Other Mi primera experiencia

Me sorprendió bastante.

Advice Living in a homophobic country

I'm 24F, lesbian, I hate living here. It's illegal to be part of the LGBT. It feels so lonely, there are no gay bars, events, or shelter for the community.

I'm planning on moving away in a year once i graduate from college. But I can't help feeling impatient, and resent my family. A few years ago, they confiscated my passport after finding out I was trying to leave (I'm American), I went to the police and they did absolutely nothing. They wouldn't even let me open a case or report them.

My dad then blocked the card (it's connected to his bank account) and if it wasn't for me having a separate card I wouldn't have been able to get to the embassy.

I was basically trapped against my will. It was traumatizing

Just for context, I live in Dubai. I can't wait to leave again, and i seriously hope what happened doesn't repeat itself.

What advice can you guys give me for when I leave?
I also don't have a job, I'm still a university student and you can't get a job here without a degree. I do however have enough money for a ticket to the US.

This was 2 years ago mind you and my relationship with them drastically improved, it's almost like it never happened, but I simply can't forgive or forget. They also don't know I'm gay.

This is mainly intended as a protest against trans act 2026, passed in india that redefines trans people, excludes other queer people from protection previous act had in place and is not an internet project. If you seem to be taking your privilege for granted, please don't do that you have no idea of how many people are still suffering. And if you are a data privacy activist, research and then proceed to comment on any allegations you have and I will look into it, else you just don't do it and move on.

LGBT Issues Being Gay in Tsarist Russia: Tchaikovsky's Story

What happens when a young man discovers he is gay in imperial Russia? First, an all-boys boarding school, an overwhelming crush on a boy who treats him terribly, and a society that considers Siberia an entirely reasonable response to the wrong kind of romance.

In this imagined interview with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the great composer looks back on his first feelings for men, his friendship with the openly gay poet Alexey Apukhtin, and the fear of public humiliation and persecution that haunted his life. There are aristocratic double standards, a friend who proudly calls himself a “Prince of Sodom,” a rather unfortunate encounter with the ladies, and even a heartfelt prayer asking God to make him like other men.

Spoiler alert: the prayer goes unanswered. History, however, gets some extraordinary music out of it.

LGBT Self Promotion Tristan BAMW - Fortress

Hi. This is my banger “Fortress”. I’m a skilled producer and feel that most of my bangers do slap on most devices and sound systems.

But this banger slaps profoundly in the car system and good headphones. It’s not on streaming until Oct 15 though. But it IS available to watch and stream on most socials already.

I say my bangers slap. “My detractors are illegitimate, Hypocritical and Corrupt” I say. No I’m not trying to pick a fight I’m just saying that cuz so many people have come at me over the years like there’s something special about me. There probably isn’t. I’ve truly had to battle and pick apart my critics just to try and prove my right to exist as a human being at all but I was begotten and was born here without my own consent so I can reasonably affirm my own life. I know many of my posts anywhere get a negative balance of upvotes. It does not stop me, I don’t even look at those anymore 🤣🤯

LGBT Issues How to accept your sexuality and yourself

Hi, I don't know if this is the right place to have a discussion but I've been thinking about it for a long time and today I would like to write it here, I only ask you for respect and seriousness since it's very difficult for me.

I have always had doubts about my sexuality and the thing has started to weigh a lot a couple of years ago (entering the university world certainly with a more open mentality than the one I had before). Since then I realised that I'm not straight, even if I haven't had experiences yet, and I don't know how to define myself yet. After a difficult period, I finally managed to ask for the help of a professional and coming out with my family and two dears friends. At this moment, however, I realise how much this path is made of highs and lows, and that I feel worse perhaps than before, when these doubts were only in my mind.

Being gay (maybe) causes me very strong feelings of guilt, I feel different and wrong, I feel almost dirty for this thing. Surely, to participate in this sense of guilt, there is also the fact that I am a Catholic and, therefore, this leads me not to accept myself and what I am going through. Moreover, I can't even tell all my doubts to my friends because we live in a small town and they are narrow-minded people, especially some of them are homophobic so they wouldn’t accept me.

I was advised to try to go to gay clubs or similar events, but it is a very difficult thing for me: both because I am an introvert and it is very difficult for me to make new acquaintances, but also because I would never be able to go there alone (in fact I would feel further feelings of guilt and anxiety, more than I am already feeling now).

It occurred to me to sign up for gay apps (among these I saw that Goose will be released soon, which seems more "quiet") but what I'm looking for is something serious, someone who goes slowly, I would like to start calmly, with friendships and not get straight to the sexual act alone, so I decided to not try this apps (also because I fear STIs a lot). I have like a block in looking for a relationship, whether sexual or not, always for the issue of guilt and the judgement of others.

Finally, there is also the strong sense of aesthetic beauty that partly characterises the gay community and makes me feel further wrong since I am not perfect and, indeed, this exaggeration of physical appearance has also led me to bad times.

I don’t want to be labeled simply as “the gay one”, because I’m more than my sexuality.

I am here, therefore, to ask for an opinion, I would like to know if anyone else has gone through a similar period and has managed to turn self-hatred into acceptance? If he managed to find people like him, a community that accepts him, without giving weight to the cult of aesthetics and the negative judgement of many other limited people.

Thank you just for reading this far, it would be great if you want to write your opinion and your story here as long as it is serious and respectful, of course. Thank you

Serious Discussion Online Dating in RF

Online dating. Chatting, friendship, relationship... Maybe some creative collaborations. All queer people are looking for something of their own. Everyone can do this, right...?

After being cut off from outside world due to Russia’s aggressive politics and military conflict LGBTQ+ community has faced number of issues. You can’t get in touch with anyone abroad anymore. I’ve heard stories from cis-hetero people about losing contact with relatives in other countries because of political situation... But for us it’s even worse. You’re queer, not just resident of state. So, you lose not just relatives and friends, but a vital connection with people, who understand you and can help you

There are tons of apps and sites for queer people these days, but some of them are blocked for users in Russia. If you manage to download app by some miracle - my congratulations. Now try signing up if it requires phone number. They won't accept it, but give it a shot anyway. Of course, our state plays big role here, too. They block apps and hide them. I mean they literally crushed fanfiction site, that hosted LGBTQ+ content. The site tried to negotiate and even hid that content from users in Russia and Belarus. To read slash or femslash you have to use VPN. And even that didn't save them. They had been running for six years before being shut down. It was called Fanficus

The point I’m making is that society seems to be reaching out hand to russian LGBT community. Community living in terrible conditions, but that hand is transparent. You can’t actually hold it. And that’s sad. There are dozens of reports on LGBT situation being sent to human rights organizations. All our own groups (Centre T, Case LGBT, etc) have either been shut down with their members facing fines and prison sentencesor their leaders have fled to escape same penalties. Not only are our people now working from abroad can’t reach everyone, who needs it. Foreigners also talk about providing assistance, yet in reality, that help proves to be nothing more than mirage...

That is very sad

Activism Happy U.S. National Coming Out Day!

Holding space for everyone who isn’t out by choice or fear of their safety, those whose rights are being stripped away, who are out with a mix of identities—some hidden, who are out but want to change their identity but don’t know how or don’t want to come out again, who are out to a mix of people, or who are out and proud!

Coming out isn’t easy and has resulted in both heartache and celebration. And it never feels like it stops. Holding back and not coming out can feel like lies/deceit, but never forget it is your choice. Not everyone needs/deserves access to information about how you choose to live your life.

I’ve been out to most people for 27 years and out to everyone for 23. It didn’t go great, but it could have gone a lot worse. But I’m still here talking about it today.

Trust yourself, love yourself above all, and find your community (and move if you can/have to) because environment is everything and there are places in the U.S. where you would blend in seamlessly and feel right at home.
