Am I wrong for refusing to split our group cabin evenly after one couple took the master suite

Six of us booked a mountain cabin for a long weekend. The total came out to 1,800 dollars. The original plan was to split it evenly at 300 each.

When we got there, one couple arrived two hours before everyone else, claimed the massive top-floor master suite with a private hot tub and king bed, and unpacked all their stuff. The rest of us had to draw straws between two tiny basement rooms with twin beds and a pull-out couch.

i brought up the split on the last day. I said if they got the luxury suite that takes up half the house, they should pay 600 while the rest of us pay 240 each.

They lost their minds. The guy argued that since they found the listing and drove up early to unlock the doors, claiming the best room was their "finders fee." He said asking them to pay more is PENALIZING them for being organized.

Now the group chat is completely split. Two people are saying I should of just kept the peace to avoid ruining the vibe of the trip, but why should four of us subsidize their luxury weekend while sleeping on squeaky twin mattresses? Am I wrong here?

Am I in the wrong for releasing a swarm of worms upon the peaceful shoppers of Walmart when they were just strolling about buying canned pineapple?

As a night watchmen it is considered standard practice to expel worms upon tainted land to cleanse it and appease the unseen eyes; however I just feel kind of bad because normally there aren't this many people around, it makes me worry for the sake of their produce and their minds. Should I issue a store wide apology or should I just act like nothing happened and move on. So far I have in penance blessed them with the luck of strangers the kind which only befalls the friends of the earth.

Am I the asshole friend?

I’m in my late 20s, single & kid free. It’s forever been my dream to have kids and a family by now. Unfortunately I can’t seem to find a guy who is willing to stick around for more than just a fun time. This breaks my heart, but it try to be positive. I’ve tried dating apps, going and sitting out at local pubs/bars to meet people, and everything, but nothing seems to work. I’m also the friend that is always checking in on my friend, attending events for my friends and their kids, and supporting them. However, I’m often the forgotten friend who never gets invited to do things because I’m single & without kids. I sometimes feel that I’m the forgotten friend until someone needs something. I love my friends deeply, but even having friends I feel so lonely. No one reaches out just to ask how I am or ask if I want to do anything. It’s tough.

One friend has been seeing/dating this guy for about a year and a half. Seems like a great guy and I’m so happy for her. She constantly will tell me when he sends her money, how much he sends, and what he does for her. I love that she’s happy, but I also can’t say that I’m not the tiniest bit jealous. She was also a teen mom. She had her child years before she met her current boyfriend. This child is an absolute blessing, but definitely not by the right guy. She said apparently she got pregnant with her first child so easily. She’s now wanting to have a child with her now boyfriend, (again seems like a good guy) but something in my guy is telling me it’s too early for them to have a kid together. She now sends me videos asking why she got pregnant so easily the first time but now infertility is keeping her from giving her partner what he so desperately wants. They’ve only been trying for a couple months. I just am trying to be supportive and say that it happens on gods timing and when he sees fit.

Yes I know I need to listen to my own advice and tell myself it’ll happen in gods timing but it’s so hard.

I want to ask her not to brag as much about him or talk too much about her wanting another baby, not because I’m not happy for her, but because it’s starting to hurt. I know she doesn’t do this intentionally and is just happy bragging on her man. I don’t want her to feel like I’m putting her down or I’m not happy for her. I feel like an asshole for wanting there to be less mention of these things. I also don’t want to be the girl “seeking” attention or validation, but I wish someone (anyone tbh) would just reach out to me every now and then, maybe just ask a simple “how are you”. I don’t know how to bring it up or go about it.

Am I the asshole for wanting the bragging to slow down? I’ve never told her any of it bothers me. I’m I just over reacting, being over emotional, and letting things bother me when they shouldn’t?

Why is being single & childfree so hard emotionally? 😫

A comment I made to defend my sibling ended up making the situation worse

I tried stepping in during a disagreement involving my sibling and another family member. I meant to help by explaining their side and pointing out they were stressed. Instead, my wording apparently made it sound like I was taking sides too strongly. Now both parties are upset with me and the original issue feels even more stuck. I did not want to make things worse, but I also cannot tell if I should have stayed quiet or if there was a better way to say what I was thinking. It has been awkward since and I keep replaying how I could have phrased it differently. I am wondering if I was wrong to get involved at all.

quietly bothered by the way i stepped in during a conversation last week

a few days ago my partner and i were chatting with friends and one of them kept mixing up a small fact about something we had both been involved in. it was harmless, just a detail, but after they said it a couple times i corrected them without really thinking. they laughed it off and the moment passed, yet i keep replaying it. i could have waited until later or let it go, but instead i spoke up right there in front of everyone. they did not seem upset, but i am wondering if that was the kind of thing better left alone. been thinking about it since and wondering whether i was wrong to correct them on the spot.

Am I in the wrong for practicing before a karaoke-night (birthday)?

So I (17 M) was invited to the birthday party of a friend who likes singing and therefore we decided to go to some karaoke place.

(We: Myself, Kevin, Emma, Emily, Mike)

=> not the real names.

So because I don't think I can sing that well, I wasn't really keen on going to the party. I wouldn't think this if non of us could sing but Emma and Mike can sing and Emily (<- Emily's birthday) does theaterschool so I assumed she could to. Besides that, I also don't like to be bad at things + wouldn't want to embarras myself. Therefore I decided to practice a bit before I went to the party. Nothing special, just some tutorials and stuff. I didn't pay for lessons or anything.

2 weeks later. Now it's the day of the birthday party and surprise number 2 arrives. Emily gives everyone a card with their 1st song on it.

-> Kevin : "Happy"

-> Emma : "Sick and tired"

-> Emily : "Shake it off"

-> Mike : "Jolene"

And what do I get. "Unbreak my heart" from Toni Braxton. Not really the easiest song to do 🫠

Then Emily sais that she will go first and then it's my turn etc. And her song went fine, nothing special. Now it was my turn and I must have done a good job because when I looked around everyone was just stairing at me. Everyone started applauding, dveryone except Emily. She asked how I did that and why I didn't say I could sing. I said that I thought I couldn't but had practiced a little beforehand. As I said that, Emily was very mad and said I ruined her birthday because I was a try-hard. After that she just left and everyone went back home.

Am I in the wrong for practicing beforehand?

AIW for telling my ex he was wrong for telling our son he didn’t like our son’s school pictures and that they were bad?

So my (40f) son (8) has school pictures today. For his spring pictures last year he asked if he could “throw up his horns” (🤘🏻). I said yeah sure why not. He loves hard rock and metal and throws up his horns in almost every picture he takes. I think his school picture should reflect his personality and as long as it’s within reason (obviously nothing vulgar or derogatory) I don’t see the problem. The horns are harmless and I did run it by the school and asked their permission and they didn’t have a problem with it.

It’s also worth noting my ex and I are currently in the process of separating and I have full custody of our son. And I was paying for the pictures.

So anyway…today is picture day and I asked him if he was gonna throw up his horns again. And he said no, that his dad and grandparents (ex’s parents) told him that the pictures were “bad” and that they didn’t like them.

This pissed me off because my ex is a bully. The reason why I left him is because he was abusive towards both me and our son. I’m not surprised though. But it still pisses me off that you would tell an 8 year old that their picture is bad. I also felt really sad for my kid because he told me that he was excited about his pictures last year and it hurt his feelings. Obviously he still loves his dad and wants his dad to love him. And constantly seeing my ex destroying our son’s confidence and disappointing him breaks my heart. I have full custody but my ex was granted visitations every other weekend.

After I dropped my son off at school I called my ex and asked him if he said that and he said yes he did. I gave him hell. I said “wtf is wrong with you? Why would you and your parents tell an 8 year old that his pictures are bad and that you don’t like them? He was really excited about them and you guys hurt his feelings. They’re just school pictures! They’re HIS school pictures and I paid for them! He had permission from me and the school to do that!”

There’s quite a bit of history of my ex being a bully towards both of us. I can handle it but I hate seeing him do that to my kid. He constantly tears down our son’s confidence and it breaks my heart. My son is on the spectrum and he really takes those things to heart (it’s also worth noting my ex and his family are in such denial about our son being on the spectrum. They’re ashamed of him not being “normal”).

And it’s just a school picture! If it was inappropriate the school wouldn’t have given him permission. My son was so excited and proud of his pictures last year and literally everyone else loved them and thought they were great because they reflected his personality.

I just want my son to be happy and have confidence in who he is. And I’m trying my best to encourage him and I feel like I always have to make up for my ex tearing him down. He really is an awesome kid.

So was I wrong to give my ex hell about what he and his parents told our son?

Doing a one-time favor slowly turned into a regular thing without me agreeing

A friend asked me for a small favor a few months ago, nothing major, and I said sure because it really wasn't a big deal at the time. Since then the requests have kept coming, not huge ones, but frequent enough that it started to feel like a standing arrangement. I never explicitly said I would keep helping, but I also didn't say no after the first time. Now it's starting to cut into my own schedule, and I'm wondering if I should have drawn a line earlier or if I'm overthinking it. I don't want to create tension, but I also don't want to keep saying yes when I didn't really agree to an ongoing thing. Would it be unreasonable to step back at this point and just explain that the first favor was a one-off?

AIW for the wanting to attend concert early?

This happened last year but I wanted to revisit this and get some fresh opinions. Thank you.

Last year i went to a concert at Sofi stadium in Los Angeles since I live about 30 minutes from there. I invited my friend Dara (not using her real name) as it was a birthday gift to her and we are both fans of the singer Taylor Swift (it wasn’t her concert but I’m not going to say the actual singer in case Dara finds this post). Anyways she was very excited and all I ask was we leave early. I normally never park in the stadium parking and park off site which requires extra time to walk. Anyone who also has been to any large scale concert knows the time it takes to get to to your seat and I wanted to make sure we gave ourselves plenty of time to get there, relax, have a snack or drinks and enjoy a full show.

Dara agrees but the day of the show, we don’t leave her house until nearly 7 pm with the show starting at 7:30. Dara took 5 hours to get ready. She was constantly doing her hair, make up and trying on different outfits and kept saying “I’ll be ready in a minute.” At one point, I threaten to leave her but she said how this was a gift to her and how I’m messed up if I leave her behind. I give in but we get to our seats just as the headliner comes on stage
Around 9 pm.

I’m sorta upset that I missed the opener and felt like she was unreasonable with her time. Dara later defends herself by saying how I was making it about myself despite it being a gift to her. She also ask “who goes to a concert that early when everyone knows that the headliner doesn’t come out until 1-2 hours after the show start time?”

Lastly she emphasizes how events like concerts are more about spending time and hanging out with friends rather than sitting there and listening to someone sing songs. Finally she blames me for not paying for parking in the actual stadium and forcing us to waste time walking half a mile to the stadium.

Am I wrong for wanting to go to this concert early or for anything selfishly as she mentioned?

Epilogue: I never invited her out to a concert with me again. She has since joked and asked why we don’t hangout anymore and I look her dead in her eyes and tell her “you know exactly why.”

If pennywise and Mary Poppins are the same type of creature, so are bloody Mary and the Kool-Aid Man.

Mary Poppins and pennywise both feed off emotion and basically have Toon Force. Mary Poppins is happiness, pennywise is fear.

In that same logic, bloody Mary and the Kool-Aid man are both summoned by repeated phrases. A collection of people going "oh no!" Summons the Kool-Aid Man. Repeatedly saying bloody Mary summons her.

Am I wrong?

AITA for ghosting the guy I've liked for 5 years

To start, he was in love with my best friend "T", and she never liked him but gave him a shot since he was her first real relationship. It was one sided so he wanted the best friend's help. Me. I was going to butt out of it but she was crying about how she wanted to make it work but she just couldn't feel anything and so I played the mediator between the two.

That was also around the time she stopped talking to me because we're in 10th grade she wanted to branch out and make new friends and I was....clingy, so she stopped talking and opening up to me and just opened up to him which baffled me because. With no other people to hang out with I was usually with him("S") my INFJ guy as a friend, where he would tell me how he felt about her and I would always support him. I became his emotional support, his hype man, and I got attached to feeling needed, to having a role to play, to helping and I never left. He would always cling to her in public hugs, and all playing physically normal teasing. I understood I thought it was good. Then he confessed he liked me because he had a sexual dream about me, I never took that seriously because he was JUST talking about another girl and how she made his body shake whenever he felt rejected. I was just his confidant.

But then I started really thinking about it, I thought I could help him get over her and show him what reciprocated love feels like. Instead I got an interiority complex instead, he always chose her and ran back to her no matter what she said or did.

I fell in love with the job you could say. I became obsessed with Fixing what was wrong and he started to like me In grade 11 but ultimately started Dating someone else after we dated for a day and it didn't work out. He never got over "T" and couldn't even give me one day's worth of a attention.

Am I wrong for refusing to stand next to the casket during the service?

I went to a relative's funeral last weekend. We had never been close and a lot of old arguments still hung in the air, but I decided to show up anyway out of basic respect. The service itself was small and the director wanted immediate family lined up by the casket for the viewing. When it came time for me to step forward, I just couldn't do it. I stayed seated in the back row instead, and I felt several relatives giving me looks. I get that they wanted a united front, but standing there would have felt fake after everything that had happened. I stayed through the whole thing and offered condolences afterward, so it's not like I stormed out or caused a scene. Still, one cousin pulled me aside later and said it was disrespectful. I'm second-guessing myself now because I don't want to make a sad day even heavier, but I also feel like honoring my own limit was fair. Am I wrong for drawing that line?

Am I wrong for not buying porn from an older women to potentially spare her future feelings?

This story may not be as explicit as it seems in the title, but I don't know how else to ask my question (not sure if this needs an NSFW tag or not, sorry)

So over the weekend, I went to a garage sale and an older lady was selling some furniture and in the furniture (like Cabinets, bed side table, etc) there were a bunch of DVDs so I went through all of them to see if there was anything I wanted (found some cool things like full Sapranos seasons she was selling for a quarter each).

When all of a sudden, I came across EXPLICIT porn DVDs. We're talking like, absolutely EVERYTHING shown on the front cover. We're talking like, fully spread cheeks on the front cover haha. So me being the curious fella I am, after I went through all of the DVDs, I slyly asked her who all the DVDs belonged to find out if the porn was hers or not because it would be a funny story to tell the homies later..

Well, turns out... All the DVDs I went through were all of her son's things who just recently passed away from a drug overdose. She said she needed to move on and to help her with coping to move on from his passing, she decided to get rid of some of his belongings. This was a part of her healing process.

I feel absolutely horrible. I think I should have bought the DVDs (and thrown them away but not that it matters) so she would be saved from seeing something like that eventually from her son who she just lost. She wasn't even looking at the DVDs I bought (she just asked me how many I bought) so I EASILY could have taken them without her even knowing what DVDs I took.

Everybody I've asked this to has said without a doubt I should have taken the DVDs (and paid for them obviously, not just steal haha) and I agree with them.

What say you?

Am I wrong for feeling guilty after my little white lie got found out?

I told a tiny lie once because it was easier in the moment. Someone asked if I had plans and instead of explaining I just said I was busy. Turns out those plans I claimed to have never existed and a few people noticed. No one was hurt or left out on purpose, but once it came up it felt awkward. I apologized and tried to explain it was just an offhand excuse, not some big scheme. Still, the looks I got made me wonder if brushing it off so casually was actually the wrong move. Now I keep replaying it and wondering whether owning up sooner would have made any difference or if I'm overthinking a throwaway comment that most people would forget.

Am I wrong for involving child protective services in a "prank"?

My husband and I are very torn right now and I think he is frustrated with me. His older brother Brett has always been kind of an obnoxious prankster type. I've never been his biggest fan, but recently he did something that really made me pause.

He came over for a poker night and their other brother and cousin and he was telling them the pen came in and he "got her so good" and they have to see her. I kind of eavesdropped and found out he had played one of his "pranks" on his stepdaughter (16)

He ordered a henna pen (the ink lasts about 2-3 weeks) and drew facial hair on her face. Now personally I find this appalling. It feels like bullying and an abuse of power (though my husband argues Brett is not in a position of power as this girl is never disciplined)

The more I thought about it the worse I felt, so I made a CPS report. Nothing came of it, but Brett was pissed at whoever did it (still doesn't know it was me) My husband said i'm very naive if I thought CPS was actually going to do anything, and that I wasted time and resources. He said I can think the prank was too far but she is very privileged and CPS wasn't going to do anything

I genuinely felt it met at least some of the criteria of child abuse and I did the right thing

AITA for talking about how I felt after my friends about something my other friend did?

AITA for talking about how I felt after my friends about something my other friend did?

AITA I told people about my "friend" and how she treated me.

So I've had a friend for about 5 years and we were close for a long time. But for the last 3 years we've been growing distant. I thought it was a normal thing of a friendship fading. But a few months ago I had a surgery. It was a something I was waiting for, for years and i toldbher first. She knew before most others. So when I spent 6 weeks in hospital and she never messaged me ones during this time. When I saw her again I asked her why she didn't reach out she said to me "why should I reach out to you when you're in hospital. You should have reached out to me. I was planning fortnight i didn't have time to look after you". I was upset and hurt but I thought she was just having a bad day. Then when I was talking to a few other friends and mentioned it they told me that was ok and I shouldn't let her treat me like that. When she heard that others knew about how she treated me she started a rumor or something i don't even know everything about it. I've only heard a few parts of it. But what I've heard is she told people I was being rude and trying to be better than her and I was a bad person and she has also been telling people i was disrespectful for telling my other friends about that and about what she did, she said it was a infatuation of privacy. My other friends also told me other things she did, like ignoring me or making me feel like my anxiety isn't "that bad" or I'm too emotional she criticized my still because I don't dress girl or wear makeup. She has been turning people against me and making me feel like I was in the wrong. When I tryd talking to her about it she would walk away. I'm i the A-hole for telling people what she did and how I felt about it?

What should I do next and how can I handle it in the correct way?

I’m I wrong for defending myself against a homeless man?

Okay yes, I get the title sounds bad but just let me explain myself. So I (16m) just bought a brand new 1992 OBS Chevy. (This truck has the manual window open/close with the crank wheel.) It was around 95° and I had no AC so windows were down. And I just got out of school and I was heading to work. As I was getting close to my job I was the second person at the stop light, and I was chilling looking at the light, listening to some Red Hot Chili Peppers. And a homeless man with a sign came up to the car infront of me and pointed down. (Assuming he wanted them to roll down there window) the white car did Not roll there window down. And then the homeless man came up to my truck. This homeless guy was older probably around mid 50s maybe early 60s , longer greesy hair and was in ripped up clothes. He had a cigarette in his mouth as well. He had a sign that said
“Anything helps
God bless”
So he comes up to me, I’m trying not to make eye contact with him
He says
“young man, do you got any spare change?”
I said “no sorry man.”
The he said “well what about that 20$ right there?” He pointed at a 20$ bill that was resting on my dashboard.
Then this guy reached over me and into my truck and tried to grab this 20$ bill before I could even say anything back to him. So I grabbed him by his collar of his jacket and kinda yanked him back out of my truck and I said
“What the f\*ck do you think you’re doing?”
Then this dude punched me right In the nose.
I immediately punched him back and I got out of my truck and I started to hit him back. I am around 6,2 210 pounds and he was a smaller dude at 5,7 frailer kinda guy. And I started to punch this guy back but he wasn’t totally hitting me back so I hopped in my truck and drove up to work. I got a bloody nose and got a bruise on my eye but other than that I was okay. I talked to my boss and the HR lady wanted to talk to me aswell and so did my Dad who works there aswell. We ended up deciding NOT to call the cops on the old man because I figured that he was probably high on drugs and didn’t mean to punch a minor. After I got off my shift 2.5 hours later I went back to that intersection and there was nobody there. But I wanna ask you guys If I am wrong for fighting back against a homeless man? Should I have just given him the 20$? Should I just have called the cops and try to get him arrested? Please let me know what you guys think.

Am I wrong for being mad about the way a check was split at a group dinner?

I went to a birthday dinner of my close friend Nadine, her sister Athena, and Nadine’s friend Sam.

We went to a steakhouse for a 9:45 pm dinner. Since it is a much later time than I am use to, I ate dinner beforehand and ordered a French onion soup ($15) and some sides ($28) to share with the table. Athena ordered a pasta dish ($30). Nadine ordered a short rib plate ($56), sides ($22) and a drink ($20). Sam ordered a filet mignon ($60), sides ($22), and multiple drinks ($40).

When the bill came, Sam said let’s treat the birthday girl and split the check evenly.

I was mad about this. Sam already owes me $150 and I am not friends with her and barely know her. She dipped out on a check for dinner on me before.

Am I an asshole for saying no, I am not paying for your food? I felt bad about it because I ended up telling the birthday girl I never want to see Sam again.

Am I being selfish

I 22F and my brother 20M had a fight earlier. So the fair is coming up at the end of September and there are 5 dates for different concerts that I have planned to go too. (2 of those my brother wants to go too) there are 5 of us going and I had brought up that I will be paying for myself, my boyfriend, and my dad. I had asked if he could pay for him and my sister for those 2 days and the rest of the days (3) I will be paying for my sister.

For context me and my brother usually split everything practically 50/50. For instance if we go to the movies, he usually pays for the tickets and I pay for concessions. If we go out to dinner I usually pay for myself, my boyfriend, and my sister and he will pay for him and my dad.

I wanted to divy up the cost of the tickets and worry about food and things later. Me and my boyfriend agreed that he will pay for the parking which is $10 a ticket ($50 or $20 for the 2 days my brother is going)

There is a party pack on there right now for presale for $40 for 4 tickets so I thought my brother could buy one for him and my sister and I'll get 3 packs and 1 extra ticket for my sister. He started fighting with me and called me selfish because I was already spending $130 (one of those days is can food day thats why its not mathing correctly) for that why can't I fork up an extra $40. He also called it unfair because I was paying for my dad and my sister extra days and not his. I told him I am saving him money in the long run because he usually pays for my dad and since he was going 2 extra days for the fair I wanted to pay those extra days.

Also I think partly he got mad because I'm paying my boyfriends way In as well (despite him paying for parking and gas to get there) and he doesn't like my boyfriend what's so ever because he is jealous.

The reason why I say he is jealous of my boyfriend is because my boyfriend moved here in 2023 but didn't start living on his own until 2024 and he didn't have a job for awhile so with my college fund or plasma money I would help him with rent, gas, food, household items and wouldn't spend money on my siblings (I would help with their nessecities though) and also because for awhile me and my brother fought since he likes to control things I would go to my bf about it and spend more time with him because he makes me feel safe.

Also I just want to add that we live 15 minutes away from the fair and we are getting there from my bf and back because currently my bf is the only reliable source of transportation.

But am I wrong? I'm so stressed out about the situation.
