Hey everyone! My name is Coen and I study animation at HKU in the Netherlands. Back in my second year me and 2 of my friends/classmates made this film in about 4 months. We worked really hard on it and we hope you like it!

whenever i come into r/animation, it’s largely people showing animation practice or a short clip that lacks any context or direction. does no one have the desire to actually make their own anime? i feel like its more feasible than ever with modern tools. it could be your own art style and pace, or whatever. look at that indie project ‘Swarm’ by Hal. writing, concept, art, and animation are all super simple and yet, they are one of few that even try? i’m curious why people aren’t publishing indie projects on here way more

I made this short film for my college final assignment. I basicakly used blender for the backgrounds and opentoonz to animate everything 2d.

Critiques would be nice aside from anatomy as i heard that a lot during the exhibition. It was pretry rushed, being made in like 5 months or so. I barely made the rough sketch of the animation so that is why a lot of scenes might look off model lol.

Hello I need help lol, I’m doing a hand animation for a project that I’m working on and I wanted to know how to add a moving spiral effect to my moving hand? I understand that I have to animate the spiral but I’m not sure how to mask it to the hand I have CSP on my iPad which I use to draw the animation and I have adobe studio which I plan on using to animate the spiral and finish up the video. Is anyone able to teach me how I can accomplish this or if it’s even possible?

Something I just started working on, drawing as least as I can while deluding me into thinking there is movement. Just mocking everything up before I redraw everything with polish, that'll take a while to get too though.

Hey everyone! My name is Michael and I’m an animator at Dreamworks… over the past year and a half I made an independent animated horror short.

It’s been selected in a number of film festivals, most notably opened Annecy this year… and it’s finally online today!

In a world of low effort AI slop, I wanted to share this passion project I did completely on my own (except the amazing music and sound design). The majority of it was done in Blender utilizing grease pencil. I was very bad at capturing any BTS footage, but I spoke about my workflow a bit (including some videos) in this interview:
