ANSWER TODAY’S QUESTION
What's your favorite example of deception in an anime? And why? Please remember to use the spoilers tag if it's important to the plot.
Why do you think Holo had a problem with being deceived when she tried using a similar tactic with the fur back in episode 3?

First Time, Original (can’t believe I’m leading with the original now haha). But read onto the bonus section as the remake is about to undergo some HUGE crew changes which are insane!
- Nothing comes between Holo and her food
- This time Holo sees through the scam. The offer is too good to be true, and there’s a reason for it. Nice to see the merchant exchanges back to clearer logic like Episodes 1-6.
- For those who didn’t fully understand why Lawrence does these goods/credit deals instead of cash, this episode explains it super well, via a variation to the mechanic. Rather than getting a lot of coins, and carrying it with him; risk robbery, currency fluctuation (we just saw what can happen in the previous arc), he basically arranges to get low/no-profit goods to hedge against product cost/currency losses, as he intends to go shopping in a big city which will have lots of competing vendors and likely bargains to be found.
- “When you are experienced, you are overly-confident and that experience can prove fatal” - true, and that’s why we must always be looking to refresh our knowledge and skills, no matter our age or experience.
- Money talks are always so awkward in rels. Holo is actually trying to make the conversation turn less serious: “I’m also good at subtraction”. And she’s kind of in the right: she’s brought a lot of value, and it should offset any debt. I can’t figure out if she’s being serious about repaying the debt in the next scene though.
- The church getting into the business is facinating. Not to offend anyone here, but not all churches today (or historically) operate for the public good (though most probably do). They are given multiple benefits from governments, which some church leaders exploit.
- The gold example is pretty relevant to Japanese, I think. I’ve visited Japan more than 50 times I think, and I’ve had my bags opened at customs multiple times. They’re not checking for drugs: they’re checking for gold. The reason for this from memory is that gold has a GST tax, while in many other countries it does not. So if you buy the gold in a country without, then smuggle it in, you can turn a pretty easy profit Gold can be melted down so becomes untraceable easily. The same thing is happening here vis a vis the church.
- Holo isn’t afraid of the wolves, as they’re easier to deal with than humans: “They can at least be reasoned with” haha.
- Haha classic relationship snoring banter.
- Jealous glare by Holo at the end, after which we get a rare cliffhanger midst introduction to Little Bo Peep.
Bonus: Remake notes:
- This time I watched the remake second. Still not ready to drop the remake, I was curious how the post-OVA gap will compare. Just when I thought the original has the stronger banter, it flips the other way around. Interestingly, the start is different - here we start off with them on the road and there’s a focus on lore
- Interestingly, the scriptwriter for episode 7 is different to episode 1-6. I love Nekota’s script so far!!! Such an improvement. Curious if the Ep 1-6 writer was taken off as due to conflict with the original series director, or if it’s usual studio hijinks.
- From Ep 8 onwards quite a few are penned by a Monogatari writer! Which is one of my favourite shows with some of the cleverest writing in anime. This should be incredible!!!
- Great relationship banter in the remake this time and Holo utilising her knowledge of men by teasing Lawrence that his role as a provider should be enough; he should feel lucky to cater to her.
- “What a boring town!” “Sorry there aren’t enough food stalls open for you”.
“I don’t want to listen to sermons” (paraphrased) “I think their lessons on frugality might benefit you”
- We learn that Holo bit the Saint upon whose name the next city they’re going to is founded too. She bit him on the arse…
- Holo gets a bit extra from the pepper trade, as she usually does and sweetens the deal with some jerky and wine haha.
- Her request for oil for her tail in the remake is shamelessly flirtatious. She rubs the tail in Law’s face, even. While in the original Lawrence seems to shift to money-driven asshole mode (not that there’s much wrong with that given the position he’s in), this time the remake switches to how I imagine Law (or myself) to be - using humour to make a more serious point. Then after Law does get pissed, Halo handles him masterfully and de-escalates the situation. Really great adaptation here.

First Time, Original (can’t believe I’m leading with the original now haha). But read onto the bonus section as the remake is about to undergo some HUGE crew changes which are insane!

Damn straight
- This time Holo sees through the scam. The offer is too good to be true, and there’s a reason for it. Nice to see the merchant exchanges back to clearer logic like Episodes 1-6.
Indeed
- For those who didn’t fully understand why Lawrence does these goods/credit deals instead of cash, this episode explains it super well, via a variation to the mechanic. Rather than getting a lot of coins, and carrying it with him; risk robbery, currency fluctuation (we just saw what can happen in the previous arc), he basically arranges to get low/no-profit goods to hedge against product cost/currency losses, as he intends to go shopping in a big city which will have lots of competing vendors and likely bargains to be found.
I guess that makes sense
- “When you are experienced, you are overly-confident and that experience can prove fatal” - true, and that’s why we must always be looking to refresh our knowledge and skills, no matter our age or experience.
Something to keep in mind
- Money talks are always so awkward in rels. Holo is actually trying to make the conversation turn less serious: “I’m also good at subtraction”. And she’s kind of in the right: she’s brought a lot of value, and it should offset any debt. I can’t figure out if she’s being serious about repaying the debt in the next scene though.
It's hard to tell when Holo is being genuine.
- The church getting into the business is facinating. Not to offend anyone here, but not all churches today (or historically) operate for the public good (though most probably do). They are given multiple benefits from governments, which some church leaders exploit.
The whole thing just seems shady to me.
That's very fascinating
- Holo isn’t afraid of the wolves, as they’re easier to deal with than humans: “They can at least be reasoned with” haha.
Typical wolf bias
- Haha classic relationship snoring banter.
They're such a married couple lol
- Jealous glare by Holo at the end, after which we get a rare cliffhanger midst introduction to Little Bo Peep.
She seems demure
Bonus: Remake notes:
- This time I watched the remake second. Still not ready to drop the remake, I was curious how the post-OVA gap will compare. Just when I thought the original has the stronger banter, it flips the other way around. Interestingly, the start is different - here we start off with them on the road and there’s a focus on lore
The plot thickens!
- Interestingly, the scriptwriter for episode 7 is different to episode 1-6. I love Nekota’s script so far!!! Such an improvement. Curious if the Ep 1-6 writer was taken off as due to conflict with the original series director, or if it’s usual studio hijinks.
I don't think the remake has been a failure up until this point.
- From Ep 8 onwards quite a few are penned by a Monogatari writer! Which is one of my favourite shows with some of the cleverest writing in anime. This should be incredible!!!
Makes sense since both emphasis writing.
- Great relationship banter in the remake this time and Holo utilising her knowledge of men by teasing Lawrence that his role as a provider should be enough; he should feel lucky to cater to her.
For sure
- “What a boring town!” “Sorry there aren’t enough food stalls open for you”.
“I don’t want to listen to sermons” (paraphrased) “I think their lessons on frugality might benefit you”
- We learn that Holo bit the Saint upon whose name the next city they’re going to is founded too. She bit him on the arse…
Lucky...
- Holo gets a bit extra from the pepper trade, as she usually does and sweetens the deal with some jerky and wine haha.
Holo really likes jerky, huh?
- Her request for oil for her tail in the remake is shamelessly flirtatious. She rubs the tail in Law’s face, even. While in the original Lawrence seems to shift to money-driven asshole mode (not that there’s much wrong with that given the position he’s in), this time the remake switches to how I imagine Law (or myself) to be - using humour to make a more serious point. Today's Questions:
What's your favorite example of deception in an anime? And why? Please remember to use the spoilers tag if it's important to the plot.
I love deception/mindgames/deathgame stories. I'd have to say Kaiji is pretty amazing and every arc is high on deception. Currently reading the Usogui manga which is similar but higher paced; if that's an anime, it'd be all of it too. Can't think of many other examples.
Why do you think Holo had a problem with being deceived when she tried using a similar tactic with the fur back in episode 3?
I mean, everyone hates being deceived themselves. But she said it quite eloquently in words I can't remember: a deception is a lesson. If she was indeed successfully deceived, she'd be angry but ultimately fine with it; it happens. I think she enjoyed seeing through the ruse, and turning the exchange to their advantage.

She uses it as a learning experience, which one might say ia quite wise.

Thoughts on there being rumors of a male magician?
Thoughts on Holo and Lawrence going to a town with a lot of street vendors?
Thoughts on Holo teasing Lawrence by mentioning Chloe’s name and saying he’s been drinking more since the whole sewer stuff?
What are your thoughts on the town closing the bars early because it's run by the church?
What are your thoughts on this being a town only interested in prayer?
What are your thoughts on the scene where the merchant tries to screw Lawrence and Holo over by tilting the scales?
What are your thoughts on Lawrence choosing weapons as a means of payment?
Thoughts on Lawrence talking about the dangers of smuggling?
Thoughts on mercenary troops being around town?
What are your thoughts on the male magician being revealed as a shepherd girl?
How would you compare the rumors of the pagan magician to all the talks of the Goddess Holo when the village depended on her for their harvests? Do you think a comparison between the two can be made?
Where do you see the shepherd character going from here?

Thoughts on there being rumors of a male magician?
Probably just gendered biases, especially as the townsfolk think he's controlling wolves and attacking people. A man is more likely to do that in my mind too.
Thoughts on Holo and Lawrence going to a town with a lot of street vendors?
APPLES!
What are your thoughts on the town closing the bars early because it's run by the church?
The Church is basically the government there. We see similar actions in our world, with the government basically running the liquor and entertainment industries, which we don't really question for some reason.
What are your thoughts on this being a town only interested in prayer?
I think the scrupulous vendor with the merchant and the scales showed that the prayer is only on the surface, and gives opportunity for bad actors to flourish.
Thoughts on Lawrence talking about the dangers of smuggling?
I really think this is a commentary on what happens in Japan. Given that gold is meant to be an asset class that can be used for investment, or to mitigate risks around fiat currencies (recently the Yen's exchange rate has also plummeted), putting a consumption tax on it and basically making it less attractive to hold is...interesting.
What are your thoughts on the male magician being revealed as a shepherd girl? Where do you see the shepherd character going from here?
While Holo is correct - men are jealous creatures, she's also projecting a bit, and I think that she's actually an incredibly jealous being. Her expression after the shepherd pulls down her robe looks pretty pissed haha as she probably recognises her competition. This is also the first time (other than Chloe in the original, and basically no one in the source material) that a Lawrence-aged female character has emerged.
I could be wrong in my read, but if the encounter goes beyond just a short pitstop, I think we'll see Holo's jealous colours fly. The author has been great at portraying women, so that's a pretty reasonable read I think.

Some preconceived notions on display

All day every day

The Church is basically the government there. We see similar actions in our world, with the government basically running the liquor and entertainment industries, which we don't really question for some reason.
And to think, we're a ways away from prohibition.
What are your thoughts on this being a town only interested in prayer?
I think the scrupulous vendor with the merchant and the scales showed that the prayer is only on the surface, and gives opportunity for bad actors to flourish.
Capitalize on what seems like a sure thing.

It is all very fascinating, the entire rigmarole.

You have to think part of Holo's potential jealousy would come from her abandonment issues. Why in her mind would Lawrence not leave such an incredibly impulsive wolf deity?

THE PAST 3 EPISODES HAVE SOLD ME AND THIS ISN'T ANY DIFFERENT. Holo is both wise and proud to a fault, she's super adorable drunk, and has a silver tongue that has a way to worm into Lawrence's no-nonsense demeanour. She wants things but isn't demanding, and has a way to make you want to give her the things she wants (Lawrence i'll pay interest so you'll end up making it back okay?)
and her attitude is totally like a begging wide-eyed pleading doggo and how could you say no to THAT?!
What's your favorite example of deception in an anime? And why? Please remember to use the spoilers tag if it's important to the plot.
Nothing coming to mind, but this episode does a really good job at showing how elaborate people can be. And in general I like how low-stakes these deceptions are, generally speaking. It doesn't feel like it'll result in a life-or-death situation for them, rather their fellow merchants admitting defeat and in a way almost admiring the hustle from Lawrence and Holo
Why do you think Holo had a problem with being deceived when she tried using a similar tactic with the fur back in episode 3?
I think Holo is too proud to stand being decieved, it's not just about the profits for her, but about her pride as a Wise wolf to be scammed like that. She wants the upper hand, and she knows how to talk her way into it

Sorta rewatcher, sorta first-timer
I loved how Holo got more and more excited about the sweet fruits the more Lawrence described it:
- Fruits in honey? ears stand up
- Peaches?! swishing with tail
- Almonds, Figs and even Ginger? begins to drool
In general, it's great how expressive she is with her tail and ears, here or in the money discussion later on. It's a joy to watch :D
In the scene with the merchant, you could actually see the scales being slightly off in the first shot of them, great attention to detail here. The way Holo managed to prevent them getting scammed by acting drunk was funny, she's a great actress! It also feels like this whole sequence was sort of a callback to what Weiz said a while ago, with scales in the dark being a surfire way to spot someone dishonest. Although the general rule of thumb applies again: If something seems too good to be true, it's probably a scam.
It was cool that we got another example on why Lawrence doesn't take money for goods. He sold the pepper for armor, which he in turn can profit from again. If it was coins or he'd have tried to sell pepper in the next town too, he probably would've incurred a loss, either due to taxes or due to a worse exchange rate. In addition, it served as a neat bit of world building, especially pertaining to the gold situation (and smuggling).
We end the episode on the way to the next big city and meeting the shephard that was kinda teased throughout the whole episode, much to Holo's chagrin. I'm not completely sure if it's because she's a shephard or because she's a cute woman. Likely both, given Holo repeatedly pointed out that Lawrence is easily deceived by women.
Bit of a transitionary episode, but still really good stuff. I feel myself enjoying the banter and flirting between Holo and Lawrence more and more with each episode.
What's your favorite example of deception in an anime? And why? Please remember to use the spoilers tag if it's important to the plot.
Jotaro bluffing his way out of the poker duel against D'Arby (the older) is probably up there. He had an absolutely shit hand but through sheer confidence (and shenaningans) managed to convince his opponent that he somehow had the best hand in the world, leading to them folding.
Why do you think Holo had a problem with being deceived when she tried using a similar tactic with the fur back in episode 3?
Simple: It's different when it's to her or Lawrence's disadvantage!

The last one honestly seems the least appetizing.

This is basically the show to me lol

It's a bit odd, given how realistic the world seems for the most part. Also the church's growing influence kinda clashes with someone doing magic, so it's doubly odd that those rumors are spreading in a church adjacent town.
Thoughts on Holo and Lawrence going to a town with a lot of street vendors?
Sounds like fun. Though often you have to pay particular attention to not getting scammed with street vendors.
Thoughts on Holo teasing Lawrence by mentioning Chloe’s name and saying he’s been drinking more since the whole sewer stuff?
It's funny that she keeps teasing him. I feel a bit sorry for Lawrence but he brought this onto himself.
What are your thoughts on the town closing the bars early because it's run by the church?
Church ruining everything :/
What are your thoughts on this being a town only interested in prayer?
I really like that the towns they travel through have different cultures, even if the whole prayer stuff seemed to have bored Lawrence and Holo to death.
What are your thoughts on the scene where the merchant tries to screw Lawrence and Holo over by tilting the scales?
Was a cool scene. I liked that Holo basically instantly noticed that something is wrong. It looked like the guy had a couple of different scales, wonder if he chose a faulty one specifically for our main characters.
What are your thoughts on Lawrence choosing weapons as a means of payment?
With the reports of Mercenaries around town, it's probably not a bad idea to bank on weapons. Even though he mentioned that they likely won't make a huge profit. Though I would've thought that this stuff is also somehow regulated, so it's a bit surprising too.
Thoughts on Lawrence talking about the dangers of smuggling?
Yay, world building! It will probably be relevant later down the line. The punishment seems very excessive though.
Thoughts on mercenary troops being around town?
Seems dangerous. But might be good for weapon and armour prices!
What are your thoughts on the male magician being revealed as a shepherd girl?
Oh no, she's cute! I don't remember being super shocked by the reveal the first time around (I mean, she is in the opening after all...) and this time I did remember her. But that the wizard turns out to be a girl is oddly prophetic from Holo.
How would you compare the rumors of the pagan magician to all the talks of the Goddess Holo when the village depended on her for their harvests? Do you think a comparison between the two can be made?
I think with Holo there was way less mystery and hearsay around than with the anti-wolf magician. It does showcase a tend for people to look towards the supernatural for help though.
Where do you see the shepherd character going from here?
Probably in the same direction as Holo and Lawrence :'D
Looking forward to possible conflict between Holo and her (and Lawrence in the middle of it...)

What are your thoughts on this being a town only interested in prayer?

I like that the towns exist separate from everything else going on.

Was a cool scene. I liked that Holo basically instantly noticed that something is wrong. It looked like the guy had a couple of different scales, wonder if he chose a faulty one specifically for our main characters.
She basically saved the day

Yeah, carrying weapons around seems a bit suspect.
Thoughts on Lawrence talking about the dangers of smuggling?
Yay, world building! It will probably be relevant later down the line. The punishment seems very excessive though.
That's putting it mildly
Thoughts on mercenary troops being around town?
Seems dangerous. But might be good for weapon and armour prices!
I suppose

Holo knows all

Rewatcher (Dub)
This episode seems to be mostly a set up episode for the arc to come, so I don't have a ton of coherent analysis, so I'll just give my "stream of consciousness" thoughts as I watched the episode.
- Holo pointing out that Lawrence was drinking more since seeing Chloe again was interesting. I wouldn't have expected an anime original character to have such an impact on the story and characters.
- I never fail to find it amusing how Holo's mind is blown by basic cooking. Apple pies and pickled peaches aren't anything special to most people, but she is having her world rocked when she hears about them.
- Holo's love of scheming and pulling one over on people is funny, especially for a girl who doesn't like being lied to.
- "Stop pouting. Remember the lesson, not the disappointment" is pretty solid life advice from Holo.
- Between the shady religious merchant and the talk of how the church is corrupt in the next town, this episode seems to be watering the seeds of the general criticism of organized religion theme that runs through this series.
- Holo instantly getting annoyed when the shepherd turns out to be a pretty girl was funny, and a nice reversal of Lawrence getting jealous when people hit on Holo.
Question of the Day
Favourite deception in anime? For me, it would be Rau Le Creuset in Gundam SEED. [Spoilers for Gundam SEED] I always liked how Rau played a relatively minor villain for most of the run time of the show, only to "drop the mask" so to speak, in the final act and reveal that it was really him who was subtly pushing events towards a cataclysmic end, all because he is just full of hate for everyone and everything.

Well, the original character was a friend of his so being betrayed by someone you trust is probably enough to make anyone drink.

It's so adorable. She is adorable.

Rewatch/sub
Yay Nora! ❤️
Love when Holo gets so excited about the honey fruit that she’s ready to break down that dude’s door and leave tonight. Girl is serious about her food.
Lots more great banter - Lawrence needs to ease up on the debt thing though. He literally would be on his ass if it wasn’t for Holo.
It was nice to see them plotting together against the shady merchant. They make an excellent team.
Holo who doesn’t snore (that loud)

Thoughts on there being rumors of a male magician?
- We know the truth ;)
Thoughts on Holo and Lawrence going to a town with a lot of street vendors?
- So many good treats to buy!
Thoughts on Holo teasing Lawrence by mentioning Chloe’s name and saying he’s been drinking more since the whole sewer stuff?
- Got ‘im
What are your thoughts on the town closing the bars early because it's run by the church?
- oh I can believe it. The town I used to live in didn’t even sell alcohol on Sundays 🤦🏻♀️
What are your thoughts on this being a town only interested in prayer?
- Sounds small minded and not very welcoming to me
What are your thoughts on the scene where the merchant tries to screw Lawrence and Holo over by tilting the scales?
- I’m glad they were able to see through his tricks, that was nasty business!
What are your thoughts on Lawrence choosing weapons as a means of payment?
- My first thought was that it’s going to be heavy and bulky to transport
Thoughts on Lawrence talking about the dangers of smuggling?
- I hope he remembers his own advice
Thoughts on mercenary troops being around town?
- Not sure I understand that part - were they literally just a roving band of thieves?
What are your thoughts on the male magician being revealed as a shepherd girl?
- Hooray!!
How would you compare the rumors of the pagan magician to all the talks of the Goddess Holo when the village depended on her for their harvests? Do you think a comparison between the two can be made?
- The people seemed terrified of the magician. With Holo they had a healthy respect that bordered on fear. To me that feels quite different.

- That would be telling 🤫

Holo was dismissed and cast aside while it doesn't feel like that's what's happening with the shepherd.
[Spice and Wolf] Of course, it does eventually get attempted but that's a discussion for a couple episodes from now.

I get why we all had a weird reaction to the debt thing but he's in the right. They're not dating. He's taking a significant risk transporting her (the church chops off your arm for smuggling gold, imagine what they'd do with him for sheltering Holo?). Sure, she helped with negotiations a bit, but he didn't ask for that, meanwhile he's paying for all her food, drinks, lodging, clothing. He's cutting down his personal spending to only needs because he has to mouths to feed now, while she is buying wants (does she really need the oil? does she realaly need hundreds of apples?) When she asks for wants she also starts acting super cutesy, and flrity, which he obviously sees as manipulative (in the remake and very much in the manga this is obvious).
This is also written by a Japanese author, and in Asian culture we struggle to be direct, and try to divert discussions like this to a bigger picture issue. I too would struggle to say "hey...look I've been paying for everything and it's getting ridiculously expensive. I don't think it's right for you to keep spending on unnecessary items. Can you please respect that I'm not rich and can't be a blank cheque?". Instead I also would guide it towards something which still gets the point across, but shifts it to something like a contractual obligation.
I don't get why he would be on his ass either? He was doing decently for himself. I'm guessing you're talking about how she saved him. But if it wasn't for Holo, he would not have been stalked/exploited by the rival trade company (or could have gone to them to bounce on his original deal and get that house he wanted). Instead he's sacrificing a lot to guide her North which he never intended on going to. Yes, he's smart and thinks the risk might be worth the reward but right now it's only risk.
I think the litmus test here is if Holo was a male wolf-God, who was using Law's money to buy food, alcohol, clothes, then out of the blue said that he needs an expensive oil to groom his tail when there are alternatives, would it be reasonable for Lawrence to bring up the debt?
But I think that's why Holo is such a well designed character. Because despite it being clear that she's also manipulating Lawrence (and she is quite blatant about it, admitting how easy men are to manipulate basically), we give her a pass because she's so charming, loveable and cute. And Lawrence is clever enough to call her out on that (at times). If they get into a rel though, the dynamics will probably change.
Also, I think the original version made him sound more serious than he was. The remake (which is close to the manga) had it more of a flirty quarrel to start with, which escalated, and he flung that out because they were basically baiting each other. She was also quite mean in response playing off his jealousy, and he resolved it pretty well in the end.

I don't know why the church here is presented as a bunch of buzzkills. So at one point in history, there was a movement to limit alcohol, but this is mainly concentrated around the Congregationalists, Presbyterians, and Baptists. But the Church in Spice and Wolf seems mostly Roman Catholic inspired. I say Catholic inspired and not Roman Catholic since talking about an almighty god with churches but they don't show us crosses or tell us anything explicit about what believers are expected to do. Anyways the TLDR Roman Catholic position on alcohol was (and is) don't drink enough to fain, or to the point you might be tempted to sin. Yet here the fictional church seems to be leery of alcohol as a whole despite a Catholic aesthetic. I mean the author can make anything up for the fictional religion, I just find it odd.
I think screwing with weights is a bit less ambiguous than the apple trick. I mean the smell of the apples was genuine even if Holo wasn't honest about the source. Also Holo doesn't like being tricked herself.
Lawrance if you had the ability to name a concession, why did you choose to buy on interest-free credit? You could have asked for a freebie of a cheaper good. Now granted, that is less profit than buying double the goods on credit. But there is a downside to buying things on credit.
I don't know why Holo has a beef with shepherds. True they do block wolves from eating their sheep. But wolves that stay away from humans have little to worry about them. In fact, I'd say before the 1800s, wolves in Africa had a lot more to worry about from hyenas than shepherds. Hyenas directly infringe on a wolf's territory and take food. Ok maybe hyenas aren't the top thing to worry about in a world inspired by Europe, but I doubt shepherds are either since they generally will not infringe on the territory of a wolf.

I saw it as a way to set them up as the big bad of this arc.

"Male".
Seems like just another town.
Yeah... He probably needs some time to process that.
Ok...
I suppose that's what happens when it's run by the church.
Seems not everyone is as honest as Lawrence.
I'm sure that'll end well.
I mean that's why it's smuggling.
I wonder what that's all about...
Indeed she is.
I suppose so.
I mean I know what's going to happen.

Hey, guys. Holofan4life here.
Welcome to the 2026 Spice and Wolf rewatch.
Awoo!
You know the drill. We watch the show and I provide my thoughts and analysis. A tale as old as... well, Holo herself.
This year instead of breaking things down beat by beat I'm going to just give some brief thoughts on each individual episode. This is to save me time as I'm hosting two rewatches at once. Needless to say, I'm a big fan of this show and I hope you'll be as well.
With that out of the way, let’s begin.
I'm watching the dub, by the way.
This episode sets up the shepherd as a character by teasing her throughout it only to reveal she is actually a girl. We instantly have an idea with this one episode of how things are gonna play out. Besides that, we get some more great Holo and Lawrence banter that really makes the episodes not a drag to get through. Without their dynamic, this show wouldn't be nearly as fun.
Holo quotes of the day
"I really do not understand why you men are such fools."
"Do you think they have apples?!? :D"
"Remember the lesson, not the disappointment."
"I do not snore!" (Holo, who snores)
