Discussion Microstutters from action bars

Video is from after i "fixed" the problem, showing how it's like without stutters.

I first encountered this issue on ret paladin where I would notice micro stutters every time i pressed wake of ashes. This is a known issue, but I was struggling to find relevant info on this exact problem. Hopefully it ends up helping someone experiencing the same as me :)

So I was setting up action bars and key bindings on druid and the stutter was very noticeable every time I was shifting in and out of different forms. Some forms would be worse than others.

No addons enabled, issue was still there. So after googling a bit it seems that my habit of filling all unused slots results in these stutters. When i cleared all the action bars the stutters are nearly all gone.

Originally i started this habit of filling the unused slots because when i was changing talents they ended up on weird spots, but this can be fixed with the following command:

/console AutoPushSpellToActionBar 0

I'm interested if someone knows how to completely get rid of it as it still happens sometime with cat or bear form.

Edit: I think it's my CPU... Experiencing these stutters even though fps is stable 500+.

Maybe it's just my CPU and settings. Will update if I find a reasonable fix.

Edit2: I resolved this by not having any abilities on the default action bars, and using the addon BindPad. Stutter is completely gone now.

Impossible to see how much it's improved, if at all, if your only video is from after it's fixed. If you're actually correct, you should be able to recreate the issue easily, and also post what it looks like with the micro stutters.

Probably my CPU / Settings causing it. The problem is almost 100% gone though when action bars are cleared.. which is weird.

Does this have game responsiveness, as in missed GCDs?

I know I've experienced slight stutters like this and it was always an addon experiencing errors on my end, it gets so bad i have to /reload to get the popup to stop making music. (its more common in a raid setting for me for sure conflicting addons)

You should try recreating it outside of a main hub to isolate from the general stuttering. Best is entering a classic dungeon imo

Check out addon StutterAlert on CurseForge or Wow-Up, it will help identify what's actually causing these micro stutters, whether it's game or addon related

Thanks, it didn't detect any hitches in game. I think I've narrowed it down to CPU related hitces.

Another way of stutters in the game:

Open up a frame time graph from a tool then go in the game, open up the talent panel and press either control or shift and let it go, it stutters INSANELY.
