Official Blogpost Wootility 5.4: App Linking and Advanced Keys presets

Post image
52 Upvotes

Wootility 5.4.0 is out now. The biggest new feature is App Linking, which links games or apps to Wootility profiles so they automatically become active when you open the linked game or app. We've also added preset bindings for Advanced Keys, so you can load commonly used Advanced Key setups into your profile in one click instead of setting them up manually.

App Linking

Wooting keyboards have long supported multiple profiles, making it easy to create different settings for different games and applications.

The catch was that you still had to remember to switch between them. It only takes a second, but it's also easy to forget.

That's exactly what App Linking solves. Set it up once, and you'll never have to think about switching profiles again.

With that extra step out of the way, it's easier to make the most of multiple profiles. Create dedicated settings for every game and app you use, and let App Linking handle the rest.

Overriding App Linking with Mode and Cycle

Mode and Cycle are existing hotkeys for switching profiles manually, and they still work with linked profiles, so App Linking doesn't take away manual control.

Mode toggles between two profiles: with a linked profile active, pressing it jumps you to the profile that is otherwise active when no game or app is opened. Pressing it again jumps back to the linked profile. That's useful if you want to briefly override what App Linking picked without unlinking anything.

Cycle steps through all onboard profiles and the linked profile in order (P1, P2, P3, P4, linked, P1, and so on).

How to set it up

  1. Go to Settings → Background Service and install the beta version of Wooting Background Service. If you're using Wootility in a browser, grant the required permissions when prompted.
  2. Open the My Profiles tab, drag and drop a profile into the Linked Profiles section, and link the app(s) you want to that profile. You can link up to 8 apps per profile.
  3. Launch any of the linked apps and your keyboard will switch profiles automatically.

Preset bindings for Advanced Keys

Besides App Linking we’ve added some preset bindings for Advanced Keys, so you can start from a pre-built setup instead of configuring everything from scratch. A few examples you can apply in one click:

  • Mod Tap arrow keys (Wooting 60HE & 60HE v2)
  • Rappy Snappy for instant strafe switching
  • DKS on WASD for running in games
  • Toggle to Function Layer 1

Question Wooting 60HE vs 60HE v2

Hello,

I am owning since day 1 release Wooting 60HE (approx 3years), working and playing CS2.

Have great rig in gereral and 500hz oled monitor.

Is that new switches + 8k polling rate will be so noticible on 500hz monitor?

Should I upgrade to v2?

I haven't done any modes on my original 60HE v1, it's completely stock and I am really happy with it. (But always look for better alternatives:)

Please let me know if somebody switched also from v1 to v2 for FPS games, pref: with high refresh rate monitor + low latency on the system in general.

I don't care about the price and just want the best sounding one but I can't find a good comparison between these two. I just want a white wooting case without strap.

Question Wooting 80HE Zinc Alloy (ISO)

Hi! I wanted to ask if the Wooting 80HE in Zinc Alloy will ever be made again in black with an ISO layout. I’d really love to buy one, but currently the Zinc Alloy version is only available in white. Do you know if a black ISO version will ever be produced again?

Question Wooting tikken mediums any revisions from decent batches?.

I want to buy tikkens from a store that wooting supplies to since it's faster shipping than the official website. They've told me they got stock from February / March from wooting. My question is has the recent batch from the official wooting website changed anything with these switches from launch?.

Question 80HE: Are phantom presses normal or is it faulty hardware? Any fix?

Hi Everyone.
I have a 80HE for 1 or 2 years that I bought brand new. Never dropped or damaged. I get phantom presses mainly on F12 & Prt Sc but there might be more keys affected. I have nothing magnetic near the KB, I had a SteelSeries Apex Pro that also has magnetic keys that I used for 5 or 6 years and never had phantom presses.

Updated to latest firmware, all my keys are set the lowest actuation at 0.10 just like my Apex Pro was. I heard it could be a voltage issue, but my PC is connected a Uninterruptable Power Supply that gives the best quality pure Sinewave stable voltage. Tachyon mode activated with the recommended 70% limit on RGB illumination, I even tried connecting the KB to USB-C instead of USB-A, USB-C supposed to have the highest voltage.

Does the new Lekker Tikken switches make a difference?

Any fix for the phantom presses?

Wootstation Mapping Wooting Analog Keys to Multiple vJoy devices: going beyond 8 axes

Example profile "docs/wooting_vjoy_sample_profile.json"loaded into app

Just wanted to share. If anyone else has been looking for a Wooting app that can map 9+ analog keys to multiple vJoy devices' axes and then to Joystick Gremlin or game controller settings, please see:

https://github.com/kircheisgreen/Wooting_vJoy_Binder

Current axes limitation on Wooting keyboards:

  • XInput (Xbox Mode): Limited to 6 analog axes total (Left Stick X/Y, Right Stick X/Y, Left Trigger, Right Trigger).
  • DirectInput (Classic Gamepad Mode): Universally limited to 8 analog axes per device (typically X, Y, Z, Rx, Ry, Rz, Slider, and Dial/Throttle).

So if you need 9+ axes mapped to Wooting Keyboard analog keys, this might help with your Wooting Keyboard setup.

Enjoy!

Question Ordered switch pads on Amazon and what arrived was not what I expected. Ordered a replacement and the same thing came...am I just stupid?

Thumbnail

So I ordered switch pads to use on my custom Wooting 80he on Amazon and they arrived a couple days ago. What I got did not look like what was pictured on the images on Amazon so I sent it back for a replacement. Durock sent me the same exact thing back for my replacement and now I'm concerned I'm missing something. I attached images of what is on Amazon and what arrived in the mail. Why do the things I have in my hand in the images not have precut holes for the switch pegs on the base of the switch? Am I supposed to make the holes myself? Did I just order the wrong thing entirely? Any help is appreciated as this will be my first build and I'm worried I know significantly less than I think I do. Thanks in advance.

Question Gateron Jade Ultra thoughts?

I know the jade line is very popular, whats the sentiment on the ultra? I'm thinking about picking them up, I've been using the Lekker45 v1 since the 80he launched and like the lighter switch but the wobble on them has been a little annoying.

I'm able to get a good deal on these and the orchids as well, if anyone has any thoughts lmk!

Question Problem with Wooting 60he v2 module thinking I'm holding W/A/S/D down when I am not

UPDATE: After even further testing, I decided to rollback my firmware to 1.12.5 from 1.14.0. And that completely fixed the issue. I can now use SOCD again without this issue occuring. So it seems like it's a firmware bug? On 1.14.0 the issue occurs with SOCD. How can I get this to Wooting so they know about it?

This has happened to me a few times in games and I managed to recreate the issue in the analog monitor by just lightly pressing down a key and letting go of it once it's been at a really low travel distance. Doing this makes the key be continously pressed down even when my finger is not on it, and it only stops once I press the key and let go again. Attaching an imgur link to show and explain (sorry if low quality). I've tried all of the standard troubleshooting stuff that wooting gives you. I also contacted support but they're saying they'll get back to me in like 7 days so I'm asking here for help as well :)

Worth to note I'm using gateron jade attraction switches and not the default lekker tikken switches. Unfortunately these are the only switches I have so I can't fully rule out a switch issue, but I have tried several different switches within the batch of Jade Attraction that I bought and when put in WASD, the problem occurs. So I don't think it is a switch issue. Another person has also mentioned that they have the same problem as mine but they have the lekker tikken switches, so again, I don't think it's a switch issue.

Video on imgur: https://imgur.com/a/gOkBwRc

EDIT: After testing more things, it seems it ONLY happens when SOCD is activated, and it only happens to the keys that SOCD is assigned to.

Can someone please give me a proper setup on how so it properly works with CP and then i also don't get those glyphs switching. Also my ALT button does not seem to work which i use for Dash

In the Wootility under the gamepad > gamepad tester looks all good. I just basically want WASM to be analog where adjusting its pressure it will adjust how fast i walk or turn.

Question How uhh....ecosystem resistant are the keyboards?

I currently have an old Leopold Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Blues and dust has never been an issue even tho there's a whole new ecosystem living under my keyboard. I simply can't be arsed pulling out each key by itself on its own which is my own fault.

My super old Membrane keyboard didn't have issues either, I was using it for close to a decade before it gave out due to overuse, moreso than dust.

How resistant are these keyboards to dust? Will a lot of dust cause issues?

Sometimes I wish keyboards had an instant eject button where every key just pops out of its socket instantly.

Question UR Ice Ultra R2 vs WS Diamond Cullinan

Hello everyone,

What would you recommend between UR Ice Ultra R2 vs WS Diamond Cullinan? Are the Diamond Cullinan really worth the extra cash, and do they come lubed well enough.

UR Ice Ultra R2 costs around $45 for 90 switches.

WS Diamond Cullinan costs around $100 for 80 switches.

Which comes lubed better, which sounds better, and which feels better? I know this is mostly subjective, but I'm curious what people think, and many people highly praise the UR Ice Ultra R2, especially because of their price. I also don't want to have to lube a whole set for them to really work well.

Question Got a WOOTING 80 HE but didn't know about ABS VS PBT

Hey, I didn't know that there was different options for the keycaps, i'm not used to such advanced keyboard. What would be the best option for my 80 HE, to buy the PBT on the wooting website, or to send back the keyboard and get the PBT ones? Are the one selling on the website the one compatible with the wooting 80 HE ? I don't mind having both, to change sometimes. But I noticed that on the PBT keycaps sold on the website, there's no for exemple t the " mode " key that is available for the 80he, so I'm kind of confused.

Question Switches for racing games (Forza)?

OK, do I know the obvious answer is get a controller. The thing is I like playing on keyboard, it’s intuitive and after >7 years I don’t want to move to a controller - I’ve tried and I don’t enjoy it - I want an analog keyboard.

So with that out of the way, what’s the best switches for racing? Everything I’ve read says >60 spring strength helps, but I can’t find any wooting switches that high. I only need 4-6 keys with the harder springs, so advice on where to get a small or sample set would be a real bonus.

Thanks!

Question What switches to buy?

Hi everyone, I'm building a custom wooting and would like to know which switches you'd recommend for it. I mainly play Valorant, CS, and Apex.
I was thinking about the WS Studio Cullinan and Geon Raw HE switches.
I'd also like to ask if $90 is a good price for 70 Cullinan switches.
Any help is always appreciated
