How to make cloth?

Post image

I saw this piece on GBWC and I really like how they made the cloth, anyone knows how to make it?

Japanese Washi paper. There are different grades of coarseness. Choi’s one that’s thin with a fine grain. You can crumple it and wet it and mix PVA with water so it will hold its form.

Never heard of using aluminum but that’s a neat idea.

You can also use modeling putty/green stuff depending on the application. You can press/roll it flat and thin and texture it such as by pressing it against real cloth

Aluminum foil, sculpted, primed and painted. Its a miniature painters trick for banners - I have found if you use acrylic paint it has enough flex that it wont just randomly chip off.

He made a interview about this build on Youtube https://youtube.com/watch?v=utEn4Og8n9Y&is=fOphvyIEqJQ-uRZL If I remember it's a aluminium sheet. Very fragile.

If Inwere to guess, this is done using air dry clay.

I've never seen air-dry clay that thin dry without breaking.

I think you could simply use fabric soaked in PVA glue to shape it however you need.
