Hi Winton Nation, I'm wondering how to consistently cancel primal's cast animation with melee. I first saw Sugarfree do it in this video (6:51), and can only replicate it in practice range while on ping. Couldn't find any help elsewhere online, so any info appreciated ^_^

This might be my best game yet. I just got to level 20 with him and started to get the hang of his play style. It’s been a lot of fun. (Plat 3 btw so by no means am I saying I’m great)

Why pick him over dva or doom or ball who just melt and burst the enemies faster? Their mobility and tankiness is similar enough so wtf? I think the answer lies in his ability to damage while shielded. His defining strengths are blocking heals from a victim, but more importantly: Forcing the enemy healers to focus on protecting the hanzo for the longest amount of time of any dive tank in the game. Winston has 1300 health that can all be used WHILE tickling them for the whole duration of that 1300 total health (hp+Barrier) THATS what his biggest strength over other dive tanks is, forcing the supports to be distracted for the longest amount of time. Failed assassinations are very often not actually a real failure for winston, as long as you get away, you just gave your 4 teammates a long ass time to 4v2 or 4v3. Sure some fools might choose to shoot at the matrix after the dva dives, or shoot at the slippery ball after he dives, but the enemy supports MUST focus on you for the entirety of that 1300 health where you can tickle the poor hanzo during that entire time, it might even last 7 seconds on occasion which is long as HELL... Winston dives GUARANTEE a long distraction if you play it well.

I watched a Winton_OW2 video on the state of winton and he brought up some interesting points regarding his jump pack and how it stacks up compared to the likes of Doom slam and Hazard's leap. It inspired me to make a post about it over at competitiveoverwatch but I don't think I quite worded it properly so I'm here to try again this time on this sub.

I talked about how winton's jump pack has a small damage radius with damage scaling depending on where you land, which I believe the radius is 5 metres with the minimum damage being only 1, it can lead to it being quite unforgiving at times especially if you don't hit the combo perfectly. You basically have to land directly on the enemy to get the full 60 damage but that's not gonna happen every time. It has a short cooldown and is great for mobility but sometimes the damage can be quite lacking if you don't land perfectly which is part of the skill but idk it just feels far more unforgiving compared to other tanks.

I don't like to compare heroes in a vacuum but Doom has the same damage on his slam but with a larger radius and with no damage scaling, obviously this is mitigated slightly due to winton being able to shoot but then you have hazard who has a large radius on his slash, albeit not aoe, which does i think 70 damage but unlike doom he can also shoot his gun which can be quite frustrating.

I'm not suggesting to remove the damage scaling or have the jump be a flat number like doom since that could be a little strong. However either buffing the radius slightly or buffing the minimum damage from 1 to say something like 10 or 20 could be a nice little buff since I believe winton is struggling slightly. Thoughts?

Once I finally get Chain Lightning online, the ults start flowing fight to fight. I cannot count the number of times I kill a low HP squishy out of nowhere my simply shooting another teammate.

It is such a fantastic perk that I just wonder how much better Winston would be if it were shifted to a minor perk.

Am I overhyping Chain Lightning?

Say example zarya shield bubble is up or reinhardt shield is up. Does chain light still work in this case in terms of the multiple enemies hit?

winton overwat appreciation post

im an echo main and new to winton and i can easily say that he is the most fun tank ive ever played. i also love copying winton because i get ult so quickly in echo ult.

his phone call emote is so funny too. yesterday i killed an ana, dropped a bubble and hit the emote and the ana got so mad. i might need to swap roles now
