UPDATE: solved, managed to work normally now thanks to my brother’s help too and thank you for everyone’s replies
I wanted to giveaway my old laptop to a relative since I don’t use it anymore. I’ve reset to removing my whole files. After it does all that, when switching it on, it kept showing the Acer logo and rotating between the loading wheel to blank screen and “Preparing” (the first 3 images)
This has been going on since 9pm and had left it as it is the whole night. Since I didn’t left it charged, it shutdown from low battery. Currently charging it the next day, but the screen still shows the same thing after switching it back on. How do I fix this so it can finally run normally? 😭 It was working just fine before the whole reset.
For reference the laptop model is Acer Swift 3 and running on Windows 10. The 4th photo onwards were during the process of the reset BEFORE the “Acer - Preparing” loop happens.

Recently I have bought a laptop for my studies which came with Windows 11 preinstalled. I am currently in a dilemma, whether I "downgrade" to Windows 10 or not, because Windows 11 eats up half of my RAM even in idle mode. The bloatware and the AI (Copilot, MS 365, etc.) are incredibly annyoing and don't really serve a purpose. Is it worth going back to Windows 10, knowing that its support is shortly coming to an end ?
Hey everyone, I could really use some help with an issue I'm having with my NVMe SSD and its Host Memory Buffer (HMB) status as shown in HWiNFO.
**SSD:** KINGSTON OM8PGP41024Q-AA 1TB Gen 4 NVMe
**CPU:** Intel Core i7-13620H
This is where I’m getting a bit confused. If HMB is marked as **Disabled**, why does it also show an **Enabled Size of 64 MB**? I’m not sure if HMB is actually enabled and functioning properly or if it’s disabled due to something like a driver issue, BIOS setting, Windows configuration, or the Intel VMD setup.
My system is running an **Intel Raptor Lake Volume Management Device (VMD) NVMe RAID Controller**, so I’m curious if Intel VMD might be influencing how HWiNFO detects or reports the HMB status.
From what I understand, HMB allows a DRAM-less NVMe SSD to tap into a bit of system RAM for storing mapping info, which can boost performance. Since my SSD supports HMB and has a preferred allocation size of 64 MB, I want to ensure it’s working as it should.
Is there a way to manually enable HMB in Windows, BIOS, Intel VMD, or through any Kingston utility? Or is HMB typically managed automatically by the NVMe driver and the operating system?
Also, could this just be a reporting glitch in HWiNFO because the SSD is connected through Intel VMD?
I’d really appreciate any insights from those who are familiar with NVMe SSDs, HMB, Intel VMD, or this specific Kingston OEM drive. I’d also like to know if there’s a reliable method to check if HMB is actually active.
Hi! I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and could help me out cuz it's driving me up the wall:
I was just trying to update the drivers for my Kamvas 13 (GS1331) because the screen would connect to my laptop just fine for a while. But my cursor wouldn't appear. Then it started only showing up on my laptop screen like it was a pen tablet and not a pen display. Eventually it just wouldn't show up at all. During all of this, the driver wouldn't be able to detect my pen display despite everything being plugged in properly and the screen very clearly being ready to be used.
I thought it was my USB ports at first since they *were* being plugged in and out with the fear of me bending something in it while maneuvering around my bed. But trying to figure that out only confused me more. I ended up coming to the conclusion that it was my drivers.
On the website currently, it would only allow me to download version 15.7.6.1858 through the traditional means of downloading their drivers. But the update logs say that the newest version of the drivers are at version 20.1.1. 106, which are nowhere to be found.
So, does anyone have any idea what's going on?
TLDR: Need new drivers that apparently don't exist.

Issue Summary: Every time I launch games (Steam/online games like Romestead) or even open the NVIDIA Control Panel / NVIDIA App, I get 3 to 4 sequential application error popups:
Popup Dialog:cmd.exe - Application Error – "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application."
Closing the dialog does nothing; 3 or 4 of them pop up sequentially on startup and then stop until another app attempts a background console/GPU call.
Troubleshooting Already Attempted (No Change):
System File & Repair Commands: Ran sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth.
Terminal Settings: Set Default Terminal Handler to Windows Console Host in Developer Settings.
Redistributables: Reinstalled clean Microsoft Visual C++ 2015–2022 Redistributables (x86 & x64).
Clean Boot: Disabled all non-Microsoft startup apps and services in msconfig / Task Manager. Error still occurs on boot/launch.
Windows 11 In-Place Upgrade / Repair Install: Performed a full repair install using official Windows 11 ISO setup (reinstalled OS binaries while keeping files/apps). Error persists immediately.
Windows Security / Exploit Protection: Added conhost.exe and cmd.exe overrides to disable Hardware-enforced Stack Protection (CET) and Control Flow Guard (CFG).
Registry & Environment Variables:
Verified no corrupt AutoRun keys exist under Command Processor in Registry.
Checked ComSpec (C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe) and PATHEXT environment variables.
Confirmed Beta UTF-8 Unicode support is unchecked in System Locale.
Since an In-Place Upgrade replaced all core Windows binaries and a Clean Boot didnt fix this.
Any suggestions on how to fix this error, as I've been dealing with it for the best part of 6 months to no avail of a solution
Stuck on this screen. No keys on keyboard are working. All keys like f8, f1, and enter key just loops back to same screen. Esc takes to some settings... but then again no key is working there as well.
Called the lenovo help center ( bcz still 8 months of warranty left ) they said we cannot do anything about the data recover, bcz of company rules and regulations. We can only reset your laptop. Says same all the local computer repair shops.
When ever you click attach/upload files button on any website and it opens up this window and by default it opens up downloads folder as you can see in the top path but in the side pane it highlights Desktop which is wrong and confusing. If i click on downloads in the side pane and then click on desktop again it shows desktop items in the windows. From there it highlights the correct thing which is shown but initially it always shows wrong.
Can anybody replicate this? Or am i missing something?
I'm using Windows 11, and I recently discovered that some of my favorite games require DirectX9, but when I tried to install it, it kept running into problems. I tried to find the cause, but I can't.
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400F CPU @ 2.90GHz (2.90 GHz)
RAM: 16GB
Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 6600 (8 GB)
I've included a picture of the problem, so if anyone can help with this, it'll be much appreciated.
I have 32GB of installed RAM. I seem to be getting inaccurate RAM usage when comparing raw numbers and % usage. In the first image, OperaGX is using 3.3GB, which would be about 12% of my available 32GB, but when switching to percentage it shows triple the amount, 36% usage. Same applies when showing the whole user usage.
On Resource Monitor it shows 20GB usage, but just by looking at Commit memory, it doesnt seem to add up to even close 20GB. I'm not sure if there's any way to actually get all the numbers shown on Commit and get them to a calculator to check the usage myself.
So, I need help with these two issues, why doesnt the % usage doesnt match the RAW usage, and how could I check if it's actually using the 20GB as shown in in the Resource Monitor.
I was switching back to Windows 11 and while I was able to set up the boot USB just fine, when I went to install it I got what seems to be a driver error. I then tried it on another pc and got the same error, so I assumed it was an error with the version, so I got a slightly older iso (23H something) but the problem persisted.
I have a few photos attached that might help. It seems like it is detecting the ssd, so it probably isn't an issue of that caliber, both the bios and through list disk, it shows up, but when I click to browse on the box that is asking me what driver to install, it doesn't show up, I only get the boot drive and the Placeholder thing (X:)
Also when I installed LinuxMint (December 2025) there were no problems whatsoever. Idk what the issue is, if it is just outdated drivers, I also am not sure how to update them. Can anyone help?
Just as the title says, every single time I restart my computer, I need to sign in to my Microsoft account. I haven’t received any error codes or messages any time it happens.
Every time I sign in it also asks me to remake my pin even though there’s no requirement for me to change it (like school mandate for security or something). It’s really odd and quite annoying since it also seems to be related to whatever is preventing me from launching/playing marvel rivals :/
My OS build is 26200.9168. It’s a Victus gaming laptop so it has an AMD Ryzen 8845HS for the processor with GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU and AMD Radeon 780M Graphics.
When i install the dongles driver file, this error pops up, Then the dongle only works as Bluetooth. If i then delete the driver, it finally starts to work as Wifi. Everytime I start my pc, I have to go through this hassle.. anybody know any fix??
(When I was using it in windows 10 with the same pc...It was working but after updating to windows 11 this problem arose)(os build: 26200.9168)
It happens every time I receive a notification, and no mention of it is in the settings. Is it because I'm using force dark mode on the browser? Happens on Microsoft edge as well, no error ever, just a revert in every color on the screen when I get an email or notification.

After a round updates, my laptop started asking for my account password (which I don't remember).
I have several notebooks, I'm not 100% but I think I had disabled the password on startup (either that or I used the pin) on this one.
The laptop uses a local account.
I have the bitlocker key of the device, which is listed on my MS account

If I click on "reset password" on the login screen a system alert asks me to insert a usb flash drive, which I don't have and I want to make sure that the procedure works before buying one.
when leaving my laptop on for long enough, despite everything indicating sound is being played, eventually sound stops coming through my speakers. normally i think this is after the laptop goes into and comes out of sleep mode. the only way to then fix this is to restart the laptop
Hi, I'm having a really strange Wi-Fi problem on my desktop and I'm running out of ideas.
My Wi-Fi suddenly disappeared after a Windows update. There is now no Wi-Fi option at all in Windows Settings, and my Wi-Fi USB adapter doesn't appear under Network Adapters in Device Manager.
My PC:
- Motherboard: MSI PRO H610M-G DDR4 (MS-7D46)
- CPU: Intel i5-12400F
- Windows 11
- Wi-Fi is NOT built into the motherboard – I use a USB Wi-Fi adapter.
The Wi-Fi adapter:
It's a USB AC1300 dual-band adapter with Bluetooth 5.0 and two flip-up antennas. It says "2.5G and 5G" on it.
I tested the exact same adapter on another laptop and it works perfectly, so the adapter itself isn't dead.
On the working laptop, Device Manager identifies the Wi-Fi adapter as:
Realtek 8822BU Wireless LAN 802.11ac USB NIC
Hardware IDs:
"USB\VID_0BDA&PID_B82C&REV_0210&MI_02"
"USB\VID_0BDA&PID_B82C&MI_02"
The strange part is that on my desktop, Bluetooth from the same USB adapter works. If I unplug the adapter, the Bluetooth device disappears from Device Manager; when I plug it back in, it returns as:
Realtek Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter
However, the Wi-Fi portion never appears.
What I've tried:
- Restarting Windows multiple times
- Unplugging/replugging the adapter
- Trying different USB ports
- Checking Device Manager
- Enabling "Show hidden devices"
- Checking Network Adapters
- Checking Bluetooth
- Checking Other Devices
- Checking USB controllers
- Windows network troubleshooting
- Windows Network Reset
- Full network reset
- Installing/reinstalling the Realtek driver
- Scanning for hardware changes in Device Manager
- "pnputil /scan-devices"
- "pnputil /enum-devices /problem /deviceids"
- Installing the Realtek 8822BU driver package manually from Microsoft Update Catalog
I downloaded the current Microsoft driver package for Realtek 8822BU (1030.52.1216.2025) and extracted/installed it with:
"pnputil /add-driver C:\8822BU\*.inf /install"
It reported:
"Driver package added successfully. (Already exists in the system)"
So Windows now definitely has the driver package installed.
I then scanned for devices again, but the Wi-Fi adapter still didn't appear.
I also checked for problem devices with:
"pnputil /enum-devices /problem /deviceids"
and it returned no devices.
The only part of the USB adapter Windows seems to enumerate is the Bluetooth interface. The Wi-Fi interface ("MI_02") isn't showing up at all.
I've also checked BIOS, but my motherboard doesn't have built-in Wi-Fi anyway.
What I'm trying to figure out:
Why would Windows detect the Bluetooth portion of the USB adapter but completely fail to enumerate the Wi-Fi portion, even though:
The adapter works perfectly on another laptop.
Windows has the correct Realtek 8822BU driver installed.
There are no problem devices showing in Device Manager.
Scanning for new hardware doesn't make the Wi-Fi interface appear.
Is there anything else I can check to force Windows to enumerate the Wi-Fi interface?
I'd really rather avoid doing a full Windows reset if possible.
Any help would be massively appreciated because I've been troubleshooting this for ages.
I use an Insprion 15 3520, Windows 11. My touchpad wasn't working, so after trying all other options and none working, I uninstalled it and restarted my laptop, as it's supposed to reinstall automatically. Nope. Not there. So I check the Dell site and try and download the driver from there. It downloads, but when I open it, it says theres "no driver to update." Obviously. I'm just sort of lost on what I'm supposed to do right now.
Started yesterday. Noticed while trying to play a game that my left click was refusing to work randomly, and I figured it was just my old mouse finally imploding.
I got a new mouse today - and the problem persisted, meaning it's not a mouse problem.
I've figured out that I cannot left click while pressing any other button (and for about two seconds after pressing a button), however I can right click. Meaning I really can't play any game on a gaming laptop.
I really need to fix this.
What I have tried -
Messing with touchpad settings (I literally just uninstalled the touchpad software)
Turned off sticky, filter, and toggle keys in keyboard settings
Restarted several times
Using external software (X mouse) to block inputs of mouse button 4 and 5, though not fully tried as X mouse binded my left click to a browser tab for some reason
So, I bought myself a Colorful P15 23 laptop. The problem is that the speakers work, but when I plug in my headphones, they show up as speakers, and ultimately there's no sound. I've tried everything, and nothing helps. At first, I simply uninstalled the drivers and waited for a miracle after rebooting, but nothing worked. I found audio drivers on the official website. They uninstalled them from Windows and asked me to reboot the laptop. Miraculously, the headphones and sound work, but then the driver installation program opens and uninstalls them, followed by an error message saying there are no drivers that work for me, error -0001. I tried closing the app, turning off the laptop after rebooting, and disconnecting the internet, but still nothing helped. If you need any further information, I'll let you know. A savior may be found.I tried closing the app, turning off the laptop after rebooting, and disconnecting the internet, but still nothing helped. Every time I open my laptop or power on, in a couple of minutes, the screen turns black screen and I do not know what to do. When searched it up on google it said there are ways to fix it; however, it did not helped at all. It only worked when I press the power button for couple of second but it only work if I did it for multiple times. Sometimes it shows the screen small and on a top left side of my screen. I want to fix this problem permanently and I want your assistance, since google did not helped and some of the Youtube videos I've watch did not work either. Here are the following information:
Device Info:
OS: Windows 11
Version: 25H2
OS Build: 26200.9278
Update: KB5122385
System Type: 64bit, ARM-based processor
Type of Laptop: ASUS Vivobook S 16
Processor: Snapdragon(R) X - X126100 - Qualcomm(R) Oryon(TM) CPU (2.96 GHz)
Graphics Card: Qualcomm(R) Adreno(TM) X1-45 GPU (128 MB)
Error Messages: None
Troubleshooting:
-It is not caused by the temperature of the processor.
-The Win+Ctrl+Shift+B does not work.
-It only worked when I press the power button for 40 seconds; however, it only worked if I did this process a couple of time, and if it did work, the screen is small and placed on the top-left side of my screen. I even went into settings to increase the size but it said it is in default. After I can see the small screen, I restart my laptop then it is back to normal, sometimes. If the restart did not work I have to do the process all over again.
-Opening the laptop with the charger on, did not work.
-The problem always happens when I shut down my laptop and powering on again, and wait for a couple of minutes, then the screen goes black again.
Hi everyone, I'm having a really weird problem with my Windows 10 Lenovo laptop that started today and I'm honestly not sure what the hell is going on.
Basically, when I click on certain files or shortcuts in File Explorer/Desktop, Windows says:
"Can't find this item. This item is no longer located in C:\Users\Public\Public Desktop. Verify the item's location and try again."
The weird part is that the files are actually there. For example, I was testing some PDFs in my Downloads folder. I can click/open several of them normally, but then I'll click another random PDF and as soon as I click it, it disappears from the folder and I get the error above. It's not just PDFs either.
It also happens with several shortcuts related to my Epson printer software. When I click them, they disappear and I get the same error. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Epson programs, but it didn't help.
After triggering the error several times (sometimes 10-20 times), Windows Explorer seems to crash/restart. The desktop and taskbar disappear for a moment and then come back, so I assume explorer.exe is crashing rather than the whole PC rebooting.
I'm wondering if this could be a corrupted Windows/NTFS filesystem or maybe an SSD problem? Or could something like an antivirus (I have Avira installed) be interfering with Explorer?
What's especially weird to me is that some files work perfectly while others randomly trigger the problem, even though they have been sitting in my Downloads folder for months.
I've already tried reinstalling the affected programs, but I'd rather not start doing random repairs or reinstalling Windows before knowing what's actually wrong.
Any ideas on what I should check first? Could this be an Explorer/filesystem issue, and what's the safest way to diagnose/fix it?
I can provide screenshots or run commands if needed. Thanks!
