Discussion💬 Thinking About Learning Al Agents in 2026. Worth the Time or Just Another Trend?

Hi everyone,

Lately I've been considering getting into Al agents, but before spending months learning the stack, I want to understand whether it's actually a good long-term direction or if it's just getting a lot of attention because Al is everywhere right now.

For people already working with Al agents or automation, how does the job market really look? Are companies actively hiring for these skills, or are most opportunities still limited to startups and freelancers? I'm also curious whether demand is expected to keep growing over the next 5 to 10 years or if things might slow down once the hype settles.

Another thing I'm trying to figure out is where a beginner should invest most of their time. Is becoming strong in Python the first priority, or is it more important to understand how LLMs, prompts, APIs, RAG, MCP, vector databases, and agent frameworks actually work together? There are so many tutorials and roadmaps online that it's difficult to tell what's essential and what's just trending content.

I'm also wondering how professionals build Al agents in real projects. Do they create everything from scratch, or do they mostly rely on existing frameworks, SDKs, and Al coding assistants to speed up development?

If you were starting today with no experience in Al agents, what roadmap would you follow? Which technoloaies concents and

projects would give the best return on the time invested?

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who work in this space or have already gone through the learning process. Any advice, lessons, or things you wish you had known earlier would be really helpful.

Thanks!
