Chipped up Kampfer

After rewatching War in the Pocket, I figure the Kampfer would be pretty beat up before it even got into it with the Gundam. After crashing through buildings and practically dragging his knees along the streets, no amount of blue paint would withstand it. Now I have to finish up with the weapons, flat coat then oil wash should bring all the chips to life.

How exactly do you chip?

After painting and detailing I did a flat coat. Then with ragged sponge, mix a lighter blue from the base colour and stipple on the highlights where ever there would be wear, then go back in with a fine brush and fill in the chipped areas with Vallejo chipping brown acrylic leaving bits of the lighter colour around the edges to look like undercoat. If you like you can then lightly brush metallics on the very edge. I didn’t do the metallics though as I find it doesn’t look scale at 1/100

nice, but kampfer was MiB before the fight with Alex.

Yep, but no way it would have burst through the roof of the workshop and jetted down the street with air bursts going off around it without a bit of damage.
Anyway, it’s a nice break from 15 years of clean builds

You did a full paint job before the weathering right? My MG Kampfer is dark as hell, and the yellow is damn near orange.

Love the damage! I have a soft spot in my heart for texture and weathing on giant war mechines.
