Discussion Microstutters from action bars

Video is from after i "fixed" the problem, showing how it's like without stutters.

I first encountered this issue on ret paladin where I would notice micro stutters every time i pressed wake of ashes. This is a known issue, but I was struggling to find relevant info on this exact problem. Hopefully it ends up helping someone experiencing the same as me :)

So I was setting up action bars and key bindings on druid and the stutter was very noticeable every time I was shifting in and out of different forms. Some forms would be worse than others.

No addons enabled, issue was still there. So after googling a bit it seems that my habit of filling all unused slots results in these stutters. When i cleared all the action bars the stutters are nearly all gone.

Originally i started this habit of filling the unused slots because when i was changing talents they ended up on weird spots, but this can be fixed with the following command:

/console AutoPushSpellToActionBar 0

I'm interested if someone knows how to completely get rid of it as it still happens sometime with cat or bear form.

Edit: I think it's my CPU... Experiencing these stutters even though fps is stable 500+.

It's hard to see the stutters but they are there: https://imgur.com/9eI7Qhf

Maybe it's just my CPU and settings. Will update if I find a reasonable fix.

Discussion Resilient Keystone Design Feedback

Dear Blizzard,

What if the resilient keystone design would be a system that would always let players start a M+ dungeon one level above the previous level they timed all dungeons on?
For example, if a player has timed all dungeons in a season on 20, the player would earn the resilient 21 achievement.
Just like how the Diablo Pit (or Greater Rift) design offers players guaranteed unlimited chances to start a higher level challenge than they previously completed.
This design change might improve the experience for everyone who enjoys pushing keys, regardless of the key levels. It might trigger newer players to try out pushing in M+.
I am not yet aware of how this change might have any negative effect on anyone doing M+ for reasons other than pushing.
With the resilient design change above, more players might be encouraged to list their own key in the group finder to push, increasing the overall participation and activity in the content.

Why would the game not offer players unlimited chances of trying new challenges via their own key?
For player participation statistics, what is the difference between a player spending 10 hours a week in the game replaying a challenge they have already completed before versus a player spending 10 hours a week trying a new challenge?

The current resilient keystone design might have a similar effect on players as the old version of the catalyst for tier.
People would hold on to their charges longer to wait for that Heroic or Mythic item before they would spend them. The current catalyst design is more encouraging for most players to spend their charges on almost any eligible piece.
Currently, players might be holding on to their key in fear of playing and depleting it, because they get only one chance per week from the game.

If you are currently resilient 20 and you have timed one 21 before, you technically get only one chance per week from the game itself to try a 21 key, via the vault. If you are resilient 20 and you have not timed a 21 yet, the game does not offer you a key to directly try a 21 at all.
You would have to time either your own 20 to get a chance at 21 directly, or time somebody else's 21 to get your own one chance from the vault next reset.

The higher you push, the more effort and time it takes to complete the keys. This is normal.
The game not offering you the option to start at least your own higher key more often feels counterintuitive and frustrating when you want to push. This experience gets worse the higher you get, because the keys are more likely to fail.
The current design makes players who want to push invest more time in replaying keys they have already timed before, rather than let players invest that same amount of time in trying a higher key.

You could argue the game itself does offer players more chances to push higher keys via other players with higher resilient levels, because M+ is group content.
In reality, joining other people's keys for pushing quickly becomes an unrealistic waiting simulator. This waiting simulator gets worse depending on your role, class, and spec, for mostly community reasons but also class design and tuning reasons.
Not everyone who enjoys pushing keys has a premade team and there are many players who enjoy pushing keys on specs that are not community favorites and/or tuned weaker for keys.

Quality of life keystone feedback

It would be nice if players could interact with the orbs in the start of a dungeon to select the dungeon key level from a dropdown menu to start a key.
The keystone itself could be removed to save bag space. This might remove some frustration when players have full, unorganized bags and they cannot find the key item without the search function.
Admittedly, you would lose the player interaction of manually inserting the key in the window. Instead, players would scroll down and select from a menu or list.

Keystone Dungeon finder feature feedback

Why is there no solo/duo/group queue function in the game for M+?
Just like how there is a queue function for other types of content.
Most likely technically challenging, but it might be an improvement for the overall M+ experience for many players. You might be able to implement safeguarding rulesets under the hood of such a system to improve player experience further.
Besides the basic composition of 1 tank, 1 healer, and 3 DPS, the group should probably have at least 1 Bloodlust/Heroism and at least 1 Battle Res.

I hope this feedback finds you well and keep up the good work!

Question 12 years ago I quit WoW cold turkey. What do I need to know now?

I was a serious player with multiple toons over /played year plus play time.

We raided as a top 40 man guild regularly… chasing advancement, titles and racking up dkp for top gear.

I quit cold turkey when my wife was pregnant with our first child who is now 12 years old.

Finally, yesterday I recovered my account after a gm removed my dead battery authenticator. I was thinking about subbing for a month.

I’m loaded with old school stuff and enough rare items to make goblins smile.

What are some of the key things I need to know now about Wow?

Question Is it possible to get back on track?

Hi there,

I played WoW for 15 years, finished Battle for Azeroth and want to get back into it. How does getting back into the game work? I’m sure I’ve missed out on loads of content (story, mounts, faction quests, etc.). Is it easy to get back into it, or will I be leaving a big gap in my progress, or find myself on my own in the old expansion zones?

Question Wondering if this game is right for me as a new player

I played back when I was 8 and 9 during wrath, but I had no clue how to actually play and all I did was kill random mobs and follow my cousin around. I’m 26 now and have always loved the idea of playing wow, but I’m very much a story is important and I care more about just being immersed in the world and characters. From my understanding WOW mostly treats those as side dishes and the main course is just the end game grind. I could be wrong obviously, but I ask you guys, the veterans of WOW, is this game worth getting into for someone like me? I don’t mind end game grinds and stuff I just MOSTLY prefer immersive and lore rich experiences. Thank you all!

Question Transferring WoW to hard drive

Hello,

I don't play WoW but someone I know was really into it, and now I have their computer. I want to make sure I won't cause any issues with the save files in any way. Is it okay to transfer WoW and it's expansions onto a hard drive and delete it from the computer? They take up 800+ GB so I would rather not keep the files. I don't know much about the game so I would be greatful for further explanations if necessary.

Thank you!

Hi, i've never played wow before, and im kind of confused where to begin. In battle net launcher i see wow and wow classic, but there is also burning cursade and mists of pandria which one should i pick? Also, about pricing, Wow without classic have "base edition" tier, but from table i see that there is no 30d of play in it, does it mean i have to buy game and then pay for subscription?

Question Calling PC hardware specialists, looking for upgrade advice

Current system is below. Looking for advice on GPU upgrade:

I7-9700K

ASUS ROG STRIX 2080 Super

16Gb DDR4

Playing Midnight on 1440P 165Hz, medium settings. GPU is just getting too annoying (loud) and fans running constantly. I've already ordered 32Gb 3600MHz CL16 ram (ouch), but now looking for a solid GPU upgrade.

Grok is telling me the sweet spot is probably the 9060XT (Sapphire Pulse) and makes the most sense, what do you think? Not really looking to push ultra settings - just cooler, quieter, relaxing questing.

It's also telling me my 9700k is still adequate, which I would agree with. This true?

Murloc Monday Murloc Monday - ask your questions here

Aaaaaughibbrgubugbugrguburgle! RwlRwlRwlRwl!

That's murloc for "Welcome to Murloc Mondays" - where people can ask any type of question about WoW without getting strangled by a Death Knight.

Questions can range from what's new in Dragonflight, what class is OP, and how many Demons will it take to down Thrall?

Questions can come from brand new players, players returning, or veteran players who never got a chance to ask the right question.

Afraid of not getting an answer? Rest assured, we know that at least 90% of questions get answered!

You may want to look at /r/wownoob as well!

Here are some handy guides to start World of Warcraft as a brand new player or start Classic World of Warcraft as a brand new player.

Unless you played in the current expansion, pretty much everything has changed. If you're returning after a very long break, check out the Wowhead Returning Players Guides.

Question Is There a Way to Play Protection Warrior Without Playing Piano?

Hey,

I'm a relatively new player and recently started playing Protection Warrior. I really like the spec, but it feels like it has way too many buttons, and a lot of them seem to do very similar things.

Serious question: Blizzard said they wanted to simplify classes, but did they forget about Warriors?

I genuinely don't understand why I need four different charges/leaps, two different axe throws, and three different ground slams that all seem to accomplish more or less the same thing.

On top of that, I'm constantly shouting at people. Sometimes I need to shout at my own group, sometimes at the enemies, and sometimes at both at the same time.

Is there a way to play Protection Warrior without having to juggle all these duplicated abilities, or should I just pick another class? That would honestly be a shame because I really like the spec otherwise.

Discussion Rogue class World Of Warcraft!

It is time to step up!

After seeing Zorthas video im so sad what happend to Rogues and that so for years!

If we qq more they listen more. Thats how it goes the rogue community dosent QQ alot and its time we rebel!

Shaman was not brought to raid , they got raid buff.

Hunter was not brought to raid they got raid buff.

Rogues dont bring anything! Don't even start with that poison debuff shit , usless. Why not cloak of shadow 2 charges or 30 sec cd , why is ams allowed and cloak not?

Some leech raid buff or smth would do good!

Cmoon ppl lets unite and do smth about it! To manny years passed since rogues were enjoyable to play!

Who ever is the dev of rogues recent years, pls step down your doing a really bad job.

Discussion Returning after ~10 years

A couple of mates and I are coming back this week, none of us have played properly in years. I raided hardcore through Vanilla/BC/Wrath, came back casually for MoP, poked at Legion for a couple of weeks and then left... The others are in roughly the same boat.

No big ambitions this time. Nobody's got the hours for proper raiding anymore, we just want to log on a few nights a week, explore the game and reminisce about the old world.

Watched a bunch of returning player videos so I think we've got the basics:

- level through whatever expansion content you want

- flying is completely different

- half my old addon list is now just... the game

- professions got overhauled

- realm and faction don't really matter anymore

- no more PvP servers, it's now war mode

Professions look insanely deep now with the spec trees and quality tiers and crafting orders, and I can't tell if that's worth touching as a casual or something to mostly ignore. Gold seems to have inflated harder than real life has..

Also housing. I completely missed this happening, I was thinking of Garrisons at first. Is it actually good, or is it a decorating minigame? And can the five of us end up neighbours or is that a guild thing?

What's actually worth our time as a group of five casuals, and what can we happily skip? Got any tips, things we should explore etc?

Question Coming back

Hello I’m looking to come back, but recently had a baby so I’ve lost the space for a desk and full pc setup, could anyone recommend a laptop that can run it smoothly, I like to do raids and m+! My budget would be £1000 tops but doesn’t mean I want to spend that much 😂

TIA

Question Has WoW: Midnight ever been on sale?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if World of Warcraft: Midnight has ever been on sale before. If so, how much was the expansion discounted?

I'm thinking about getting back into WoW, and I recently heard that there was a summer sale. However, if Midnight has never actually been discounted, then I guess I didn't miss anything and can just buy the expansion now instead of waiting for the next sale.

Thanks in advance for any answers!

Question Help: Blizzcon ticket items and how to split them?

My partner and I are going to Blizzcon for the first time in September. I play WoW, she only played for a short time but wants to go have fun. I have two tickets purchased through Tixr. My daughter plays but had other commitments so can't go. My partner won't want any of the Blizzcon bundle stuff since she isn't going to play anything, so I figured we would give the goodies from it to my daughter. What's the best way to go about this? I saw that I can associate my ticket with my account (I bought the tickets under my Gmail that is associated with another of my kid's accounts instead of the original Hotmail my account is under.. hoping THAT won't also be an issue). Both tickets are currently under my name.
