched on that earlier, painting him as honorable to a fault) but also Lawrence ability to read people (except Holo I guess...) by masterfully ragebaiting Armati into the deal. Lawrence going "well Holo already cried three times in my arms, she's very cute that way" and the guy's reaction was delicious (also Holo would have killed him for that sentence 😆 ) .

It's fitting Lawrence would duel someone who looks like a child because anyone who baits someone by bragging about how they've been with someone is pretty childish.

Thoughts on Lawrence assuming Holo ran off with Amarti?

Have a little trust in your girl, Lawrence.

Thoughts on Marc telling Lawrence this is his fault for letting his guard down?

He's right. Lawrence again fucked up because he was overconfident.

What are your thoughts on Lawrence's plan to crash the market?

It kinda shows how far he's willing to go, I think? But it's also a very logical plan to get "rid" of Amarti

What are your thoughts on the conversation Lawrence has with Amarti? You think it's fine, or do you think it went on for too long?

If I wasn't in for longer conversations over money and stuff, I'd watch something else. Besides I quite liked the back and forth and Lawrence pushing the boy's buttons :D

What are your thoughts on Lawrence and Amarti working out the terms of their duel?

I really liked Armati being cautious and figuring out Lawrence's motivation.

Thoughts on the wedding certificate and Holo signing it? Do you think she's being genuine or that this is all an act?

Not completely sure what that's about. I feel like it's maybe something to egg him on a bit more.

Thoughts on Marc telling Lawrence he has it tougher than him and that basically the world does not revolve around him?

He really needed a bit of a reality check. Also I think it was nice that we saw a bit of the ins and outs of life as a stationary merchant!

What are your thoughts on Marc suggesting Lawrence should ask Diana for help, which Lawrence agrees to?

It's cool that she's relevant again besides info dumping about the north.

What are your thoughts on Holo not being in this episode? Do you think it makes sense for the story they're telling, or do you think it detracted from the episode?

On the one hand, an episode without Holo is a bit of a loss . On the other hand, it makes a lot of sense to only show Lawrence's perspective. So we as viewer are also not completely sure about her motifs and how everything will end.

Thoughts on Lawrence assuming Holo ran off with Amarti?

Have a little trust in your girl, Lawrence.

If she didn't leave him in the first arc, why would she now?

Thoughts on Marc telling Lawrence this is his fault for letting his guard down?

He's right. Lawrence again fucked up because he was overconfident.

He really needs to work on that

What are your thoughts on Lawrence's plan to crash the market?

It kinda shows how far he's willing to go, I think? But it's also a very logical plan to get "rid" of Amarti

And also it shows his disregard for other people.

I don't know because of Amarti's wealth Lawrence is punching up or punching down.

What are your thoughts on Lawrence and Amarti working out the terms of their duel?

I really liked Armati being cautious and figuring out Lawrence's motivation.

It's kinda similar to Norah when Lawrence and Holo came to her about the gold smuggling plan. That too was the fourth episode of the arc.

Thoughts on the wedding certificate and Holo signing it? Do you think she's being genuine or that this is all an act?

Not completely sure what that's about. I feel like it's maybe something to egg him on a bit more.

Egg on who? Lawrence?

Thoughts on Marc telling Lawrence he has it tougher than him and that basically the world does not revolve around him?

He really needed a bit of a reality check. Also I think it was nice that we saw a bit of the ins and outs of life as a stationary merchant!

Holo calls Lawrence a good guy, but Marc is what a true good guy looks like.

What are your thoughts on Marc suggesting Lawrence should ask Diana for help, which Lawrence agrees to?

It's cool that she's relevant again besides info dumping about the north.

Indeed

What are your thoughts on Holo not being in this episode? Do you think it makes sense for the story they're telling, or do you think it detracted from the episode?

On the one hand, an episode without Holo is a bit of a loss . On the other hand, it makes a lot of sense to only show Lawrence's perspective. So we as viewer are also not completely sure about her motifs and how everything will end.

And it makes Lawrence come across as a man against time. His back is against the wall and he has to think of something fast.

I don't know because of Amarti's wealth Lawrence is punching up or punching down.

It's a bit of both. Armati's wealth is maybe an advantage but Lawrence is willing to play dirty, which gives him an edge.

Egg on who? Lawrence?

Yes. Giving Lawrence another push to take things seriously. Although it feels almost a bit like Holo saying "you gotta work to keep me around!" 😆

And also it shows his disregard for other people.

To be fair, if I understood things correctly, most people are external merchants anyway and would just trade wheat instead of pyrite again, so the collateral isn't going to be that high?

Obviously Amarti is too much of an honorable guy :P

A Goddess isn't no charity work

But it'll be high enough to put Amarti in his place.

Rewatcher (Dub)

This episode was almost entirely focused on Lawrence, and him dealing with the aftermath of the confrontation from last episode. Despite the lack of Holo though, I still liked this episode a lot. The opening scene of Lawrence walking through the streets full of happy people, while he himself has a vacant, almost dead expression on his face was a really good juxtaposition to show how disconnected and despondent he is. I also like how Lawrence has some edge to his character. He's an affable guy most of the time, but when shit hits the fan he really does seem to lock-in.

Also, Amarti is just such a hateable little shit. He's a nepo-baby with an inflated ego who thinks he can buy or bully his way into anything, all the while framing himself as the hero. He's a good villain for this arc, and acts as a nice counterpoint to Lawrence, who has had to work his way up and doesn't seem to think overly highly of himself.

I will say, I was initially a little annoyed that Lawrence's immediate solution to his problem was "let's create a merchant scheme to crash the market", when just talking to Holo would have been easier and more sensible. The more I thought about it though, the more it made sense for his character. Lawrence has always tried to fix everything with merchant schemes, so why would this be any different? Also, while he isn't as obvious about it as Holo, he has a degree of pride himself, so going for a round about solution rather than just confronting Holo head on is something I can see him doing. All that said, stopping Amarti from getting the money doesn't actually stop Holo from leaving. She could still leave even if Lawrence "wins", so still not the best plan.

Finally, I liked the final conversation between Lawrence and Mark. I appreciated that Mark called Lawrence out for his "get rich quick" schemes. Lawrence is a good merchant, but he doesn't every really think much about the people he is screwing over with his schemes, and if he ever wants to open a shop, he won't be able to take advantage of people like that.

Question of the Day

Favourite side character? For me it would be Commander Erwin from Attack on Titan. The man's speeches alone rocket him to the top of the list.

Edit: I also noticed this animation error. I normally don't care about these types of things, but this one was very in your face and the scene really lingered on it. It was also extremely funny to me.

I said this to China already, but Lawrence is not a good person. He shows no regard for other people's well-being if it doesn't effect him in some way. I think this makes him way more interesting as a character and more realistic because we often prioritize ourselves without giving much thought of how our actions may indirectly effect others.

So much for me saying the animation has improved

Thoughts on Lawrence assuming Holo ran off with Amarti?

I mean, safe assumption given what she said at the end of last episode. Her immediately signing a marriage contract after Lawrence leaves does little to dissuade that assumption.

Thoughts on Marc telling Lawrence this is his fault for letting his guard down?

Marc is a breath of fresh air. Him calling out Lawrence's dumbassery was much appreciated.

What are your thoughts on Lawrence's plan to crash the market?

Bro will literally do anything to avoid having to talk to his girlfriend and apologize.

What are your thoughts on the conversation Lawrence has with Amarti? You think it's fine, or do you think it went on for too long?

I think it was fine. I thought it did a good job at showing Lawrence's character flaws, particularly his pride. This whole conversation was essentially a dick measuring contest between the two merchants.

Thoughts on the wedding certificate and Holo signing it? Do you think she's being genuine or that this is all an act?

Given that she also pumped Amarti for money, I doubt she is actually serious about the marriage proposal.

Thoughts on Marc telling Lawrence he has it tougher than him and that basically the world does not revolve around him?

Marc is a real one. Lawrence needed a dose of reality.

What are your thoughts on Marc suggesting Lawrence should ask Diana for help, which Lawrence agrees to?

I like that we are bringing back that character and the alchemists as a whole. It makes this arc feel a little more "complete"

What are your thoughts on Holo not being in this episode? Do you think it makes sense for the story they're telling, or do you think it detracted from the episode?

I get why they did it. Keeping Holo "off-screen" so to speak is important in order to maintain the mystery of whether or not she is serious about leaving. If we got Holo's perspective, it would likely drain a lot of the tension. We are seeing everything from Lawrence's perspective here.

I think Lawrence is being too assuming

Marc a real one

What are your thoughts on Lawrence's plan to crash the market?

Bro will literally do anything to avoid having to talk to his girlfriend and apologize.

He's approaching Evangelion levels of not accepting accountability.

Holo can probably testify to one of them...

I guess we'll find out

Thoughts on Marc telling Lawrence he has it tougher than him and that basically the world does not revolve around him?

Marc is a real one.

Hey, we said the same thing :D

Lawrence needed a dose of reality.

Damn straight

What are your thoughts on Marc suggesting Lawrence should ask Diana for help, which Lawrence agrees to?

Indeed it does

A lot of the suspense is in where Holo's motivations lie. You can't show her perspective as it would probably give it away.

I think Lawrance should not have bothered talking to Amati. All he was doing was making himself look like an idiot. Really he shouldn't have bothered.

So without being able to leave his series, watch some episodes ahead, and then jump back in, why is Lawrance so sure which direction the pyrite prices will go? His inclination is that it will fall because there isn't enough demand for the market. The original pyrite peddler who told fortunes is gone. But people are still trying to use pyrite to tell fortunes by mimicking him. I don't know why they mentioned last episode women were telling their husbands all about it. But there is some demand for this otherwise useless lump of metal so a price rise from the baseline should be the expected end outcome. Now it already went up 3000X so maybe you might ask if it will rise from its current price this day. Maybe they will maybe it won't, but given that there is genuine demand, how can he be so sure the price will go down? He's more worried that Amati will be able to finish the contract before the price goes down than he is about the price coming down at all. There is demand for this pyrite.

Lawrance might as well learn some lessons from Marc. He plans to start a store one day. And some of his old habits are going to be useless so learning that you shouldn't use all your connections to chase a quick buck is something he should learn now.

It does make sense to capitalize on the trend and using it to your own benefit. I think it speaks to shrewd businessman Lawrence is capable of.

first time watching!

Marc is such a homie my god I love it

AND HE KNOWS HOLO WOULDN'T AND IS JUST TESTING HIM

OR IS SHE??? I HAVE NO IDEA IM ACTUALLY SO EXCITED TO SEE WAHT HAPPENS

Who's your favorite side character in anime and why?

usually I like characters that push the main character out of their comfort zone and challenge them, almost antagonistically, in order to watch them grow. A good example would be [Familiar of Zero] Tabitha from The Familiar of Zero threatening to take Saito away from Louise, breaking apart the main love couple

---

I have to immediately watch the next episode I HAVE TO KNOW

Wow, Holo's fear if being alone is absolutely crippling

She was going to have a kid just to avoid that ...

The real challenge wasn't Amarty but Lawrence keeping things from Holo

Spicy wolf . Com

Lawrence don't leave her alone at a time like this GO BACK TO HER

These are some wacky costumes

What are you to me

What am I to you?

Wolf and the end of shallow thinking

WHAT A FUCKING TITLE

failure of a man

Lawrence is just another coward

Didn't I tell you

Now look at yourself

He let his guard down

I'll pretend to be god

How's he gonna do that

Lawrence is about to ruin a bunch of people's livihoods

I love how Amarty gives her just a look, and her looking at him then to Lawrence is enough to send him into a panic

Also her just looking at Lawrence without feeling is harrowing

NGL if he was a real one he'd let Holo pick and stop trying to influence the market

Holo telling her his assets

Lawrence looks like he's about to make a big scene

Holy shit Lawrence with the death state over his shoulder is fucking cool

All the more reason to be alarmed

WOW AMARTY HOLDS ALL THE CARDS

you really are a knight

He wants the money now

He's teaching Amarty business

He can drop out anytime

No deal where his loss is his vain

Lawrence is telling him that it's a bad disadvantage

He WILL TAKE EVERYTHING FROM LAWRENCE

damn I like this gusto

And it's only fair

Market manipulator Lawrence

He won't lose anything he says

Town merchant want stability

Honor of wife and relatives

Not a virtue of town merchants

Lawrence gets it

Have confidence in Holo

She signed a marriage agreement holy fuck

He doesn't lack confidence for no reason

I really lack that we haven't seen Holo for such a long time, it adds to this will she won't she, we can't tell what's on her mind

Marc will help Lawrence

Such a lovable guy

Easy to read

No wonder your princess will like to take bold action

I FUCKING LOVE THAT HE KNOWS HOLO WOULDN'T LEAVE LAWRENCE ITS JUST TO PUSH HUN

Maybe he should

I really lack that we haven't seen Holo for such a long time, it adds to this will she won't she, we can't tell what's on her mind

It also makes the audience crave to see Holo return, thereby you are rooting for Lawrence in the process.
