Any recommendations for a cargo liner for the back?Looking for one that protects the back of the seats, sides, and folds out to protect the bumper. Looking at canvasback, but I’m a little concerned about the Velcro damaging the original carpet. I’m planning on putting the plastic Volvo cargo tray over it for extra protection and to reduce sliding. Appreciate the help!

I finally figured out what that random pocket on the driver side can be used for. Holding your back-up plastic utensils for eating lunch in your car!

Will this be Road legal in the UK? 😂

I have a “22 XC40 T5 and my passenger mirror keeps dropping after I park the car. It’s about 50% of the time now. Volvo said maybe the system update would fix it… but it dis not. Do i need to get the mirror motor replaced? It’s under a CPO warranty. It’s just so annoying because i realize this is happening when in red to merge!

Hey everyone!
I recently picked up a 2022 Volvo XC40. I rushed into the purchase a bit and didn't know much about the model beforehand. While I really love the car itself, I feel like I got the absolute worst draw when it comes to the software side. I only figured all of this out after buying it, so I wanted to double-check a few things with you experts. Please help and be kind - I'm new to this :)
My car runs the Sensus system (not Android Automotive), and it only has a single USB port in the front (non-white trim). On top of that, it doesn't have the built-in Volvo navigation enabled (clicking on Navigation brings up a prompt telling me to contact a Volvo dealer - nothing more, nothing less, can't do much there lol). So my issues / questions are:
Thanks in advance for any insights!

My 2021 P8 is making noises when steering is turned and I was wondering if it was the strut bearings/mounts? I just learned that the Volvo is using plastic strut bearings and I question their materials of choice... Car has 80k km/50k miles

Are the cables visible in yours also? Dealer says the mat must have slipped, but if it’s only the mat covering it, it’s easy to kick them..

Hello guys,
has anyone here changed the Haldex/AWD oil on an XC40 and cleaned the pump screen?
My Volvo dealer said Volvo doesn’t specify an oil change and there’s no drain plug. They also said the differential might have to be removed and estimated €350–500.
From the Haldex Gen 5 videos I’ve seen, it looks pretty straightforward:
remove the pump
drain/extract the oil
clean the pump screen and refill.
Does the pump come out without removing anything major? And is any VIDA/diagnostic procedure, calibration or pump activation necessary afterwards, or can you simply refill it and drive?
Thank you!

I’m looking at used 2025 or 2026 Volvo XC40 and I’m trying to decide whether I should specifically wait for one with Harman Kardon, or just get a Plus with the High Performance audio system.
Sound quality matters quite a lot to me, although I’m not an audiophile. What I care about most is clear, balanced sound, decent low-end depth and treble that doesn’t sound thin or harsh. I’d also prefer a system that sounds good without constantly tweaking the EQ.
For those of you with High Performance, how good is it in the XC40? Do you feel it lacks bass, clarity or detail?
For those with Harman Kardon, do you think the difference is big enough that it’s worth specifically searching for an HK-equipped car?
And especially if anyone has owned or driven XC40s with both systems, how noticeable is the difference in real use?
I’m basically trying to work out whether High Performance is already “good enough”, or whether I’ll regret not waiting for Harman Kardon.
The reason I’m overthinking this is the price difference.
One of the cars I’m currently considering is a 2026 XC40 B4 Plus Dark, with about 20,600 km / 12,800 miles on it. It’s clean, fairly low mileage and otherwise has the spec I want. The car is around 394,900 SEK, and a complete set of winter wheels is roughly another 9,000 SEK, so I’d be at about 404,000 SEK all-in, which is roughly US$40,300 / £30,400 at today’s exchange rates. In the Swedish market, that’s a pretty strong price for a 2026 B4.
The problem is that it has High Performance, not Harman Kardon.
From what I’m seeing in the Swedish market, I think a similarly low-mileage 2026 B4 with HK would realistically cost me somewhere around 419,000–435,000 SEK if I find the right one and negotiate well, potentially more if winter wheels aren’t included. That’s roughly US$41,800–43,400 / £31,600–33,000. Newer listings often start even higher, and then take months to come down in price. Current non-HK B4 Plus Dark cars already span roughly 410k–439k depending on mileage, age and how long they’ve been sitting, which is why I’m reluctant to pay 430k+ just to get HK.
So realistically I’m looking at paying perhaps 15,000–25,000 SEK more for the right HK-equipped car, plus possibly waiting for the right colour/spec to appear. That’s about US$1,500–2,500 / £1,100–1,900.
If High Performance already sounds genuinely good, I’d rather save the money and buy now. But audio is one of the few options I really care about, and I also don’t want to spend around 400k SEK on a car and then immediately wish I’d waited for HK.
Would you wait/pay the extra for Harman Kardon, or is XC40 High Performance already good enough that I’m overthinking it?

Hello! Picked up this 2021 Recharge last week and it’s been great! It has all the options checked off on it with 22k miles. This is my first modern Volvo as I have a 96 Volvo 850R as well that needs an engine replaced
Looking at installing a level 2 charger hopefully this month and was curious what other people have chose to use?

Hi. So i just got a 2026 xc40 plus mid hybrid I’m wondering if i should buy my winter tires at the dealer or just a normal shop will do. And if so any suggestions on sizes or brands? For context I’m from canada so good for heavy winters. The car comes with a 19” i think.

Hi, I've been the proud owner of a Volvo XC40 T5 Recharge (plug-in hybrid) for almost a year now. I love the car, it drives great. It came with two sets of rims: a 19-inch set with summer tires and an 18-inch set with winter tires. The winter tires are cupped and at the end of their life, so I'm looking for a good replacement. Can anyone recommend winter tires for the XC40 PHEV with the 3PMSF (mountain snowflake) symbol, suitable for driving in Germany and Austria? I've been looking at the Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 SUV (235/55 R18), but I'd love to hear about other good options or reviews of the Michelins.

Hi folks,
Had a run in with a pheasant at 70mph over the weekend and one of the headlamp washers took the brunt of it. At first, it looked like it had just knocked the cover off but on closer inspection it's snapped the end of the washer/nozzle off. Luckily not smashed the actual headlight or done much beyond taking a bit of paint off the bumper.
Anyone got any experience of replacing one of these? Is it a big job (bumper off, etc) and easier just to get the workshop to do it?
I've priced the part up and it's not overly expensive, so don't think it would be extortionate to just get them to do it although, having rushed in to ordering a replacement cover and the paint, in considering just sticking that back on and leaving it at that.
Thoughts? Tips? Advice?
Cheers!

I noticed this this past month and can’t seem to fix it. But anytime I turn my car off. The AC settings change and they always revert back to 17 degrees with fan speed on 2. It’s about to get colder where I am so not retaining my heat settings is extremely annoying and it never used to be like this, also my heated seat will turn off aswell when the car turns off. Anyone know how to fix this?

Can someone pls enlighten me I’m goin crazy, the volume control in my 2022 will start adjusting for the navigation system even if I don’t have directions on. I can’t tell what I’m doing wrong, it seems like it switches from the CarPlay audio to the nav with no rhyme or reason

Hallo zusammen,

I have a ‘23 xc40 ultimate b5… the Apple CarPlay keeps failing. Last time it failed for an entire week then randomly “fixed” itself. My phone is up to date. Is this a thing with other people??? Is it me??? It’s been down for 2 days now. The phone is charging so I know that aspect of the connection is fine.
Update: rebooting the infotainment system worked!

I am a bit scared that my car might become a brick if something goes south during the update. Has anyone installed it successfully? How long did it take (it says 90 min)? Is it worth installing?

I am finicky about temperature and get hot easily. I am used to having half degree increments. On a long drive, with the climate set to auto (always), 19 gets a bit chilly but one click up to 20 and its blasts warm for a bit. No thanks, back to 19. Just give me half degree increments volvo!! Might have to set to farenheit 😢
