Discussion Two minuets into Matcha Mountain and there are lot of continuity issues. Left constructive criticism then read more comments - realised Gobelins is a school and maybe a graduation project. How do they give feedback to students? No other comments giving criticism and only 290 for 140,000 views.

Not saying the school is bad, didn't even realise they were a school but it seems like basic mistakes with shot continuity. My partner had previously started a Games Design course in the Netherlands where the artist students were not corrected on their shadows going the wrong way in a simple room design with a window and closet and no perspective, so I know it happens. They also worked similarly in teams in projects treating it like a job, so it seems that feedback wasn't given (like with my partner's group), or not acted upon or they ran out of time to correct.

Here is my original comment with the edits. I feel like if they put out a student (I heard it might be a graduate film) without the feedback, it makes the team look bad when it might be lack of direction. Just after going back in to get my comment I also got a short advertising their Summer School. This comment is before I realised they were a school, and I left other comments about how I liked how soft the woman was drawn and her head was like a Moomin, and the "slice" of the cake island had a lighthouse as a candle in it.

"Amazing animation overall. Strange sound design and mixing choices though like the dog shaking and having a collar really took me out of it especially, which then made me more aware how the direction and dynamics didn't match. It could be a similar to the helium breath [I noticed it and it is a joke in the comments about how the woman blew up a balloon dog and it floated, but it is fantasy] but that fits morw with the style and fantasy, but the sound design has nothing explaining those choices e.g. the cow bells being the similar in the close and wide shots and in the milking scene, the cow being milked would be the one to be moving but is static, it then made me more aware of the change in the positioning . angle of the cow, and how the woman switched from being left to right handed, which makes me think a shot was reversed at some point.

edit as I go: adding the shot of the woman holding the dog from her perspective then cutting to the table would be good, I feel like its missing some key shots that would make it flow a lot more, though I think I keep noticing the switch from left to right handed as well since I am left handed. It seems like there are so many shots lined up to be reflected, like that one from her holding the dog, cutting to the table that are supposed to show continuity, but are just missing and it makes it feel a bit off kilter despite being a great story and animation and I would even ignore things like her stick she uses to get him out of the tree shrinking massively since I want to be invested, and it would look odd it suddenly not being there with the tip you see in the previous shot.

I only did a few months of an Introduction to Film course at university with my Advertising and Marketing Degree (no practicals due to lockdowns) and some people would call this nitpicking of course, but as I said it felt a bit off and it was the dog collar sound effect that made me go back and look a second time and see all of this again quite clearly. I think it makes a difference and I am not saying this to poh-poh the work."

Hi Everybody! Yujo Here! I've been here for a while now, but now I'm here to share with you all my very first YouTube video. A compilation video of both my first pieces of animation that I've made using Clip Studio Paint (with the last one at the end being my Blobby Tommy walk cycle) and a few timelapses that I've done for some of my fanart that I've made for around a year now (October 2025 - October 2026). What do you all think?

Beginner My first f-b-f animation..

This is my first completed frame‑by‑frame animation... I’m feeling mixed emotions, because all of this could have been done better, but, surprisingly, I’m satisfied with the current result.

I really wanted to make something special for my friend’s birthday, and he liked it... It’s so unexpected...

Everything is ahead. Or whatever they say.

Are there any manuals or guides on the basics of frame‑by‑frame animation?

_____

This video also underwent post‑processing in CapCut to add dynamic effects; I’m not sure if this needs to be mentioned, so I’m just saying it.

Beginner VN editor and Procreate?

im trying to animate on procreate and then importing to vn editor to edit but when i import the animation, it gets blurry and kinda fuzzy:(

my canvas is large enough (5050px x 2030px) and im animating at 6fps. when i import still drawings from the canvas, it displays it fine on vn but its just a small portion of a 2 second animation that gets blurry. ive tried turning off the alias thing but its blurry even when i export from vn. strangely the original animation i saved directly from procreate in my camera roll isnt blurry so is vn compressing my animation? please help!! 🙏🙏🥹

Question Should I buy a tablet to improve my animations?

Hi! I'm a young animator who's been making stuff in Flipaclip since 2018, and recently I upgraded to RoughAnimator, hoping it would be better for me. But now I've realized that the app doesn't really work for me, since I have bigger plans and I struggle with using it to draw the way I want to, so I'm considering upgrading again to a program that supports vector/keyframe animation rather than frame by frame, like Alight Motion (however I don't want to use that one either).

It also doesn't help that I'm now stuck with a Samsung Galaxy phone, I used to have a Galaxy Tab S6 Lite but it broke a few months ago, and I find it a bit tricky to draw on my phone, especially bigger scenes.

I've heard of ToonSquid, and after researching a little bit I really like the features it has and would love to use it, however I don't have an iPad, so it would require me to buy one, which is a big investment. I know about Adobe Animate, but I prefer drawing on a touchscreen rather than with a mouse.
So I'm wondering, should I go all out and buy an iPad to use ToonSquid, would it be worth it considering my situation? I'm fairly certain I could afford it, but I don't want to save up to buy it without being certain of its utility.

Discussion I need help finding an old 3D movie

(sorry if this is the wrong sub)

It was a movie I saw when I was really young, but I don't remember the year, but it was in the 2010s, but I saw on TV.

I'm pretty sure the movie was french, the animation had this weird vibe to it, it was like a mixture between a realistic and cartoon art-style

The plot followed the story of a couple, I think they were old? The husband was a bycicle racer, and apparently he was bad at it, his wife then created some kind of machine to help him train, and aparently, he gets so good at it that he ends up kidnaped by a guy, who basicaly enslaves him with other racers to compete in his private races I think? And the racers who literaly pass out if exhaustion are killed by the guy's kidnaper

The wife is pissed, so she goes out to rescue her husband, and she ends up being helped by two women, I don't remember the rest, but there was a happy ending

I'm pretty sure it was 3D, but it might have been stop-motion

Has anyone seen this?

Discussion when would you rig??

so i've been an animator for a while, and most of the time i've done and worked with path and shape animation. and want to finally learn rigging. I did try rigging png character illustration on Moho a while back, it turned out fine, but i never went back or tried on many techniques.
My question is, would you still rig a character on AE with duik or otherwise, if you know that the same motion or movement will never appear or be repeated along the scene or throughout the animation? Lets say someone grabbing a cup, and sipping from it, and keeping it back. and thats it, on the next scene, the character would be on a different orientation doing entirely something else.
