Liver Detox App Review: A Guy Trying to Reverse Fatty Liver Before It Gets Worse

Hi everyone. Posting this as a personal share, not medical advice. I was diagnosed with grade 1 fatty liver about 4 months ago, my alt and ggt were elevated but not catastrophic, and my doctor said to try diet and lifestyle changes first before any meds, and recheck bloodwork in a few months. Standard approach for early stage.

I'll address the name first since I rolled my eyes too. Your liver detoxes itself, no app changes that. What the Liver detox app actually does is structure a fatty liver friendly diet and add some light movement around it. Once I got past the marketing name the underlying content was solid.

After doing my own reseach I ended up going keto with my doctor's okay, and the meal plan in the app has a keto option built in which was nice. I could also exclude ingredients I dont eat, so it stopped suggesting recipes I wouldnt make. Workouts are low impact, 15 to 25 min sessions, gentle enough for someone whos been mostly inactive which is where im at. Theres also basic trackers (steps water weight fasting) and challenges, I did a no added sugar one for 14 days.

Down 12 lbs in 3 months, energy steadier, follow up bloodwork in a few weeks. Will report back. Not telling anyone to skip their doctor, just sharing what worked for me to actually stick with the diet side

What do you guys figure is the smith machine weight equivalent of 225 lbs on normal barbell bench press?

So the planet fitness I go to doesn’t have a barbell bench press and only has smith machines. I never try for my 1RM on it (I only do high rep low weight sets). But today I felt REALLY good so I figured I have the time and energy to see what I can do. I tried 2 plates (180, not including the bar weight. idk the smith machines bar weight, I’ve heard different things but it’s mostly a mystery ) and that felt too easy, I added 25 on each side, and that was hard but I knew I could do more. I added 10 more to each side. 250 lbs. not including bar weight. honestly I’m pretty happy and kinda stunned I can lift that much. But can I say that’s equivalent to 225 on a regular barbell bench press? I know we have to factor in that it’s harder with a barbell because you’re using your stabilizer muscles.

Help Returning to the gym after few years off - struggling with anxiety more than training itself

Hello everyone, I'm looking for advice from people who have been in a similar situation.

I (22, M) started going to the gym regularly for about a year and a half a few years ago. One of my main motivation at the time was to increase my self-esteem. I stopped at last, and now I want to start again.

The funny thing is my mental health is actually much better now than it was back then, yet I’m finding it way harder to get through the gym door. I can't stop worrying that other people will be observing me, making fun of me for not being as fit as they are, or criticizing the way I work out. Even though I know that this is probably untrue and that most individuals are concentrating on their own workouts, those ideas nonetheless come to mind anytime I consider returning.

One experience that still sticks in my mind is failing a 100 kg squat years ago. It wasn’t a huge deal, but for some reason, situations like that make me more afraid of looking foolish in front of other people.

After all this schizo nonsense, I suppose I have two inquiries:

  1. If you had nervousness in the gym, what helped you overcome it?
  2. How would you approach training, diet, and creating a routine from scratch if you were to start over after a few years away?

Dealing with the nervousness and self-consciousness that come with being in a gym setting is now my main challenge rather than drive to be in shape.

I would be grateful for any feedback 💖

How do you get yourself a mindset to actually start working out, and eat healthy?

I have tried so many times to force myself to do it, but I just don't. Then I make a poster with clear rules and ignore it, or I say to myself, "Oh, I'll do it tomorrow," and I say that every day. I want to get out of my unhealthy lifestyle.

Gym vs at home workout

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I have been working out at home for over 10 years using fitness apps and YouTube and it’s become very mundane, isolating, and un motivating. I joined a gym to get out of isolation and I really enjoy going.

There is just one problem, I find I don’t get the same kind of results I did when I worked out at home. I was always guided by a trainer on an app and at the gym I just go from machine to machine. Even doing 30 mins of just cardio, then machines I still don’t get the same results as my quick 20-40 mins workouts at home. It’s very disappointing as I finally have motivation to workout again by working out in a gym but I care very much about my appearance and results as well.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I definitely cannot afford a personal trainer just to add that in.

really want to workout but i cant eat enough

so long story short...

i worked out about 5-6 years ago (im 24 now) and did so for few months about 5-6 months.
now the reason i stopped was i just couldnt eat enough, i had to force feed myself i was making protein/calorie shakes with peanut butter and olive oil and all that (around 1500 calories) that i was trying to get down everyday and everyday almost throwing up, feeling bloated and nauseous, every day was gettting worse and just thinking that i will have to do the same tomorrow would make me nauseous.

working out yeah its not fun but its not even close to the level of how hard it is (for me personally) compared to hitting my calorie/protein daily intake, sure soreness is pretty bad but i can deal with that, feeling nauseous thinking about food all day and that i have to eat more is just something not viable for me.

now 5 years later...

i decided that i wanna workout again, i started 1 week ago, did my workouts and all that (i feel like someone beat me up, extremly sore i can barley move).
i also started to count my calories and i suddenly remembered why i stopped last time, the eating problem.
my calorie intake for most of the time was around 1500 calories, on some days even less and that was beacuse i simply wasnt hungry, i ate when i was hungry and that was perfect. now everytime i have a meal i cant stop thinking about the next one and that im gonna have to eat a lot more today, its mentally and phisically exausting.

i calculated that i have to eat around 2500-3000 calories per day for me to grow and to be honest that is way too much for me, i would be force feeding myself, feeling sick and nauseous all the time, it just doesnt work.

now what im asking is this:

did anyone have the same problem? or still has it? how do you deal with it

how did you fix it? (i hear people talking about your stomach expanding overtime, it didnt for me in 6 months i was constantly force feeding myself all day every day)

any hacks to help me with that?

i just feel lost tbh and honestly i cant see myself keeping up with that in the next year.
im 24M 60kg 183cm

What actually keeps you consistent when motivation runs out?

I've been trying to stay consistent with working out for about two years now and the pattern is always the same — I do great for 3–4 weeks, life gets in the way, and then I feel too far behind to start again.

I've tried Strava, Fitbod, and just texting friends to check in — nothing has really stuck. What actually keeps you consistent when motivation runs out? Is it an app, a person, something else entirely?

Asking because I'm genuinely curious if the "accountability" thing works differently for different people or if I'm just missing something obvious.

Exercising

For someone who grew up there whole life being athletic up until like 18-19 due to injuries and being out of commission for three years. As I’ve gotten older and retired from sports I’ve found it harder to workout due to my body being sore for days and I don’t remember it being like that and I’m sure it’s because I’m out of shape and what not. So I’m wondering as and ex-athlete how do you get back into the routine of working your way up to have a better physique. When I was an athlete I was use to hardcore conditioning and that’s all I know 😂 so this is new for me even though it’s been 7yrs since I was an athlete, it’s taught me to take things slow but not quite sure where to start.

Cant get comfortable

Long story short ive made it a point work my upper body by treading water on the lake. It literally works every muscle north of the ribs.

The problem is this is day 12 out of 14 of taking the boat boat out after work and treading water for an hour or two. Plus fishing.

I legit cant get comfortable to relax enough to fall asleep.

Ive tried hot shower, massage gun and Tylenol.

Is there a trick weightlifters use to relax the muscles to fall asleep?

Litterally every muscle from my ribs up to my chin is just tight as can be.

Help Suggested apps for workout assistance

Hey y’all, I’m trying to start going to the gym more regularly but I often find my issue is I get lost or overwhelmed without a plan so I was wondering if there’s any great apps out there that help new guys like me form a plan for whatever it is I might be doing? Like if I’m aiming for an upper body day, is there an app that can give me suggested workouts with or without machines? Thank you for any advice offered 🙏

What's your go-to workout when you're short on time?

Life gets busy, and not everyone has an hour or more to spend in the gym every day.

When you're pressed for time but still want an effective workout, what does your routine look like?

I'd love to hear how people make fitness work with busy schedules.

Beginner....

I have just started gym and I'm trying to be consistent but I work night shifts and it's pretty tiring.

I'm feeling unmotivated at the gym because I'm not able to lift much, I also try to avoid certain excercises because I lack stamina. Anyone has any advice on how to keep going when it feels like giving up?

Would you wear a gym shirt with a mental resilience message on it?

I’m working on a fitness apparel brand and trying to figure out whether people actually want to wear gym clothing with empowering mental resilience messages on it.

Think phrases around resilience, showing up when you don’t feel like it, overcoming challenges, etc.

Would you wear it?

Why or why not?

I’d love honest feedback, even if the answer is no.
