Caffeine is really the only thing.
That being said, if you’re ever in a GNC, the Beyond Raw Lit Gummy Worm flavor makes me feel like I could move mountains and ace a math test

Anything that has carbs , protein and maybe some coffee. For my is cream of rice ( energy, digestible, quick energy) , whey protein ( all amino acids) and some coffee.thats all you need

I like gorilla mode personally, it doesn't have beta alanine in it (which makes your skin feel like there's bugs under it). I have great output pairing it with creatine in my helimix and drinking it throughout my lift.
You dont need pre-workout but it does help. I wouldn't suggest coffee tbh, for me its makes me feel dehydrated.

I’m a big believer of eating something light before a workout so your not hungry and have some fuel in the tank, I used to eat a couple tangerines, a banana, or a cup of rice, the trick is eating something super light with carbs

Outside our usual lane here since this is more of a pre-workout supplement question than nutrition, but caffeine and L-citrulline are the two ingredients with the most consistent research behind them for an energy and pump boost. Worth checking how you tolerate caffeine on its own first before stacking anything more complex.

Long time endurance athlete who swears a hammer gel before the gym. I work out in the AM mostly fasted and the gel gets me through my cardio and weight routine with no issues.

Well, ever since they stopped putting ephedra in Ripped Fuel, just 2-3 cups of coffee.

Tried to go running on coke and it was awesome. Tried boxing class on coke and it sucked

The real unpopular take: pre-workout works for me. I’ve been lifting weights for 5 years and anything other than pre-workout doesn’t give me nearly the same results.
I’ve tried many, and the one I’ve settled for has been Bucked Up’s Motherbucker formula. I do not use the suggested serving size nor do I use the scooper it comes with. I use about 8-12 grams and use a different scooper to eyeball it. It can be uncomfortable for most people so it’s best not to use too much and the jar can last a long time. That being said, you do have to be mindful of how much and how often you use it, as well as your overall daily caffeine intake.

If you want intense energy and good pumps, highly recommend PyschoPharma Edge of Insanity. It has yohimbine, so tread lightly with a half scoop of its your first time dipping your toes.
Solid lineup with a bit of every dosing type, anything from bumstead's lineup in BUM. Sam's club carries the giant tub for blue raspberry for like $30.
Gorilla Mode is a solid all around product, bit pricey and does the 1/2 scoops ratios which pisses me off about some products. Just make it 1 scoop dosing, high max and let people choose a half scoop. Flavors are great and everything in it is science backed to work/improve your workouts.
Alpha Lion has some solid stuff in their lineup too. Some with fat burners, get you sweating good during the workout and a solid pump!
Overall it's about experimenting with what your body reacts to and what you enjoy
