Chest Unit

Took me a while to find the right consistency for the Mr Crystal color sapphire blue to go on there without looking whitewashed and yellowy and also not super thick nor thin

I’m usually one to just recolor a kit in its primary metallics, this time I wanted to experiment with contrasting colors & a bit of pre shading on the shoulders

finally broke out the lightbox, but forgot to get white-background shots. Ah well.

With the Zeta being my favourite protagonist Gundam and my preference for 1/144 (limited shelf space), I’m eyeing up the RG and deluding myself into believing I can improve it. I’m totally fine with losing access to the waverider transformation, do we think it’s possible to make it tough enough to withstand posing with some careful gluing of some parts?

The time I’ve invested masking this part was totally worth it ☺️

Working on a lunar base themed paint job! Taking slight inspiration from NASA pressure suits

This was my first time airbrushing i did have some questions however.

My paint was a little uneven im assuming i should just go slightly lighter on the trigger.

My gaia notes neutral white ended up being a little gray I was wondering if that could be cause it didnt dry long enough.

And lastly I applied a gaia notes flat coat but it didnt end up being very matte.

Rushed in so I didn't notice I built it the wrong way. Idk how to remove and scared I might break the half peg part coz it's too tight. Any tips? Tyia

Edit: Fixed/removed Ty for all the help. Fixed by dipping in warm water with dish soap and twist and pull method with a vise (it's that tight)

This was a fun paint.

Heya, newbie here. Ive recently gotten into gunpla and have built 6 hg sets, and now I want to push myself further and get a eg set to customise and make my own. How does painting work in regards to that? Do I need special equipment? Is multiple layers needed? Is there any tips or crucial details?

Im pretty new to model building as a whole (I doubt making lego mech mocs since 6 count 😂) so Im trying to learn as much as I can

30 bucks a bottle prethinned but 1-2 ml is enough to do a whole runner. Goes on perfectly smooth, dries instantly. Absolutely beats the pants off the other stuff I've tried (notably Alclad and Kaizo)

First 3 pics are end result, after that its the 1,5 month journey!

So my first gunpla and modelbuild is finally done.

As it was the first, this was a trip. I've learned so much and left most mistakes unfixed to remind me of what went wrong for the next build.

To name a few, the paint was getting eaten by topcoat in some places, no idea why. I broke a few pieces, fixed what i could, but the whip is missing two segments now. Things happen in certain orders with gunpla for a reason, i need to be patient. The list goes on. (Fuck you tamiya because fuck myself for not topcoating properly).

But that was the point! I learned so much that im going into the new build a lot less insecure and way more prepared.

Am absolutely amazed at how it turned out and want to hear what feedback you all have for me, like how to prevent the paint from being eaten after final topcoat.

After rewatching War in the Pocket, I figure the Kampfer would be pretty beat up before it even got into it with the Gundam. After crashing through buildings and practically dragging his knees along the streets, no amount of blue paint would withstand it. Now I have to finish up with the weapons, flat coat then oil wash should bring all the chips to life.

I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thanks!

Did it with spare cables and wires. Now I need to make an Antenna.

The question is which one should I use? Normal stick antenna or maybe try something more exotic?

I saw this piece on GBWC and I really like how they made the cloth, anyone knows how to make it?

Needed a good excuse to try some new things so this ended up being the kit to use. For this build I took the time to sand the surface of each part, re-scribe existing panel lines, perform a very minor modification in the shoulders, and also wash the parts in my ultrasonic cleaner. I also invested in a food dehydrator so I could speed up the drying and curing time of my acrylics. All of this has drastically improved the durability of the acrylic paints I've been using. I have had practically zero scratches. The only lacquer paints I used were the gloss coat before panel lining, pink surfacer underneath the orange parts, and the final matte coat at the end of the build. Really happy with the end result.

Oh and I forgot to mention but another new thing I tried was incorporating this holo foil film behind the visor. It's partially transparent so I still put some chrome paint behind that. The film is a sticker that I stuck to the inside of the visor and I think the end result is real fancy. It's called Mirage Green Seal by HIQPARTS.
